T3 reported on 5 October 2026 that Amazon was selling the NETGEAR Nighthawk 5G M7 portable hotspot, model MH7150, for £396.99, down from £529.99—a reported 25% reduction. That is a dated deal, not confirmation that the price or stock is still available. The M7 is designed to turn a 5G or 4G cellular connection into Wi-Fi for your travel devices; whether it is a good fit depends on coverage, compatible networks and the cost of data where you are going.
What the Nighthawk M7 does
The MH7150 is a standalone cellular hotspot: it connects to a mobile network over 5G or 4G and shares that connection over Wi-Fi. That can be useful when you want several devices online without relying on hotel or café Wi-Fi, or when you would rather manage connectivity through one device than set up a hotspot on each phone.

NETGEAR advertises Wi-Fi 7 with a maximum rate of up to 3.6 Gbps and support for up to 32 connected devices. These are manufacturer specifications, not promises of the speed you will see while travelling. Actual internet performance depends on the mobile network, signal, plan and local conditions, as well as the connected devices.

Travel data and network compatibility
Data plans are part of the total cost
NETGEAR says its app offers eSIM data plans in more than 140 countries, and the MH7150 also supports compatible physical SIMs and third-party eSIMs (NETGEAR’s MH7150 product page; NETGEAR’s announcement). The country count describes the company’s stated marketplace footprint; it does not guarantee service in every location, compatible network bands, or a strong signal at your destination. Plan pricing and data allowances also affect whether the device makes financial sense for your trip.
Check the exact model for your destination
Before purchase, confirm that the listing is for MH7150 and check its compatibility with the carrier, SIM or eSIM service you intend to use in each destination. NETGEAR’s support specifications distinguish the M7 Pro (MR7400) and M7 Ultra (MR7500) from one another (NETGEAR’s M7 variant specifications). Their specifications should not be assumed to apply to the MH7150 simply because all three products use the M7 name.

Battery and security claims
NETGEAR specifies up to 10 hours of battery life for the MH7150. Treat that as a manufacturer-stated maximum, not a guaranteed duration for every trip or usage pattern. NETGEAR also lists a built-in firewall, WPA3 encryption and automatic firmware updates. These are useful security features, but they do not make every connection risk-free or guarantee protection on public networks.

Who should consider it?
- It may suit you if you regularly travel with several devices and want a dedicated hotspot, provided the MH7150 works with the networks and data options available at your destinations.
- Check the economics first if you will use it only occasionally: compare the device’s upfront cost and travel-data charges with the connectivity options already available to you.
- Pause before buying if you have not confirmed the model number, destination compatibility or data plan. The M7 label alone does not answer those questions.
