Two OGC Nice supporters were acquitted on 2 October 2026 over a confrontation with players after the club’s 3–1 defeat away to Lorient on 30 November 2025. Le Parisien reported that police witnesses had not seen the two defendants commit violence and viewed their actions as an effort to calm the situation. The acquittal concerns Anthony D. and Mohamed C.; it does not establish that no violence occurred in the crowd.
What happened after Nice lost to Lorient?
According to Le Parisien’s account of the hearing, more than 200 supporters gathered outside OGC Nice’s training centre when the team returned from the 3–1 away defeat on 30 November 2025. The newspaper’s figure is an estimate, not an official count.
The returning bus was blocked. Le Parisien reported that Anthony D., 32, and Mohamed C., 42, were allowed aboard and told players—in forceful, vulgar language—that the supporters wanted only to talk. Club officials then agreed that players could walk the short distance from the bus to the training-centre gates through the crowd. Some passed without incident; others encountered spitting, insults and a violent jostle.
Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi filed complaints the following day. A report published by Nice Radio on 31 May 2026, before the verdict, described allegations including punches and kicks. Those allegations should not be treated as findings against the two men who were acquitted.

Why were the two supporters acquitted?
The case turned on competing accounts of what Anthony D. and Mohamed C. did. Prosecutor Damien Martinelli characterized the episode as a “guet-apens” (ambush) and argued that the players would not have left the bus without the defendants’ intervention. The defense said the men had tried to calm the situation and disputed that they took part in violence.
Le Parisien reported that police witnesses did not say they had seen either defendant commit violence and considered the men’s actions an attempt to de-escalate the situation. The court acquitted them on 2 October 2026. The newspaper’s report does not provide the full written judgment, so it cannot establish the judges’ complete legal reasoning or be read as a finding that no assault took place.

Who were the defendants?
Le Parisien identified the men only as Anthony D. and Mohamed C. and reported that both had held responsibilities in the Populaire Sud supporters’ group and had earlier convictions for football-related violence. Their initials are retained here, as in the report.
What is known about the complaints and aftermath?
Boga and Moffi were the players reported to have filed complaints after the incident. Le Parisien said they were psychologically marked by the confrontation, did not play for Nice again and left the club in 2026. Those are the newspaper’s reported details about the aftermath, not a finding about the defendants’ responsibility.

Nice Radio’s pre-verdict report also mentioned a prior medical incapacity of five days for one player and none for the other. Because that report predates the acquittal and describes allegations, those figures are not findings against the defendants and do not explain the verdict.

The acquittal applies to the two defendants in this case. The reporting does not show that the court cleared every person in the crowd or ruled that no violence occurred. It also does not supply the judgment or confirm whether an appeal was filed. L’Équipe’s search-result summary likewise reported the acquittal and noted the prosecution’s reliance in part on a police commander’s report; it is corroboration, not a substitute for the full judgment.
