Nintendo’s individual product pages describe digital editions. The two games share an eight-traveler premise and turn-based combat, but their settings, systems and estimated download sizes differ.

Nintendo’s official product pages: Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II. Nintendo’s listing says the original Octopath Traveler first released in 2018 and sold over 3 million copies worldwide (Nintendo, 2026 listing). Square Enix reported more than 6 million copies worldwide shipped and sold across the HD-2D series in its July 13, 2026 announcement.
Digital editions and the physical bundle
Nintendo’s individual listings are for digital editions. Separately, Square Enix said the two-game Switch 2 bundle will be available digitally and physically: “The Physical edition for Nintendo Switch™ 2 will also be available as a bundle.” This establishes a physical bundle containing both titles; it does not establish that each game is sold as an individual physical Switch 2 edition. See the Square Enix announcement.
