Nifty’s October 13 setup was cautiously positive, not a confirmed bullish trend. Before the open, GIFT Nifty indicated a higher start; The Times of India later reported that the NIFTY 50 opened at 22,437, up 73.95 points, or 0.33%. That opening move followed a 0.70% fall on October 12, while technical commentary warned that support could still be tested. These are dated snapshots, not a forecast of the October 13 close.
What the October 13 figures show
The premarket indication pointed upward, and the reported open was higher. But the figures refer to different instruments and moments: the NIFTY 50 is the cash index, while GIFT Nifty is a futures contract. NSE describes Nifty futures as based on the NIFTY 50 benchmark. A futures quote can indicate expectations for the opening, but it is not the cash index’s realized price or a promise about where the market will finish.

| Figure | Instrument and timing | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|
| 22,363.35, down 157.10 points (0.70%) | NIFTY 50 close on October 12, reported by NSE | The cash index ended the previous session lower. |
| 22,423.50 | GIFT Nifty futures displayed by NSE at 02:29 IST on October 13 | A time-stamped premarket futures indication; it is not a live quote for the whole session. |
| Around 22,423, nearly 41 points above the prior Nifty futures close | GIFT Nifty, in Livemint’s premarket report published at 06:45 IST on October 13 | That report read the futures move as signaling a positive start. |
| 22,437, up 73.95 points (0.33%) | NIFTY 50 opening level, reported by The Times of India on October 13 | The reported opening was higher, but it does not establish the closing outcome. |
The two GIFT Nifty figures are reported snapshots, and the premarket report compares its quote with the prior futures close—not with the October 12 cash-index close. Treating those as interchangeable would create a misleading comparison.
Why the outlook remains cautious
The positive opening signal came after a weak prior session. Livemint quoted Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities, who said a dark cloud cover pattern suggested the previous session’s positive momentum was losing strength. That is an attributed technical interpretation, not proof that the index must fall.

Livemint also quoted Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money: “Indian equities are likely to remain volatile and cautious as elevated crude oil prices, mounting inflation concerns and escalating geopolitical tensions weigh on investor sentiment.” The Times of India also cited crude prices, foreign investor selling, retail inflation, geopolitical developments, monetary-policy expectations and weakness in global markets as risks. These factors can affect sentiment and volatility; none determines the index’s direction on its own.
Analyst support and resistance levels
Both reports identified 22,300 as support, but their resistance levels differed. These are analyst-marked reference points, not guaranteed turning points or a single agreed trading range.

| Source and timing | Support | Resistance | Additional context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rupak De, quoted by Livemint in its October 13 premarket report | 22,300 | 22,420 and 22,650 | De said a break below support could expose the index to 22,100 or lower. |
| The Times of India, October 13 live coverage | 22,300 | 22,800 and 22,900 | Levels reported separately from Livemint’s analyst commentary. |
The difference between the resistance levels should be preserved rather than blended into a wider range: the publications reported different technical views. Traders using these levels would need to identify which analyst’s framework they are following and assess price action against it.

How to use this one-day forecast
“Cautiously bullish” describes the balance of evidence available around the open: a higher futures indication and a reported positive opening on one side, and a declining prior close, weakening-momentum commentary and macroeconomic risks on the other. It does not mean that a profitable trade is likely, nor does it account for an individual investor’s objectives, time horizon or tolerance for loss.

- Keep each quote tied to its timestamp and instrument; do not treat a premarket futures snapshot as a current cash-index price.
- Use 22,300 and the separately reported resistance levels as attributed technical opinions, not certain support or targets.
- Do not infer the October 13 closing level from the opening report. The available session figures here establish the open, not the close.
- Remember that futures involve market risk. A directional forecast alone does not define position size, entry, exit or an acceptable loss.
