Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard says Brazil is one of the world’s leading video game markets and an important audience for the company. In an October 10, 2026 interview with Veja, she said Nintendo wants to expand its platform and bring Brazilian consumers more experiences over the coming years, while offering no specific investment, release, or supply targets.
What Nintendo says it plans for Brazil
Pritchard described Brazil as one of the world’s top 10 video game markets and said, in translation, “Brazil is incredibly important to Nintendo of America.” She also praised the connection Brazilian players and fans have with Nintendo and said the company was looking forward to expanding that relationship over the coming years.

The stated focus is building the Switch 2 platform through first-party and third-party games, and supporting the connection between the games and their players. Pritchard said Nintendo leaders are visiting and learning about Brazil to better support the company’s Latin American team. These are broad intentions: she did not announce a local store, a set investment, a schedule of new releases, or a quantified expansion plan.
What the Zelda demand means for special-edition products
Asked about reports of fast-selling physical pre-orders and Zelda accessories, Pritchard said Nintendo was impressed by the reception for the Ocarina of Time remake and understood that demand remained for the special-edition console and other products. She said the franchise’s 40th anniversary would be celebrated throughout the year and that Nintendo expected to bring more special-edition products to the region over time.

She did not give a restock date, unit count, or retailer, so her comments are not a promise of an immediate Brazilian restock or guaranteed local availability.
The remake makes Brazilian Portuguese a Zelda milestone
In a separate interview at Brasil Game Show 2026, Nintendo of America Latin America marketing director Romina Whitlock described the Ocarina of Time remake as the first game in the Zelda franchise to receive Brazilian Portuguese dubbing. Omelete reports the game is scheduled for November 5, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.

Whitlock said localization takes years of preparation and that timing depends partly on how much text a game contains. She also highlighted the use of Brazilian voice actors, saying Portuguese audio helps players fully enjoy the game, not just supports sales. Responding to the recurring request for games localized in Brazilian Portuguese, she said: “Não acho que seja um pedido demais ter jogos localizados” (“I don’t think it’s too much to ask for localized games”).
Portuguese support is expanding, but not uniform
Pritchard said two-thirds of Nintendo first-party titles released since Switch 2 launched had been localized in Portuguese, and said the company was committed to maintaining its focus in this area. That is her account of a defined subset of releases, not a title-by-title audit or a promise that every future game will include Brazilian Portuguese.

There is also earlier evidence of language support reaching existing Zelda games. Nintendo’s free Brazilian Portuguese text updates for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom began June 5, 2025, for both Switch and Switch 2, according to Omelete. Nintendo of America public relations and events manager Pilar Pueblita described those updates as a way to thank Brazilian fans and show the company was listening.
