Best overall approach: buy first-party exclusives, Nintendo-branded hardware and store exclusives from the official Nintendo Store; use EB Games when you want a physical game, a pre-owned price, local store access or a replacement accessory; and check other Canadian online retailers for bundles, local stock and Nintendo-listed demos. Compare the final checkout total—not just the sticker price—after tax, shipping, delivery date, format, return terms and stock are accounted for.
Nintendo Store offers advertised free shipping on orders of $65 or more, subject to restrictions. EB Games adds new and pre-owned inventory but charges shipping on many online orders. Digital purchases can be downloaded immediately after meeting Nintendo Account and eShop requirements, while physical cartridges can be shared between consoles and may be resold or bought used.

Which Canadian seller should you choose?
The right retailer depends on what you are buying and how soon you need it. There is no single store that is cheapest for every Switch game or accessory.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Choose Nintendo Store Canada for Nintendo-made hardware, first-party exclusives, merchandise, store exclusives and qualifying orders of $65 or more when its free-shipping offer applies.
- Choose EB Games Canada for new or pre-owned physical games, local store availability, trade-in and replacement-accessory shopping, and the ability to compare used and new prices.
- Check other online retailers for bundle promotions, competitive local stock and selected in-store demos identified on Nintendo’s retail-offers page. Participating retailers and promotional inventory can change.
Before paying, verify whether the listing is a cartridge, a download code or downloadable content; whether an item is new or pre-owned; the complete delivered price; the promised delivery date; and the applicable return or warranty policy.

Nintendo Store Canada: the direct source for Nintendo products
Nintendo’s Canadian store is the most direct route for Nintendo-branded hardware, first-party games, merchandise and store exclusives. It also presents sales and other official offers in one storefront, which can reduce the risk of buying an incompatible accessory or an unofficial product.
When the Nintendo Store is the better value
- You want a Nintendo-made controller, camera, Joy-Con set, console or licensed merchandise.
- You are ordering enough qualifying items to use the advertised free-shipping threshold.
- You want an official store-exclusive item or a first-party release from Nintendo’s own catalogue.
- You prefer to deal with Nintendo’s own physical-order and digital-product policies rather than a marketplace seller.
The store advertises “Free shipping on orders $65 or more. Restrictions apply.” Treat $65 as a threshold to verify in your cart, not as a guarantee for every product, destination or promotion.

Examples of Nintendo Store list prices
The Canadian store page has shown the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller at $109.99, with a 2025 listing date shown on the page. It has shown Joy-Con 2 pairs at $124.99 and the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera at $69.99, with 2026 listing dates shown. These are time-sensitive list prices, not a promise that the same figures or stock will be present when you order. Recheck the live product page and the checkout total.
What to check before placing a Nintendo Store order
- Open the individual product page and confirm the console generation or accessory model. A Switch 2 accessory and an original Switch accessory may not be interchangeable.
- Check whether the product is available to ship now, is a preorder or is grouped with a later release. A mixed cart can delay the order.
- Add the item to your cart and verify that the free-shipping offer has actually been applied when your subtotal reaches the qualifying amount.
- Review taxes, delivery address, estimated arrival and any restrictions shown at checkout.
- Save the order confirmation and read the physical-order return terms. If the purchase is digital, use Nintendo’s separate digital-product refund rules.
EB Games Canada: new, pre-owned and local-store flexibility
EB Games describes its Canadian offering as “Shop new and pre-owned games, toys, collectibles, and trading cards, plus consoles, controllers, and accessories for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.” Its combination of online ordering and stores across Canada makes it useful when you want a physical product, need to inspect availability locally or want to compare a used item with a new one.
Concrete new-versus-used examples
The Switch catalogue provides useful comparison points. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is listed at $84.99 new and $74.99 used, a $10 difference before tax and any shipping. A Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is listed at $99.99 new and $79.99 used, a $20 difference. A Nintendo Switch AC Adapter is listed at $39.99 new and $19.99 used, a $20 difference. Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controllers (left and right, Neon Red/Neon Blue) are listed at $109.99 new; the cited catalogue example does not provide a used price for that item.
Those figures are catalogue examples shown for 2026 and can change with stock, condition and location. A used item may be a strong value when the discount is meaningful and you can confirm condition, included parts and return eligibility. For a controller or adapter, check for the correct model, cables, battery performance and visible wear before accepting the item.

EB Games says online orders ship from Ontario. Its stated standard rate is $9.99 per shipment for orders under $100, plus $1.50 for every additional $100. Express shipping is $21.99 per shipment for orders under $100, plus $1.50 for every additional $100. Orders are processed within three business days; after shipment, standard delivery is stated as within ten business days and express delivery as within two business days.

- Challenge others anytime, anywhere, whether you're on the couch or on the go
- Play any way you want—locally, online, in TV mode, Tabletop mode, Handheld mode, or even with GameCube Controllers
- Fight faster and smarter with new and returning techniques, like the perfect shield and directional air dodge
- Face off in 2-4 player battles, or play against the computer
For example, a $74.99 used game does not cost $74.99 delivered if the order attracts the stated standard charge. Conversely, combining items can change the shipping calculation and may be cheaper than placing several separate orders. Release-date grouping, destination and current rates can alter the result, so confirm the amount in the cart rather than relying on a remembered formula.
Using an EB Games store
- Search the product online and select the correct condition—new or pre-owned—and the exact platform.
- Check whether the page shows stock at a nearby store or only online availability.
- If buying used, ask the store to confirm the cartridge, case, manuals or included accessories that come with that listing.
- For an accessory, match the model name and colour to your console before paying; similar-looking Joy-Con and adapter listings can serve different generations.
- Keep the receipt and review the return or exchange conditions. Online returns are subject to verification, and eligible cases may be handled online or in store.
Other online retailers: use them for bundles, stock and demos
Nintendo’s Canadian retail-offers page names EB Games, Walmart and Best Buy among participating retailers for selected promotions and in-store demos. That does not mean every location carries every product or that a promotion runs indefinitely. It means checking the broader market can uncover a bundle or a chance to try hardware before buying.
What to compare on a third-party listing
- Seller identity: confirm whether the retailer itself is selling the item or a marketplace seller is fulfilling it.
- Format: distinguish a cartridge from a download code and from DLC that requires a base game.
- Bundle contents: read every included game, accessory, download requirement and redemption deadline.
- Delivery: compare the promised date with your need, especially for a preorder or a gift.
- Returns: check whether opened software, digital codes or marketplace items have different rules.
A lower headline price can disappear after shipping, tax, a required memory card or an accessory that the bundle does not include. Use the final checkout screen as the comparison point.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutePhysical or digital: choose the format before choosing the retailer
Physical and digital purchases solve different problems. Nintendo Support says Canadian digital purchases require a Nintendo Account that has accessed the eShop on a Switch or Switch 2, plus internet access and eShop access to download the game.
Digital is best when convenience matters most
- You want to start playing as soon as the download completes.
- You do not want to store, carry or swap cartridges.
- You are comfortable tying the purchase to the Nintendo Account used for the transaction.
- You have enough console or microSD storage and a reliable internet connection for the download.
Before buying a code, confirm the Canadian region, the account that will redeem it and whether the listing is the full game rather than DLC. Digital refund rules are separate from Nintendo Store physical-order returns, so read the applicable policy before completing the transaction.
Physical is best when sharing, resale or used prices matter
- Play Nintendo states: “Physical games can be shared between consoles.”
- You want to lend a cartridge, build a collection or resell the game later.
- You want access to EB Games’ pre-owned market and local inventory.
- You prefer a product you can keep when changing accounts or consoles, subject to the game’s own update and online requirements.
Physical does not always mean completely offline: some games require updates, additional downloads or an internet connection for online features. Check the box, product page and storage requirements before assuming the cartridge contains every part of the experience.
Accessories: how to compare controllers, adapters and cameras
Accessories are where model compatibility and condition matter more than a small price difference. Start with the exact console generation, then compare new and pre-owned options, included parts, warranty coverage and return eligibility.

EB Games’ cited 2026 catalogue lists the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller at $99.99 new and $79.99 used. A new controller is the simpler choice when you want predictable condition and full retailer coverage. A used controller can save $20 if the sticks, buttons, wireless connection, charging port and included cable are in acceptable condition. Ask whether the used listing includes the original cable and whether the store’s verification process covers defects.

Nintendo Switch AC Adapter
The same catalogue lists the Nintendo Switch AC Adapter at $39.99 new and $19.99 used. Verify the model and output requirements before substituting a third-party charger or an adapter intended for another Nintendo console. For a used adapter, inspect the cable, plug and housing for fraying, bent contacts or heat damage, and confirm that the retailer will accept a return if it fails.
Joy-Con and Switch 2 accessories
EB Games lists Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controllers (left and right, Neon Red/Neon Blue) at $109.99 new in the cited catalogue. Nintendo’s store page has shown Joy-Con 2 pairs at $124.99 and a Nintendo Switch 2 Camera at $69.99. These names identify different product families; do not assume an original Switch Joy-Con pair is a substitute for a Joy-Con 2 pair or for a Switch 2 camera. Match the listing to your console and the game’s accessory requirements.
Bundles, promotions and in-store demos
Nintendo’s 2026 retail-offers page lists a Nintendo Switch + Nintendo Switch Sports + Leg Strap Bundle at an MSRP of $419.99 and a Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle at an MSRP of $749.99. MSRP is a reference price, not a guarantee that every retailer charges it or that the bundle is in stock.
The same page says selected EB Games, Walmart and Best Buy locations offer in-store demos. Use a demo to check controller comfort, screen visibility, camera or motion features and game setup before committing. Promotions are limited by date, stock and participating location, so confirm the store and terms rather than travelling based on an old listing.
Shipping, pickup and delivery: calculate the real cost
Use this checklist for every order:
- Record the item price and whether it is new, pre-owned, digital or a download code.
- Add any shipping charge shown for your destination. Nintendo’s advertised $65 free-shipping threshold and EB Games’ shipment formula are not interchangeable offers.
- Include tax and any required accessory, storage card or replacement cable.
- Check whether multiple items ship together or are split by release date. A preorder can delay other items or create separate shipments.
- Compare the promised arrival date with local pickup. A nearby store may be faster even when its shelf price is slightly higher.
- Save the checkout summary, especially for a limited promotion or a product with a short redemption window.
EB Games’ stated processing time is up to three business days before shipment. Its stated delivery windows begin after the order ships, not when the order is placed. Treat those windows as estimates and confirm the current service level at checkout.

Policies differ by product type and seller. Nintendo Canada separates digital-product refund rules from the physical Nintendo Store return policy. EB Games says online returns and exchanges are subject to verification and may be handled online or in store for eligible cases.
Before buying software
- Confirm the region and language information shown on the listing.
- Check whether the package is sealed, pre-owned, a cartridge or a code.
- Look for required downloads, online memberships, storage space or a base game needed for DLC.
- Read whether opened software or redeemed codes can be returned.
Before buying hardware
- Confirm compatibility with Switch or Switch 2 and the exact model number.
- Check what is included: cable, stand, strap, case, battery or other required part.
- For used goods, inspect condition and ask how defects are handled.
- Keep packaging and proof of purchase until the return period and initial testing are complete.
If an order arrives damaged
EB Games asks customers to report damaged orders promptly with photos of the package and shipping box. Photograph the outer carton, internal packing, shipping label and damaged item before discarding anything, then follow the current returns instructions. For any retailer, contact support quickly and retain the order number.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Comparing shelf prices instead of delivered prices
A used game can look cheaper until shipping is added. A free-shipping threshold can make a higher list price cheaper in the final cart. Always compare the same quantity, condition and delivery method.

Buying the wrong format
“Digital,” “download code,” “cartridge” and “DLC” are not synonyms. Read the format field and redemption instructions. A code may be region-limited, while DLC may require a game you do not own.
Assuming every store has the same promotion
Nintendo’s bundle and demo offers apply only to named participating retailers, locations, dates and available stock. Confirm the exact terms before travelling or preordering.
Overlooking model compatibility
Names such as Pro Controller, Joy-Con and camera can cover products designed for different console generations. Match the product to your console model and the game’s requirements.
Ignoring account and storage requirements
Digital purchases require the relevant Nintendo Account and eShop access, and downloads need internet connectivity and storage. Check these prerequisites before buying a code or deleting space at the last minute.
Practical buying decisions
You want a first-party exclusive today
Check Nintendo Store first for the official listing and availability. If you need a physical copy immediately, compare EB Games’ new and pre-owned stock at nearby stores, then include shipping or pickup time in the decision.
You want the lowest cost for an older physical game
Start with EB Games’ used listing and compare its delivered total with any new sale at another retailer. Inspect condition and return eligibility; a small used discount may not justify shipping or missing accessories.
You need a replacement controller or adapter
Identify the exact model, then compare new and used prices. The cited EB Games examples—$99.99 new/$79.99 used for the Pro Controller and $39.99 new/$19.99 used for the AC Adapter—show the potential savings, but current stock and condition decide whether the saving is worthwhile.
You are buying a console bundle
Compare the bundle’s included game, accessories and MSRP with separate purchases. Check Nintendo’s retail-offers page for current participating retailers and demos, then verify stock, delivery, warranty and return terms at the seller’s checkout.
You need instant access
Choose a digital purchase only after confirming Nintendo Account, eShop, internet and storage requirements. If you need a transferable or shareable copy, choose a physical cartridge instead.
