NordPass vs Dashlane: which should you choose?
For an individual, the practical split is free access and security-health tools versus a paid bundle with additional protections. For a household, compare the number of accounts and who actually receives the VPN benefit. For a business, evaluate the administration and detection features against your workflows rather than treating the personal plans as equivalent.

NordPass: free entry point and health checks
NordPass describes Free as including unlimited password storage, syncing across devices, autosave and autofill, and multi-factor authentication. Its paid Premium tier adds sharing, switching between devices without logging in, Password Health checks for weak, old, or reused passwords, and Data Breach Scanner checks against known breaches. The official pricing page also lists Password Health and Data Breach Scanner for Premium and Family. These are NordPass’s descriptions of its own plan features, not independent assessments of their effectiveness.

Dashlane says it no longer sells Free, Essentials, Advanced, Premium Plus, or Premium Plus Family plans, and no longer sells monthly subscriptions. Some existing customers may still renew legacy plans depending on their purchase channel. Dashlane plan comparison.
Does NordPass have a free plan?
Yes. NordPass lists a Free plan and describes it as supporting unlimited password storage, sync across devices, autosave and autofill, and MFA. The free tier is useful if you want to try a password manager before paying; check the plan page for current feature terms. NordPass pricing.

Does Dashlane include a VPN?
Dashlane lists VPN access with its paid personal plans. On Friends & Family, only the plan manager receives Hotspot Shield VPN access; invited members do not. Do not assume that every person on the family plan gets the VPN simply because it is listed as a plan benefit. Dashlane plan comparison.
Which password manager is better for a family?
The listed account limits are the clearest distinction: NordPass Family covers six accounts, while Dashlane Friends & Family covers ten. If VPN access matters, account for the fact that Dashlane limits it to the plan manager. Is Dashlane safer than NordPass?
The reviewed official pages do not establish an overall security winner. Both providers describe their own security architecture, but those vendor descriptions are not an independent, apples-to-apples audit.

What the providers say
NordPass describes XChaCha20 encryption, a zero-knowledge architecture, routine third-party audits, and a bug bounty program. It says user data is encrypted before it leaves the device. Dashlane’s security paper describes a zero-knowledge design in which no one, including Dashlane, can access or reconstruct a user’s Master Password. It also describes Business Dark Web Insights as monitoring verified company domains and employee email addresses, including people without Dashlane accounts. Separate vault protection from alerts
- Vault protection concerns how the password database and account credentials are protected. Compare each provider’s documented architecture and account protections rather than treating an algorithm name alone as proof of superiority.
- MFA adds an additional sign-in factor; NordPass lists MFA in its Free plan. For NordPass Business, the company documents YubiKey or another FIDO2-certified security key as an optional MFA method. NordPass features.
- Phishing and scam warnings can help identify risky interactions, but do not make every link or site safe. Dashlane lists real-time phishing/scam protections in its personal plan information. Dashlane plan comparison.

How should a business compare NordPass and Dashlane?
Business plans solve a different problem from personal subscriptions. Start by deciding whether the organization primarily needs shared credential storage and administration, or also wants visibility into risky credential use in browsers and applications.

NordPass business plans
NordPass lists Teams for small teams, Business with group-based and folder credential sharing, password-strength and breach monitoring, and Vanta integration, and Enterprise with additional identity integrations, provisioning, and SIEM tools. The reviewed pricing page showed dynamic loading fields rather than prices; seat minimums and exact tier details should be confirmed with NordPass or at checkout. Dashlane business plans
Dashlane separates Password Management from Credential Protection. It describes Password Management around employee passwords and passkeys, sharing, policies, SSO, and SCIM. Credential Protection is positioned around credential risk, phishing detection, alerts, and remediation; Enterprise is custom priced. Dashlane business pricing.
Dashlane’s comparison page claims advantages in workforce-wide visibility, browser phishing defense, and visibility into applications outside SSO. Dashlane says its feature comparison is based on its internal research of publicly available features as of April 2026; treat those comparisons as vendor-authored, not independent findings. The same page claims 37% of applications sit outside SSO and IT oversight, but the reviewed page excerpt gives no study citation or methodology, so that figure is not independently validated. Questions to settle before choosing for a team
- What seat count and minimum purchase apply to the exact tier?
- Can admins organize sharing around the groups and folders employees actually use?
- Do required identity integrations, provisioning, SSO, or SCIM exist in the selected tier?
- Does the organization need SIEM integration or incident workflows?
- Is browser credential-risk visibility a requirement beyond storing and sharing passwords?
- What is the total price for the same number of users, billing cadence, region, taxes, and renewal term?
How much does NordPass or Dashlane cost in 2026?
No comparable numeric 2026 price can be verified from the official pages reviewed: NordPass’s captured pricing fields showed “Loading,” and Dashlane’s captured personal pricing page did not expose an amount. Dashlane’s pricing FAQ, updated September 8, 2026, says new personal prices began taking effect on its website, App Store, and Play Store in mid-February 2026; existing subscribers receive the new price at renewal after notification. Before buying, compare the same region, billing period, number of users, taxes, introductory offer, and renewal price. Check the final checkout total and any renewal notice rather than relying on an old rate or an amount shown for a different plan or purchase channel.
