Nifty Metal includes a maximum of 15 NSE-listed stocks and is calculated using free-float market capitalisation, according to the NSE index methodology. Why a separate September rally is not the explanation
Business Standard reported a different Nifty Metal rally on September 23, 2026: the index was up 1.4% at 13,172.60 at 11:18 a.m., compared with a 0.40% gain for the Nifty 50. That report discussed SAIL’s September 3 rating upgrade by India Ratings and Research, from IND AA to IND AA+ with a Stable outlook, as well as improved June-quarter EBITDA and company plans and operations. Those developments were reported as context for the September session; they do not establish why stocks were gaining in the October 12 snapshot.
