The Ninja FlexDrawer DZ071ANZ is a 6.6L air fryer that can cook as one large MegaZone or split into two 3.3L zones. Its Smart Finish function coordinates different cooking times, while Match Cook copies settings between zones. The key qualification for Australian and New Zealand buyers: CHOICE currently labels this model discontinued, and its public review does not show the detailed test results behind its 79% Expert Rating.
What the DZ071ANZ is—and what it is not
The DZ071ANZ is the regional model identified in the DZ071ANZ Owner’s Guide. It is a single-drawer appliance with a removable divider, not two separate baskets. With the divider removed, the drawer is a 6.6L MegaZone; with it installed, the drawer becomes two 3.3L cooking zones.

Do not assume that a listing for the US-market DZ071 or the larger AF500 FlexDrawer describes this exact regional model. Check the complete model number on the appliance or its packaging when confirming stock, warranty, or spare-part compatibility.
How the MegaZone, Smart Finish and Match Cook work
One large zone or two smaller zones
Use the drawer as one 6.6L space when the food needs the full width, or fit the divider to cook two foods separately. The guide describes six cooking functions: air fry, grill, roast, bake, reheat and dehydrate. CHOICE lists two non-stick crisper plates and a basket divider; Appliances Online also lists those components and a recipe book with 20 recipes and cooking charts. These are published inclusions, not an independent assessment of cooking performance.

Smart Finish
Smart Finish is for cooking different foods in the two zones with different settings while arranging for both zones to finish at the same time. It is useful when one food needs a longer cook than the other and you want to serve them together.
Match Cook
Match Cook copies Zone 1’s settings to Zone 2. The guide presents it as an option for a larger amount of the same food, or similar foods, cooked across both zones.

If using both zones without Smart Finish or Match Cook, the owner’s guide warns that food in the longer-time zone may finish before its set time. Check the food frequently rather than assuming both zones will run independently to their full durations.
What the published review does—and does not—tell you
CHOICE’s public DZ071ANZ page displays a 79% Expert Rating and labels the product “Discontinued model.” The detailed recommendation status and results are behind member access. The public page does not establish how the appliance performed in CHOICE’s tests of frozen chips, chicken wings, crumbed chicken, roast pork, ease of use, cleaning or controls. The score alone is not enough to identify particular strengths or weaknesses, and the public information does not support calling it a CHOICE recommendation.

Appliances Online’s page for the Ninja FlexDrawer Air Fryer uses DZ071 in its product title. For a regional purchase, verify that the unit itself is DZ071ANZ rather than relying on a shortened listing title.

Setup, clearances and safe use
The owner’s guide specifies indoor household countertop use. Before cooking, make sure the appliance and basket are clean and dry, and keep the air intake and outlet vents uncovered. The guide states: “When using this appliance, provide at least 6 inches (15.25 cm) of space above and on all sides for air circulation.”
- Use protective mitts: the appliance’s surfaces become hot during operation.
- Do not use accessories that SharkNinja does not recommend or sell, and do not use the appliance for deep frying.
- Use a food thermometer to check recommended internal temperatures; the guide notes that socket voltage can affect performance.
Should you consider buying one?
The layout makes sense if you expect to switch between cooking a larger item in one drawer and cooking two foods in separate zones. Smart Finish addresses a practical timing problem, and Match Cook avoids setting the same programme twice. Whether the DZ071ANZ is the right choice for your kitchen still depends on current local availability and what you value in day-to-day use.

Because CHOICE lists it as discontinued, do not rely on an old listed price or assume a retailer listing means current stock. Before purchasing, verify all of the following with the seller:
- The exact regional model is DZ071ANZ.
- The unit is new or used as described, and the warranty applies to your purchase and location.
- Replacement plates, drawer or divider—if needed—are confirmed as compatible with the DZ071ANZ.
- The appliance’s real counter footprint and 7.7–7.75kg listed weight suit your available space and handling needs.
The available public review evidence does not provide detailed comparative cooking-test outcomes. When comparing it with another air fryer, focus on whether you need a full-width basket or two zones, whether coordinated finishing matters, the appliance’s footprint, cleaning preferences, parts availability, warranty and verified current stock.
