Netflix’s limited games beta began rolling out to U.S. members on October 16, 2023, with two titles: Oxenfree and Molehew’s Mining Adventure. The test brought games to select TVs and computers, using a phone as the TV controller and a keyboard and mouse on PC or Mac. It was a limited technology test, not an announcement that a finished cloud-gaming service had launched for everyone.
When did Netflix start its games beta in the U.S.?
Netflix announced the limited beta on August 14, 2023, initially for a small number of members in Canada and the UK on select TVs. The announcement said PC and Mac access through Netflix.com on supported browsers would follow in the next few weeks. Netflix updated the announcement on October 16, 2023, to say the beta was beginning to roll out to the U.S. Netflix’s announcement and update did not describe a broad, simultaneous release to every U.S. member.

What two games were included?
- Oxenfree, from Night School Studio.
- Molehew’s Mining Adventure, described by Netflix as a gem-mining arcade game.
Those were the two games named for the initial beta. They should not be confused with Netflix’s overall games catalog: its current catalog page lists more than 120 exclusive mobile games and says they have no ads, extra fees, or in-app purchases. That catalog figure is not a count of games available on TV or in the 2023 beta. Netflix’s games catalog

How did members play the beta?
| Where you played | Control method Netflix described |
|---|---|
| Select TVs | A phone served as the controller. Netflix’s announcement did not specify a phone model. |
| PC or Mac at Netflix.com | Keyboard and mouse, through supported browsers. |
Netflix said the test was intended to evaluate its game-streaming technology and controller, and to improve the member experience over time. The announcement did not publish beta performance results, latency figures, or image-quality measurements.

Which TVs and streaming devices were supported?
Netflix’s August 2023 announcement named these initial TV partners:
- Amazon Fire TV Streaming Media Players
- Chromecast with Google TV
- LG TVs
- Nvidia Shield TV
- Roku devices and TVs
- Samsung Smart TVs
- Xfinity 4K devices
- Xumo devices and TVs
Netflix said it expected to add more devices over time. The announcement did not provide a model-by-model compatibility list or minimum specifications, so the partner categories are not a guarantee that every device in a category works now. It also did not say that members needed to buy a new TV or streaming device.

Is Netflix’s TV games beta still available?
Netflix’s June 11, 2026, announcement of a new FIFA World Cup game said games on TV were available in the United States and 19 other named countries. That is a later indication of TV-game availability, but it does not establish that the original two-game limited beta is still running, that the same two titles remain available on TV, or that every device listed in 2023 is currently compatible.
