Nothing Headphone (1) Pro Review: Better Headphones, but Worth the Upgrade?

Nothing Headphone (1) Pro is a capable premium wireless headphone, but its case is strongest for people who will use its Flat EQ mode, wired listening and feature-rich sound options—not for anyone simply seeking the best value. At reported launch prices of $399 / £349 / AU$699, it costs substantially more than Nothing’s Headphone (a). Reviewers disagree on how much better it sounds, so the upgrade depends on your priorities.

What is Nothing Headphone (1) Pro?

Released on September 28, 2026, Headphone (1) Pro is Nothing’s 327 g, over-ear wireless model with three driver types in each ear cup: a 40 mm bass dynamic driver, a 13 × 8 mm precision dynamic driver and a 3.2 × 6.0 × 1.15 mm solid-state xMEMS treble driver. Nothing lists a 20 Hz–40 kHz frequency range.

The UK product page specifies Bluetooth 6.1, AAC, SBC and LDAC music playback, plus LC3 for broadcast audio. Other features include adaptive noise cancelling (ANC), transparency, spatial audio, dual connection and Auracast. Nothing advertises ANC of up to 46 dB, a theoretical laboratory maximum rather than a guaranteed result in everyday use. Nothing’s UK product page notes that specifications and features can vary by region or change with production.

How does it sound, and what does Flat EQ do?

The key distinction is not a universally superior sound; it is a more configurable setup that includes Flat EQ, a mode Nothing developed with Metropolis Studios for neutral listening. Nothing Support says Flat EQ disables Transparency Mode, Spatial Audio and all EQ settings, so it is a focused listening option rather than a setting to use alongside those features. Nothing Support’s Headphone (1) Pro guidance also covers its audio features.

#1 Best Overall
Nothing Headphone (1) Pro Noise Cancelling Headphone, Triple Driver, Hi-Res
  • Triple Driver Architecture: Experience balanced, detailed audio with Nothing Headphone (1) Pro wireless headphones, built around a dedicated three-driver system featuring a 40 mm bass driver, precision driver, and treble XMEMS driver. Each driver is engineered to handle part of the frequency range, working together to unlock deeper bass, sharper vocals and richer textures across music, gaming, and more.
  • Certified Hi-Res Audio for wireless and wired listening: Enjoy high-quality wireless audio with LDAC, or connect via USB-C for lossless, high-fidelity playback at up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
  • 10-Mic Real-time Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation: Nothing Headphone (1) Pro delivers up to 46 dB of Active Noise Cancellation with 10 microphones and a new silicone sound seal. Ten microphones monitor your surroundings and automatically adjust noise cancellation in real time to reduce unwanted background noise. A new 8 mm silicone wall baffle wall inside the ear cushion provides passive isolation, while Transparency Mode lets you hear your surroundings when needed.
  • Studio-Level Tuning with Metropolis Studios: Nothing partnered with Metropolis Studios, home to some of the world’s most influential audio engineers, to bring studio-level tools to Nothing Headphone (1) Pro noise cancelling headphone. Listen to the raw track with Flat EQ for reviewing music, producing or mixing, discover new EQ Profiles and feel what it's like to listen in a recording studio through a unique Dynamic Spatial Audio mode.
  • Spatial Audio & Advanced EQ: Dynamic Spatial Audio has five modes: Standard, Studio B, Live House, Club and Concert Hall. Advanced EQ gives you precise control over your sound, letting you drag tuning points across multiple drivers.

Reviewers heard the tuning differently. TechRadar described the default sound as neutral and integrated, and its reviewer found the spatial profiles subtle; the review also notes that Headphone (a) may sound more fun, depending on taste. Creative Bloq’s reviewer heard stronger bass authority, textured vocals and spacious treble, and considered Flat EQ the clearest pro-audio reason to choose the Pro. Those are individual listening impressions, not a guarantee that one model will suit every listener.

How does it compare with Headphone (a) and other options?

The following are prices reported by TechRadar in its September 29, 2026 review. They are launch or review figures, not verified current offers.

Model US UK Australia
Nothing Headphone (1) Pro $399 £349 AU$699
Nothing Headphone (1) $299 £299 AU$549
Nothing Headphone (a) $199 £149 AU$329
Sony WH-1000XM6 $449 £399 AU$699

Against Headphone (a), the Pro’s case rests on its three-driver design, Flat EQ, spatial audio and wired listening options. TechRadar reports USB-C wired audio support up to 24-bit/192 kHz on the Pro, compared with a stated 24-bit/96 kHz ceiling for Headphone (a). These are review-reported specifications, not a claim that every listener will hear a difference. The lower-priced model may be a better fit if its sound suits you and the Pro’s additional features are not important.

The original Headphone (1) and Sony WH-1000XM6 are also useful price comparisons, but price alone does not establish which one sounds or feels best to you. Compare current local prices and consider the features you will actually use, including wired playback, ANC, battery behavior and comfort.

Battery life, charging and connections

Nothing Support gives these maximum playback estimates under its stated laboratory conditions: 25°C, 50% volume and other features at default settings. Actual battery life varies with use.

Codec and ANC setting Manufacturer estimate
AAC, ANC off Up to 68 hours
AAC, ANC on Up to 30 hours
LDAC, ANC off Up to 53 hours
LDAC, ANC on Up to 28 hours
Talk time, ANC off Up to 40 hours
Talk time, ANC on Up to 33 hours

Nothing’s product page says five minutes of charging can provide up to four hours of playback with ANC off, subject to its stated default settings. The headphones support both USB-C and 3.5 mm audio; the box includes cables for both.

For Auracast reception, Nothing Support says the receiving device must be Auracast-compatible. When the headphones act as the transmitter, the connected phone does not itself need to support Auracast broadcasting.

Comfort, controls and durability

Creative Bloq’s reviewer found the new cushions and wider, padded headband more comfortable, including when wearing glasses, but warned that the control paddle could snag when leaning back. Comfort is personal, and the 327 g weight is worth considering if you prefer lighter headphones or wear them for long stretches.

Nothing rates the headphones IP52, but explicitly says that rating does not make them waterproof or cover rain, splashes, immersion or excessive sweat. Treat them as headphones to protect from moisture, not as workout or all-weather gear.

What comes in the box?

The package includes the headphones, a hard-shell case with strap loops, a 3.5 mm audio cable, a USB-C cable and a quick start guide. Nothing Support confirms that replacement cushions can be purchased through official support. Nothing Support provides the relevant Headphone (1) Pro help information.

Who should buy Nothing Headphone (1) Pro?

  • Consider it if you want a neutral Flat EQ option, value wired USB-C or 3.5 mm listening, and expect to use its ANC and other sound features.
  • Compare carefully first if you mainly want enjoyable everyday listening: TechRadar’s reviewer preferred the possibility of a more fun sound from the cheaper Headphone (a), while Creative Bloq’s reviewer heard meaningful improvements from the Pro.
  • Check other choices and fit if price, low weight or moisture resistance is a priority. The Pro is 327 g, and its IP52 rating is not protection for wet conditions.
