The Nike Winflo 12 is best considered a cushioned daily trainer for steady, routine runs—not a shoe aimed primarily at tempo sessions or racing. Nike lists it at $110 in the US, with regular and wide fit selections. Its thick Cushlon 3.0 foam and heel Air unit are designed to provide cushioning, but the shoe’s weight and fit details matter when deciding whether it suits you.
What the Winflo 12 is designed for
Nike describes the Winflo 12 as a men’s road-running shoe. Its construction includes a Cushlon 3.0 foam midsole, a Nike Air unit in the heel, open-hole mesh and flex grooves in the outsole. Nike says the foam stack is higher than the Winflo 11’s and that the toe box was widened; those are manufacturer claims rather than independent findings. Nike’s product page lists the shoe for $110 in the US, though price and availability can change.

RunRepeat’s independent assessment places the shoe more naturally in the daily-running category than in tempo or racing use. The reviewer reports substantial shock absorption and bounce, but also a heavy-footed feel, and rates it less favorably for faster workouts and racing. That is RunRepeat’s evaluation, not a universal result or a firsthand wear test for this review. Read RunRepeat’s review and lab results.

Published weight figures differ because the sources and methods differ: Nike lists approximately 322 g (11.37 oz) for a men’s US size 10, while RunRepeat reports 301 g (10.6 oz) from its own assessment. Treat these as source-specific figures, not interchangeable specifications. Nike lists a 10 mm heel-to-toe drop; RunRepeat measured 10.6 mm in its lab.
#1 Best Overall
- The upper is made of an open-hole mesh for optimal breathability.
- A higher stack of Cushlon 3.0 foam than previous models gives you more comfort underfoot. It works with a Nike Air unit in the heel to help energize your every stride.
- We widened the toe box, so you have a little more room in the forefoot. Flex grooves in the outsole offer integrated flexibility and help aid your heel-to-toe stride.
- Increased Cushlon 3.0 foam stack height compared to the Winflo 11

RunRepeat measured a 40.9 mm heel stack and 30.3 mm forefoot stack, and a midsole softness reading of 28.3 AC using an Asker C durometer. Those are reviewer measurements, not Nike specifications. Together with its qualitative assessment, they help explain why the shoe may appeal to runners seeking a cushioned daily option, while the reported heavy-footed feel may be less appealing if you prioritize a light, quick ride.
How the fit may work for you
Nike offers regular and wide fit selections on its US product page and says the forefoot has more room than the previous model. That does not mean every part of the toe box is broad. RunRepeat measured 98.0 mm of overall width at its measurement point, a 72.6 mm toe-box width and 24.4 mm of toe-box height. It describes the toe box as tapered, with relatively low vertical clearance, despite finding generous overall width.

In practice, a wide option or a roomier forefoot may help some feet, but toe shape and foot volume can change how the shoe feels. If you need space above your toes, have a foot shape that does not suit tapered fronts, or are between widths, try it on before buying if possible.

- Consider it if you want a cushioned shoe for routine road runs and the listed price fits your budget.
- Look more closely at fit if you need extra width: Nike offers a wide selection, but the tapered toe shape and low vertical clearance reported by RunRepeat may still be a concern.
- Consider another type of shoe if your priority is a light, fast-feeling option for tempo workouts or racing; RunRepeat’s assessment is less favorable for those uses.
Verdict
The Winflo 12 makes the most sense as a cushioned everyday road-running shoe, with a US list price of $110 on Nike’s product page at the time represented by the cited listing. Its design and independent assessment point more toward routine running than speed-focused training. Whether it is worth buying depends chiefly on whether you like a substantial, cushioned feel and whether its toe-box shape works for your foot.
