The preview lists the game for Nintendo Switch 2, with an October 22, 2026 release date; it is an account of a play session, not a review of the finished game. What the preview says you can play
The session covered a mix of returning sports and a new contest. Table Tennis, Archery and Boxing return, while Thumb Wrestling is new in the preview. The activities serve different moods: Table Tennis and Thumb Wrestling are presented as direct head-to-head competition, while island activities put more emphasis on sightseeing than on a score-to-beat contest.

Returning sports and a new rivalry
- Table Tennis: a familiar, fast-paced contest that Lewis says helped spark the competitive feel.
- Archery and Boxing: returning sports included in the hands-on session.
- Thumb Wrestling: the new addition described in the preview, offering another short-form contest.
Wuhu Island as a place to explore
Skateboarding, Power Cruising and Prop Plane tours take players around an expanded Wuhu Island. Lewis particularly enjoyed exploring the island and flying into its volcano cave system. She connects the setting and Prop Plane sightseeing to Wii Sports Resort’s Island Flyover, but her nostalgia is a personal reaction, not a claim about how every returning player will feel. As she puts it: “I genuinely can’t wait to explore more of what the setting I fell in love with 17 years ago has to offer.”

Lewis describes several Joy-Con 2 input styles rather than one control scheme for every activity. Sports use motion gestures, and other activities use different positioning gestures. Skateboarding has a mouse-style input: the player pushes to move the board. Lewis calls the motion controls responsive, an impression from her session rather than a measured assessment of accuracy or latency.

What is known about playing with friends
The preview says online play is included and that players can compete with friends. It does not specify subscription requirements, matchmaking, player limits, network performance or other online details, so those should not be assumed from this account.

GamesRadar+’s October 6, 2026 preview lists Nintendo Switch 2 as the platform and October 22, 2026 as the release date. Confirm current availability and timing against an up-to-date product listing before buying, since the cited coverage is editorial rather than a retailer page.

Because Lewis reports a hands-on session, the preview does not establish that every mode was played, how the final version performs, or how well the finished game’s sports are balanced. Its useful early picture is a blend of familiar competitions, a new Thumb Wrestling event and sightseeing around Wuhu Island.
