Withings now requires accounts created after October 13, 2026 to subscribe to Withings+ before exporting health data to Apple Health, Health Connect and other partner apps. In the United States, the annual price is $99.50, while accounts created before the cutoff keep free partner-app exports.
What changed on October 13, 2026
Withings says the Withings+ requirement went live at 00:00 UTC on October 13, 2026. The company is rolling out its AI Connector over approximately two weeks, so a newly created account may not see the same prompt immediately.

The rule appears at the export stage. In the Withings App, choosing “Export health data to” a partner exposes the subscription requirement for an account created after the cutoff. It is not a blanket charge for opening the app or viewing measurements.

Withings says existing accounts will not be changed retroactively. The deciding factor is the account’s creation date, not simply when a particular scale, watch or monitor was purchased.

“$99 per year” is therefore a rounded description of the listed US annual price. The subscription is not required for Withings’ basic data access, and the free period does not make partner export permanently free for a new account.
How Apple Health transfer works
Withings says iOS restrictions prevent automatic two-way syncing. To send the latest Withings readings to Apple Health, it documents a manual refresh sequence:

- Open the Withings App.
- Open Apple Health from the Withings App.
- Return to the Withings App.
- From the Home tab, swipe down from the top of the screen to force a refresh.
Withings says users need to repeat those actions whenever they want the most up-to-date data. This refresh burden is separate from the new subscription rule: a grandfathered account can continue exporting without paying, but it still follows the same iOS workflow.
The data flow is not fully symmetrical. Manually entered steps in Apple Health, along with steps imported into Apple Health from other activity trackers, are not imported back into Withings.

What remains free for every account
- Viewing Withings measurements directly in the Withings App.
- Downloading a copy of your data.
- Sharing a PDF report.
- Using partner-app export without a subscription when the account was created before October 13, 2026.
The paid feature is specifically the transfer of Withings data to third-party services such as Apple Health and Health Connect. A new user can continue using Withings hardware and retain direct records without subscribing, but cannot use the supported export connection until Withings+ is active.
Which partner connections are covered
Withings says its AI Connector now covers all of its partner apps except Strava. The company also says it does not create or support unofficial community connectors; the official AI Connector is the only connector it maintains.

That means a workaround found in a community forum may stop working or may not receive support from Withings. For a new account, the relevant question is whether the destination service is supported through the official connector, not whether an unofficial bridge exists.

People who need automatic access in Apple Health
If Apple Health is the central place where you review or share health records, the annual plan is the predictable cost for a new Withings account. The subscription is also relevant if you routinely send data to Health Connect or another supported partner.

People who only need occasional reports
If you mainly inspect readings in the Withings App or send a report to a clinician occasionally, the free download and PDF options may be sufficient. You can avoid the subscription as long as partner-app export is not part of your workflow.
Existing Withings users
An account created before October 13, 2026 remains grandfathered for free partner export. Subscribing is optional for those users, regardless of whether they own a scale, watch or another Withings product.
New device buyers
Withings’ catalog includes products such as Body Smart, BodyScan 2, Body Scan, Body Comp, ScanWatch 2 and BeamO. The account rule applies across the ecosystem rather than to one named model, so creating a new account after the cutoff can trigger the paywall regardless of which supported device you use.

Practical checks before creating an account
- Confirm whether you already have a Withings account; creating a second account after the cutoff can put the new account under the paid-export rule.
- Decide whether Apple Health or another partner needs ongoing Withings data, rather than only direct viewing or PDF reports.
- Check whether the device purchase includes one month of Withings+ when bought through the Withings Web Store.
- Expect the connector rollout to appear gradually during the approximately two-week deployment window.
- Budget $9.95 per month or $99.50 per year in the United States after the applicable trial or included period ends.
