To watch Netflix in a small window while using another app, start a title and go to your Android Home screen or switch apps while playback is running. Netflix calls this picture-in-picture (PiP). On supported devices, the video appears in a movable, resizable window; Android does not provide a universal setting to pin it to a particular corner.
Start Netflix in picture-in-picture

Open the Netflix app and start playing a title.

While the video is playing, go to the Android Home screen or switch to another app. If your device supports PiP and Netflix is allowed to use it, the video should continue in a small window. Netflix’s PiP instructions describe this behavior.

Drag the window to move it, or resize it using your device’s PiP controls. The window includes controls for pausing, fast-forwarding, and rewinding. Tap the PiP control to return to full-screen playback, or tap close to stop playback and close Netflix.

Check Android and device support
Netflix lists Android 8.0 or later and the latest Netflix app as requirements. Those requirements do not guarantee PiP on every phone or tablet: device support varies. Netflix’s PiP guidance warns that some devices may not support the feature, and its Android phone and tablet guide describes PiP on Android 8 or later for some devices.

If you meet the Android version requirement but PiP still does not appear, check your device manufacturer’s documentation or support information to confirm whether your model supports it.
Allow Netflix to use picture-in-picture
If leaving Netflix during playback does not open the small window, check its Android permission:

Open Settings → Apps → Special app access → Picture-in-picture.

Select Netflix and turn on its picture-in-picture switch.

Return to Netflix, start playback, and go to Home or switch to another app again.
Android labels and menu arrangements can vary by device. If you cannot find the documented setting, consult your manufacturer’s manual or support rather than assuming every phone uses the same path.

Troubleshoot when the window does not appear

Check the Android version: Netflix’s stated requirement is Android 8.0 or later.

Confirm model support: A supported Android version alone does not ensure that a particular device offers PiP.

Check Netflix’s permission: Make sure the Picture-in-picture switch is enabled in Android’s special app access settings.

Restart the app: Force-stop Netflix, reopen it, and test playback again.

Update Netflix: Install the latest app update, then retry.

Restart the device: Restart the phone or tablet and test once more.
If PiP remains unavailable after these checks, contact Netflix support or your device manufacturer. Netflix’s PiP help page tells Android users to skip its plan check; the ad-supported-plan restriction it mentions applies to iPhone and iPad, not Android.
