Nextiva XBert is an AI receptionist and customer-service assistant that Nextiva says can handle inbound calls, SMS, and web chat, answer routine questions, qualify leads, book appointments, and route more complex requests to a person. Its listed price is $99 per month for 100 counted sessions, plus $0.99 for each additional session. Those are vendor-described capabilities and current published terms, not independently verified performance; businesses should test their own workflows and confirm billing and configuration details before relying on XBert with customers.
What is Nextiva XBert?
Nextiva describes XBert as an AI employee for customer-facing work. Its product materials say it can answer inbound calls, SMS, and web chat; respond to common questions using business information; capture and qualify leads; book or reschedule appointments; update records through integrations; and hand complex or sensitive conversations to a person with transcript context. These are Nextiva’s product claims, not independently demonstrated results. Nextiva’s XBert product page outlines the advertised functions.

Nextiva says XBert uses information supplied by a business or found on its website, including services, policies, frequently asked questions, hours, and workflows. That means the assistant’s usefulness depends in part on keeping that information accurate and setting clear rules for what it may do on its own and when it should escalate. An outdated policy or ambiguous instruction can undermine an otherwise capable workflow.

Nextiva’s published price is $99 per month for 100 included sessions, followed by $0.99 per additional session. The pricing page defines a session as a phone call lasting more than 30 seconds or an SMS or chat conversation with at least three AI interactions. It says hang-ups, wrong numbers, and trivial or partial interactions do not count. The product FAQ describes the treatment of short calls and single-message chats somewhat differently, so confirm the exact current billing rules before signing up. See XBert’s pricing page.

Nextiva also advertises a 14-day free trial with no credit card required, cancellation, no long-term contract, a 30-day money-back guarantee, and usage caps and alerts. These are offer terms stated on the vendor’s pages; verify the terms presented during signup.
To estimate whether the plan fits, model your expected monthly counted sessions rather than simply counting all calls or messages. Check whether calls and messaging draw from the same 100-session pool, how often conversations will cross the stated thresholds, and what overages would cost at your expected volume. Any phone service or integration costs depend on the setup; the reviewed pricing information does not establish additional fees for a particular deployment.

Can you use XBert without another Nextiva product?
Nextiva says XBert is available as a standalone product or as an add-on to a Nextiva plan. That does not by itself establish that every phone configuration or routing arrangement is supported. Confirm the phone setup you intend to use and the exact offer available to your account during signup. Nextiva’s product page states the availability claim.

Which integrations does XBert support?
The pricing FAQ lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Zendesk, ServiceNow, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly, QuickBooks, Clover, Shopify, Housecall Pro, Epic, and other integrations. Nextiva says the assistant can read current information such as availability, balances, and order history, make approved updates, and pass conversation context to staff. The integration page notes that custom API work may need to be scoped with support. Review XBert’s integration information.

- 2-line operation: Conference between an outside line and up to 2 cordless handsets, expandable up to 12 handsets
- Digital answering system with voice guide records up to 13 minutes
- 50 name and number caller ID history
- Intercom between handsets and base unit
- Trilingual prompts: Choose between English, Spanish and French
A logo or integration listing is not enough to establish that your exact workflow is supported. Before committing, confirm the specific connector, which records and fields XBert can read or write, what approvals are required, and whether staff receive the context they need when a conversation is handed off.
How long does setup take?
Nextiva’s pages offer different setup estimates: under five minutes for basic setup, around fifteen minutes when integrations are involved, and under an hour for most teams. These are vendor estimates rather than independent measurements. Setup time may depend on the quality of the business information you provide, the integrations you need, and how carefully you review the agent’s instructions and escalation rules. The product page, pricing page, and integration page describe setup in different contexts.

What should a business test before routing customers to XBert?
Nextiva describes configurable guardrails, human handoff, transcripts, and usage reporting. Check the actual configuration available to your account and test realistic calls and messages before allowing the assistant to handle live customer traffic. Useful checks include:
- What should XBert do when it cannot answer confidently or when the customer gives conflicting information?
- Which topics or actions must always go to a person, such as complaints, sensitive requests, or exceptions to policy?
- Can staff review recordings or transcripts, and does the handoff include enough context to avoid making the customer repeat themselves?
- Which CRM or business-system fields can XBert create or edit, and can those actions be limited to approved changes?
- How are usage caps and alerts set, and can the team see session use before overages accumulate?
- Can you test the intended phone, calendar, messaging, and CRM workflow end to end before using it with customers?
These checks matter because the product’s advertised breadth does not establish how it will perform with a particular company’s data, customer questions, or exception handling.

What security and compliance claims should buyers verify?
Nextiva’s product FAQ says XBert’s platform is SOC 2 Type II audited, ISO 27001 certified, and PCI DSS compliant. It says HIPAA eligibility depends on signing the required Business Associate Agreement; XBert pages also make HIPAA and GDPR posture and encryption claims. These are statements from the vendor, not an independent assessment here. Businesses handling regulated or sensitive information should confirm the scope, deployment configuration, contractual coverage, and any required agreement for their specific use before sending that data through XBert. Nextiva’s product FAQ and XBert’s FAQ describe these claims.
Who should consider XBert?
XBert may be worth evaluating for a business that wants an automated first response across phone, text, or web chat and has repeatable questions, appointment workflows, or lead-qualification steps. Its listed session pricing makes it especially important to estimate how many conversations will meet the billable-session definition and to understand overage exposure.
It is a less straightforward fit when customer requests are highly variable, policy exceptions are common, or the business cannot maintain reliable source information and clear human-escalation rules. The available product descriptions do not provide an independent benchmark for answer accuracy, containment, conversion, or customer satisfaction, so those outcomes should be tested against your own use cases rather than assumed from marketing claims.
