In the United States, local Sunday-afternoon games generally come from CBS or FOX, while national games are assigned to services such as NBC, ESPN/ABC, Prime Video, NFL Network, YouTube or Netflix. NFL+ is useful for live local and primetime games on a phone or tablet, but it is not a replacement for television access or for out-of-market Sunday-afternoon coverage. This guide reflects NFL support information available October 13, 2026, including the 2026 season’s stated plan features.
Start with the game, not the subscription
Streaming rights are divided by game window, location and device. A service that carries Sunday Night Football may not carry your team’s Sunday-afternoon game, and a plan that provides a live mobile stream may not provide a television stream.

| What you want to watch | Official route identified by the NFL | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Local Sunday-afternoon regular-season game | CBS or FOX in your local market; NFL+ live stream on a phone or tablet | Your local listing is determined by ZIP code and broadcast market, not simply by your preferred team. |
| Sunday Night Football | NBC; NFL+ on a phone or tablet | NFL+ live video is mobile-focused for local and primetime games. |
| Monday Night Football | ESPN or ABC; NFL+ on a phone or tablet | Provider access and the current schedule still apply. |
| Thursday Night Football or the Black Friday game | Prime Video | Confirm the particular season’s listing because assignments can change. |
| Christmas Day games | Netflix | The NFL identifies exclusive Christmas games; check the current season’s slate. |
| Select exclusive games | NFL Network | The NFL’s 2026 product page lists seven exclusive live NFL Network games for that season. |
| São Paulo game | YouTube | Verify the game’s listing and any regional restrictions. |
| Out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games | NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube or YouTube TV | This is separate from NFL+ and NFL+ Premium. |
| Replays or All-22 coaches film | NFL+ Premium | These are replay features, not live out-of-market Sunday-afternoon access. |
| Audio for every game | NFL+ live audio | Supported devices and app details can change. |
Use the NFL’s ZIP-code Ways to Watch lookup and the game’s official listing before paying. That single check resolves many apparent “missing game” problems.
What “local” means in NFL streaming
“Local” is a broadcast-market designation. The NFL describes a local game as one available on television in your local market. It does not mean that a game is automatically local because you support the home team, live in the team’s state, or selected that team in an app.

For Sunday afternoon, CBS and FOX affiliates receive different games in different areas. Two households in neighboring ZIP codes can therefore see different matchups. Your local affiliate may also be available through a live-TV service only if that service carries the affiliate serving your address.
How to verify your market
- Find the game and kickoff time on the NFL schedule.
- Use the NFL’s ZIP-code Ways to Watch lookup for your address.
- Identify whether the result names CBS, FOX or another national broadcaster.
- If you plan to stream on a television or computer, confirm that your provider carries the named local affiliate and supports NFL access.
Do this before subscribing. A national sports package cannot change which Sunday-afternoon game your local market receives.
NFL+ explained: useful, but not a universal live-TV replacement
NFL+ is a U.S.-only service and is unavailable in U.S. territories. NFL support describes live local and primetime regular-season and postseason games on phones and tablets, live out-of-market preseason games, NFL Network, live game audio and library content. The decisive limitation is that live out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games are not included.

What you can watch live with NFL+
For a local or primetime game, NFL+ can be the simplest option when a phone or tablet is acceptable. It also provides live audio when video rights or your connection are unsuitable. The exact supported-device list and permissions are controlled by current NFL help pages and can change.
What NFL+ cannot do
NFL+ does not turn every game into a live stream on every screen. It does not supply live out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games, and its live video permission is narrower than its replay library. Buying Premium for replays or All-22 film does not add Sunday Ticket rights.
Live-TV services and local channels
A live-TV streaming service is the closest substitute for a traditional television package when you need CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN or ABC on a television or connected device. The critical question is not whether a service advertises “sports”; it is whether it carries the correct local affiliate in your ZIP code and the national network assigned to your game.

Provider login and supported screens
The NFL says connected-TV and desktop/web viewing may require sign-in through a cable or streaming provider. Even when the NFL app is installed on a smart television, the app may ask you to authenticate with an eligible provider. Check the NFL’s supported-provider information and your service’s local-channel map before game day.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWhen live TV is the better fit
- You want local Sunday-afternoon games on a television rather than a phone.
- Your household needs CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN and ABC for several different game windows.
- You already pay for an eligible provider and can authenticate without another subscription.
- You want a conventional channel guide and recording features supplied by the provider.
Lineups are market-specific. Do not assume that a provider carries every network affiliate nationwide, and do not treat a trial or promotional lineup as a permanent guarantee.
Sunday Ticket for out-of-market Sunday afternoons
If your priority is following a team that is not being shown in your local Sunday-afternoon market, the NFL identifies NFL Sunday Ticket as the relevant route. It is available through YouTube and YouTube TV and is separate from both NFL+ tiers.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
That separation matters when comparing plans. NFL+ Premium’s full-game, condensed and All-22 replays do not provide a live substitute for an out-of-market Sunday-afternoon broadcast. Sunday Ticket’s terms, package options and current-season availability should be checked through the official YouTube or YouTube TV listing before purchase.
Use this route when
- Your team’s Sunday-afternoon game is consistently outside your local broadcast selection.
- You need live video rather than a later replay.
- You are willing to use the YouTube or YouTube TV platform and meet its location and device requirements.
National game windows have different homes
National rights are not interchangeable. The NFL’s current guide assigns Sunday Night Football to NBC, Monday Night Football to ESPN/ABC, Thursday Night Football and the Black Friday game to Prime Video, Christmas Day games to Netflix, select games to NFL Network and the São Paulo game to YouTube. These assignments are season- and game-specific, so confirm the listing rather than relying on a previous season’s routine.

A practical decision process
- Name the exact game. Record the teams, date, kickoff time and whether it is Sunday afternoon, Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday night, a holiday game or an international game.
- Check your ZIP code. Use the NFL’s local-market lookup to determine whether a Sunday-afternoon game is local.
- Choose the rights holder. Select CBS/FOX, NBC, ESPN/ABC, Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube or NFL Network according to the listing.
- Choose the screen. If a phone or tablet is acceptable and the game is local or primetime, NFL+ may work. For television or desktop viewing, verify provider authentication and supported devices.
- Check for an out-of-market case. If the Sunday-afternoon game is not local, compare Sunday Ticket rather than assuming NFL+ Premium covers it.
- Check replay needs separately. Choose NFL+ Premium for full, condensed or All-22 replays, not as a live out-of-market package.
- Review current terms. Confirm blackout notices, geographic eligibility, device support and the current season’s price on the official service page before checkout.
Blackouts, location and device limits
NFL support cautions that availability is subject to broadcast rights and blackout restrictions. A stream can be unavailable even when your subscription is active if the game is outside the plan’s rights, your location is not eligible, or the device is not an approved live-viewing screen.
If a game is missing from NFL+
- Check whether it is an out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season game; NFL+ does not carry that live video.
- Confirm that you are using a supported phone or tablet for NFL+ live video.
- Check the local-market result and the broadcaster assigned to the game.
- Look for a separate provider login requirement on connected TV or web.
If a connected television asks you to sign in
That prompt usually indicates that the television or web stream requires authentication through an eligible cable or live-TV provider. Verify the provider’s NFL access and local affiliate lineup; an NFL+ subscription alone does not necessarily unlock every connected-TV channel stream.
If video is unavailable but you need the game
NFL+ live audio is the broadest fallback described by the NFL, with live audio for every game on supported devices. For visual coverage, use the broadcaster or package assigned to that game instead of repeatedly reinstalling an app or changing plans at random.
Prices and requirements
Current comparable subscription prices, promotions and a single nationwide live-TV lineup are not established by the NFL material used for this comparison. Prices can vary by season, billing term and platform. Check the official NFL+, NFL Sunday Ticket, YouTube/YouTube TV and broadcaster pages for the offer shown to your location at the time you subscribe.
Before paying, confirm five items: the game’s rights holder, your local-market status, the permitted device, any required provider login and blackout or geographic restrictions. These checks are more important than a headline price because a cheaper plan that lacks the game is not a functional solution.
Viewers outside the United States
NFL+ is intended for the United States and is unavailable in U.S. territories. For international viewers, the NFL directs fans to DAZN’s NFL Game Pass International. Rights, blackout rules and available games differ by country, so use the international listing for your residence rather than applying the U.S. local-channel rules.
Quick Recap
Bottom-line choice by viewing need
- Local or primetime game on a phone or tablet: NFL+ is the direct NFL route, subject to current rights and device support.
- Local game on a television: Use the CBS or FOX affiliate through an eligible live-TV or broadcast-provider route for your ZIP code.
- Out-of-market Sunday-afternoon game live: Use NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube or YouTube TV; NFL+ is not a substitute.
- Replays, condensed games or All-22: NFL+ Premium is the relevant tier.
- Thursday, Christmas, Monday, Sunday night or special international games: Follow the broadcaster named for that specific game.
- Any uncertain case: Check the NFL schedule, ZIP-code lookup and provider lineup before subscribing.
