Not Receiving a Sign-Up Email? How to Find It and Get a New One

If a sign-up or verification email hasn’t arrived, first search every mailbox folder and confirm the address you used. Then check filters, request one fresh message from the service’s official sign-in or account page, and contact the right support team if it still doesn’t appear. Whether other email is arriving helps identify whether the issue is with one service or your mailbox generally.

1. Search the mailbox, not just the inbox

Use your mail app’s search for the service name and terms such as “verify,” “verification,” “confirmation,” or “code.” Check Spam or Junk, Bulk or Other, Archive, Trash or Deleted Items, and any focused inbox tabs. Apple recommends searching for the sender and checking mailbox folders; Outlook.com also points users to its Other folder and Junk Email.

If you use a work or school mailbox, check whether messages are held in an administrator-managed quarantine as well as in your visible folders.

2. Confirm which address the service used

Make sure you are signed in to the mailbox used during sign-up. Check the service’s account or sign-in page for the destination address, and compare its spelling and domain with the address you intended to enter. A typo can send the message to a different mailbox—or prevent you from accessing the account at all.

Yubico - Security Key C NFC - Basic Compatibility - Multi-Factor authentication (MFA) Security Key and passkey, Connect via USB-C or NFC, FIDO Certified
  • POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The Security Key C NFC is the essential physical passkey for protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts.
  • WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single Security Key C NFC secures 100 of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more.
  • FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your Security Key C NFC via USB-C and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC) to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required.
  • TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
  • BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.

If the address is wrong and the service lets you edit it, correct it before requesting another email. Google notes that an address typo during account creation may require creating the account again with the correct address; Apple provides a way to update an incorrect address before resending.

3. Check filters, blocked senders, and organizational rules

Review your mail rules and filters, blocked-sender list, and spam settings. A rule may have moved or deleted the message, while a blocked sender or domain may keep it out of your inbox. Outlook.com’s guidance includes checking filters and junk settings.

For a work or school account, ask your administrator or IT team whether the service’s sender or domain was blocked or quarantined. Organizational mail controls may not be visible or changeable from your personal inbox settings.

4. Request one fresh verification email

Use the service’s official account page or sign-in flow to resend. Do not rely on an old verification link: it may have expired. Button names and paths differ, but official examples include these actions:

  • Google Account: Return to the unverified-account flow and request another message. Google advises checking Spam or Bulk Mail and, if needed, adding [email protected] to your contacts. Requesting a new link replaces an expired one.
  • Microsoft account: In the account’s sign-in management page, select Verify beside the unverified email alias, then choose Send email.
  • Apple Account: On Apple’s account website, select Resend beside the address you need to verify.
  • Other websites or campus services: Find the verification or confirmation option in the service’s sign-up, sign-in, or account settings. If you cannot find it, contact that service’s support rather than using a link from an untrusted message.

After requesting the new message, search the mailbox again, including Spam or Junk. Avoid repeatedly requesting codes in quick succession. Microsoft says unusual activity can temporarily block verification and warns that excessive or repetitive code requests can prevent codes from being sent; that guidance is specific to Microsoft, so follow the relevant service’s instructions.

5. Identify whether one sender or all incoming mail is affected

Check whether you have received other recent messages at the same address. The distinction determines who is best placed to investigate:

  • Other email arrives, but this one service’s message does not: Contact the service that owns the sign-up flow. Ask whether it sent the message and whether it can confirm the destination address or send a new one. Outlook.com recommends contacting the sender about a specific missing message when there is no visible delivery error.
  • No email from any sender arrives: Check mailbox receipt settings, storage or account restrictions if your provider exposes them, and contact your email provider. Apple likewise directs users to their email service provider when no email is arriving generally.
  • It is a work or school address: If the message may have been filtered by organizational controls, contact the mailbox administrator or IT team as well as the service when appropriate.
