The official announcement window runs from 5 to 12 October 2026. Times below are Central European Summer Time (CEST). Except for the Peace Prize, each time is listed as “at the earliest,” so an announcement may come later. Check the official Nobel Prize announcement schedule for updates.

The modern announcement cycle covers six categories: Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace and Economic Sciences. The first five were the fields in Alfred Nobel’s will. The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was established by Sveriges Riksbank in 1969 as an addition to the original five; it is included in the annual announcement cycle.

Nobel’s will described the intended recipients as “those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind,” according to the Nobel Prize’s official overview. The first Nobel Prizes were awarded in 1901.
Can I find out who is nominated for a Nobel Prize?
No verified 2026 nominee list is public. Nomination records are kept secret for 50 years, so claims naming supposed nominees should not be treated as confirmed by the Nobel Prize. The official nomination and selection page explains the secrecy rule.
