Nivalis Nights mixes the routines of a cosy business sim with life in a city shaped by debt, surveillance and corporate power. Lyssa Greywood’s October 2, 2026 Screen Hype review finds a game rich in things to do and strong on atmosphere, but held back by confusing tutorials, awkward navigation and some technical problems. Its appeal depends on whether that busy, sometimes unguided mix sounds inviting.
What do you do in Nivalis Nights?
You take over Thaddeus’s struggling noodle stand and inherit a significant debt. Keeping the business afloat means juggling restaurant work with a wider set of activities: hiring workers, growing ingredients in climate-controlled greenhouses or buying them, fishing, completing quests, earning money and building relationships.
The city adds pressure as well as opportunity. You can cooperate with CorpSec or resist it, deal with other restaurant owners, and make morally compromised choices. The review’s central tension is how many demands compete for your time: the business, quests, money and relationships all need attention.
Greywood reports that more than 130 NPCs move through the city, with some available as friends or romantic interests. That is the reviewer’s count, not an independently verified official figure.

What works well?
A varied, demanding activity loop
The game’s breadth is its strongest draw. Restaurant management sits alongside farming, fishing, quests and relationship-building, giving players several ways to spend their time. Greywood sums up the appeal: “What I really enjoyed is how much there is to do.” That is the reviewer’s opinion, rather than a developer claim.
A city with a distinct mood
Greywood praises the visual and sound design for combining dark settings, neon, weather and futuristic music into an effective atmosphere. The review also highlights voice acting for interactable NPCs and reports 54 soundtrack tracks. Both the NPC and soundtrack figures are reported by the reviewer, not independently confirmed here.

People and relationships
A large cast helps the city feel populated, while friendship and romance give players reasons to engage with its residents beyond business and quests. The review lists the cast, romance options and full voice acting among the game’s strengths.
What makes it frustrating?
Tutorials do not explain enough
The review’s clearest criticism is that some systems are introduced without the guidance needed to use them. Fishing is one example: the player receives a rod but, according to Greywood, is not shown how to equip it or fish. That kind of omission can turn experimentation into guesswork, especially when several activities are competing for attention.

Finding your way around takes work
Greywood describes menu filtering as inadequate, quest tracking as cluttered and the district map as attractive but unhelpful for locating businesses. Fast travel is also inconvenient. These issues make the game’s many systems and destinations harder to manage, rather than helping the player stay focused on them.
Glitches and crashes
The review reports some glitches and crashes, though Greywood says they did not prevent enjoyment. The reviewer also reports minimal performance issues while playing on a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX with Radeon Graphics, 15 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU with 4 GB of VRAM. That describes one player’s experience; it is not a performance benchmark or an official system requirement.

Who is Nivalis Nights for?
Based on Greywood’s account, the game is best suited to players who enjoy juggling several cosy-sim activities and do not need every system explained or every destination easy to find. Its business, farming, fishing and relationship loops offer variety, while the city’s oppressive backdrop gives those routines a darker context.
Players who value clear onboarding, efficient maps and menus, or consistently polished technical performance may find the same mix frustrating. The review’s praise is strongest for atmosphere and activity; its main reservations concern how smoothly the game helps players navigate that activity.

Verdict
Greywood gives Nivalis Nights 9/10, citing its atmosphere, cast, voice acting and range of activities while also documenting poor guidance, navigation friction and technical issues. That score is the reviewer’s assessment, not a general audience rating. The review makes a persuasive case for the game’s distinctive blend of cosy routines and cyberpunk hardship, but its control of that busy experience is less convincing.
