Nike’s Holiday 2026 ACG collection puts its brightest purple into two very different winter solutions: the 1,000-fill Lava Flow Ultralight Jacket for lightweight insulation and the Misery Ridge jacket-and-trouser system for waterproof protection. The Lava Flow is reported at $400 in the US, while Misery Ridge is scheduled for December 1 at $450 for the jacket and $400 for the trousers.
What Nike ACG is releasing for Holiday 2026
The collection’s headline purple piece is the Lava Flow Ultralight Jacket, available in Bold Berry and Monarch Purple. It is an insulated layer designed to deliver maximum warmth with minimal weight, rather than a fully waterproof outer shell.

The Misery Ridge GORE-TEX system takes the opposite approach. Its updated jacket is joined by matching trousers for the first time, creating a head-to-toe three-layer shell intended for sustained rain, snow, wind and rapidly changing mountain conditions.
Nike says the ACG team developed the collection after working in Yunnan, China, where conditions included rain, snow, ice and quick changes at high altitude. The broader color story draws from granite, limestone and alpine skies, then adds ACG safety orange and vivid purple.

Lava Flow Ultralight Jacket: the purple 1,000-fill insulation layer
Down, fabric and warmth technology
Nike describes the Lava Flow as having the highest warmth-to-weight ratio of any ACG jacket it has made so far, according to T3’s 2026 report. It uses 1,000-fill-power ExpeDRY Gold goose down, Nike Therma-FIT ADV insulation technology and a water-repellent outer fabric.
ExpeDRY bonds tiny amounts of recycled gold recovered from electronic waste to the down. Nike’s stated purpose is to help the fill resist clumping when exposed to sweat, humidity and moisture. That treatment does not turn the jacket into a waterproof shell: the outer is water-repellent, while the Misery Ridge garments provide the collection’s dedicated waterproof protection.
Weight and packability
T3 reports a men’s medium at 255 g (9 oz) and a women’s small at 217 g (7.6 oz). Those are size-specific figures, so larger or smaller sizes will not weigh the same. The jacket stuffs into its own pocket and reportedly compresses to a package smaller than a 32-ounce water bottle.

- The state's vast wilderness and climate has served as inspiration for our designs

- This shell takes its name from Misery Ridge, the centerpiece of the magnificent Smith Rock State Park
Colors, release information and price
- Colors: Bold Berry and Monarch Purple are the reported purple options. T3 also reported a blue men’s version available at the time of its coverage.
- US price: $400, as reported for the Holiday 2026 model.
- UK price: T3 lists £369.99; availability varied by color and gender-specific listing when reported, with the women’s purple version marked “coming soon.”
The Lava Flow is the practical choice when compressibility, low weight and supplemental warmth matter more than guaranteed protection in prolonged precipitation.
Misery Ridge: a complete three-layer GORE-TEX shell
How the shell is built
The updated Misery Ridge jacket uses a three-layer GORE-TEX construction with Nike Storm-FIT ADV. Nike explains that the waterproof membrane is sandwiched between a durable face fabric and an inner liner. The matching trousers bring the same shell approach to the lower body, making this the first reported Misery Ridge jacket-and-trouser pairing.
Features for changing mountain weather
T3 reports articulated construction, adjustable details, secure storage and zippered ventilation. Those features are aimed at mobility, fit adjustment and heat management while moving, rather than at insulation. You would normally layer the Misery Ridge shell over a down or synthetic midlayer such as the Lava Flow when conditions demand both warmth and waterproof coverage.

How to choose between the two
Choose Lava Flow when weight and warmth come first
- You need an insulating layer that disappears into a pack.
- You want the purple color options and the lowest reported garment weights.
- Your outer layer already supplies dependable waterproofing.
Choose Misery Ridge when precipitation is the main threat
- You expect sustained rain, wet snow, wind or abrasive alpine conditions.
- You want one shell system covering both torso and legs.
- You need ventilation, adjustment and storage features while moving.
Use them together for a layered setup
The products solve different problems rather than replacing one another. Lava Flow supplies insulation; Misery Ridge supplies the waterproof shell. In a cold, wet forecast, wearing the down jacket beneath the GORE-TEX shell is the logical combination, provided the fit leaves room for layering.
The ACG design idea behind the collection
The lightweight emphasis reflects ACG’s older approach to mountain movement. Nike’s corporate history quotes climber Rick Ridgeway describing early lightweight footwear: “What was really cool about those LDVs is that you need to hop around on rocks. This was a rough hike so you could boulder hop. They breathed better. They were functionally superior to the more rigid traditional trekking shoe.” That historical comment explains the collection’s mobility-minded design language; it is not a performance test of the Holiday 2026 garments.
What is known about availability
The clearest timing reported for the new shell pieces is December 1, 2026, in the US. Lava Flow coverage identifies the Holiday 2026 model and prices but does not establish one universal release date for every market. Regional listings, color drops and size inventory can differ, so check Nike’s local ACG product page on release day rather than assuming that a reported color or size remains available.
