The headphones in WIRED’s October 6, 2026 Prime Day deal article are Nothing Headphone (1). WIRED reported an Amazon price of $189, down from a $299 sticker price, and called it the model’s lowest price ever. That is a dated offer, not a confirmed price for October 7: check the current Amazon listing and stock before deciding whether to buy.
What was the Prime Day deal?
WIRED’s October 6, 2026 article reported Nothing Headphone (1) at $189 on Amazon, $110 below its $299 sticker price. The article characterized $189 as the lowest price the model had reached. Because the offer can change, the reported price should not be taken as a live quote or a guarantee that the headphones are still available at that price. WIRED’s deal article

What makes Nothing Headphone (1) distinctive?
Physical controls rather than touch-only operation
WIRED highlights tactile controls as a key reason to consider the headphones. A wheel handles volume, playback, and noise-canceling modes, while a separate rocker navigates tracks. The headphones also have a physical power switch, Bluetooth pairing button, and voice-assistant button. This approach may appeal if you prefer buttons and controls you can feel over touch gestures.

Transparent design and listening modes
The over-ear headphones have a transparent design and offer noise cancellation and a transparency mode. WIRED’s commerce editor Harry Rabinowitz described them as a favorite for their “stylish design, tactile on-ear controls, and fun sound.” That is an editorial assessment, not a controlled comparison against competing models.

How do the battery and sound claims compare?
WIRED reports up to 35 hours of battery life with noise cancellation enabled. The article does not describe an independent test method for that figure, so treat it as a published claim rather than a verified result from comparative testing.
WIRED also says Nothing Headphone (1) does not match the noise cancellation and sound of more expensive flagship headphones from Sony, Bose, and Apple. Its coverage names the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort Headphones (1st Gen) as other deal options, but does not provide controlled head-to-head results or establish which model is best for a particular listener.

- Compare alternatives if your priority is the strongest noise cancellation or sound quality; WIRED says more expensive flagship models from Sony, Bose, and Apple perform better in those areas.
- Check the listing before purchase for the current price and availability, rather than relying on the October 6 deal report.
