The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time page is live for Nintendo Switch 2, but it is an announced preorder for November 5, 2026—not a game you can play on October 16. Nintendo’s available regional index confirms at least one October 16 release, Tales of Eternia Remastered for Nintendo Switch 2, while the advertised “20-plus games” list is not verified.
What Nintendo’s October 16 evidence actually confirms
The clearest official evidence is Nintendo España’s news index, updated October 16, 2026. It shows an item titled “Nintendo eShop highlights – 15-10-2026” and a separate listing for Tales of Eternia Remastered Nintendo Switch 2 – 16-10-2026. That establishes dated eShop coverage in Spain and at least one release on October 16.

The index does not publish the complete group of more than 20 games, and it does not establish whether the headline refers to Spain, another national storefront, or a cross-region roundup. Until the relevant regional eShop highlights page is available, treating the 20-plus count as a confirmed global list would overstate what Nintendo has published.
| Item | What is confirmed | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time | Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive; release date November 5, 2026 | It is not an October 16 launch and cannot be played before release |
| Tales of Eternia Remastered | Nintendo España’s October 16 index lists a Nintendo Switch 2 release | A worldwide release schedule or additional regional versions |

Is the Ocarina of Time page live, and can you play it now?
Yes, Nintendo’s official product page is live. It identifies The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive with a November 5, 2026 release date. The page is therefore an announcement and preorder listing, not evidence that the game has launched.
#1 Best Overall
- This is the world edition. It has different packaging but is fully authentic and works on US region 3DS systems.
- The Legend of Zelda veterans can look forward to the Master Quest - a second quest with revamped puzzles and redesigned dungeons.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a masterful improvement on one of the landmark releases in video game history.
- “E10+”, w/Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes
Nintendo’s October 14, 2026 news post says the overview trailer demonstrates enhanced visuals and new gameplay elements, and repeats the November 5 launch date. Unless Nintendo changes that date, the remake will remain unavailable to play on October 16. A live store page should not be confused with an active download or an early-access entitlement.
What is new in the Switch 2 version?
Nintendo describes this edition as rebuilt for Switch 2 rather than a simple rerelease. Its official product copy says: “Enjoy completely overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, and symphonic orchestral music.” The listing also advertises modernized interaction and display support.
- Presentation: overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue and a symphonic orchestral soundtrack.
- Controls: jump and dash controls, plus modern camera movements that differ from the original control scheme.
- Modes: handheld, tabletop and TV play on Nintendo Switch 2.
- Players: single-player only.
- Display and audio: HDR and surround sound are supported when compatible equipment is used.
These are advertised features, not independent performance measurements. Nintendo has not supplied a download-size figure, frame-rate claim, sales statistic or player-count estimate in the available material.

How the upcoming remake differs from older ways to play
| Version or route | Availability status in the announcement | Presentation and controls | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 remake | Upcoming; November 5, 2026 | Rebuilt visuals, voiced scenes, expanded dialogue, orchestral music, jump, dash and modern camera movement | ZELDA NOTES and amiibo functionality |
| Nintendo 64 service version | Existing service option, subject to the service and region | Legacy presentation and original control approach | Not the Switch 2 remake’s advertised features |
| Older 3DS edition | Existing older edition where available | Older remake presentation and controls | Separate from the Switch 2 product and its ZELDA NOTES service |
The Switch 2 release is the choice for the newly advertised presentation and control changes. The Nintendo 64 service and 3DS versions remain relevant only if you need an already available edition or do not own Nintendo Switch 2.

- Play the original Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
- Or the Master Quest edition with many bonus features
ZELDA NOTES and amiibo support
The store listing promotes ZELDA NOTES, a game-specific service in the Nintendo Switch App. It also says existing Zelda amiibo provide in-game extras. Nintendo has announced new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures for 2027; those figures are intended to unlock special in-game masks.
The 2027 amiibo announcement is separate from the November 5 game launch. Nintendo has not provided a price, regional stock schedule or release-day availability for those figures in the information available here.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the platform: the advertised remake is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, not the original Nintendo Switch edition.
- Check the date: the announced launch is November 5, 2026, so a preorder page does not grant access on October 16.
- Choose a format: distinguish the digital preorder listing from any physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition offered in your region. Prices and stock are not stated in Nintendo’s announcement.
- Check accessories: existing Zelda amiibo are supported, while Young Link and Young Zelda figures are announced for 2027.
- Verify your equipment: HDR and surround sound require compatible display and audio hardware; handheld and tabletop play do not require those TV features.
Bottom line on the October 16 update
Ocarina of Time is real and officially listed, but its November 5 release date means it is not part of an October 16 playable launch. The only specifically dated October 16 game confirmed by the available regional index is Tales of Eternia Remastered for Nintendo Switch 2. The broader 20-plus-games claim remains region-specific or unsubstantiated until Nintendo publishes the corresponding complete eShop highlights list.
