There is no single, clearly identified product called a “Neon memory card.” The name most likely refers to the HIKSEMI NEO PLUS (model HS-TF-E1), a consumer microSD card, while Integral Memory’s Neon products are USB flash drives. Those are different formats for different devices. Before judging performance or buying, identify the exact product, confirm your host device accepts its format and capacity, and treat every speed number as a manufacturer maximum rather than a guaranteed transfer rate.

The available HIKSEMI product information describes NEO PLUS cards from 32 GB to 1 TB, with maximum read speed of 95 MB/s and capacity-dependent write speeds reaching 60 MB/s. It lists Class 10, UHS-I, TLC NAND and a seven-year warranty. The figures come from HIKSEMI’s product information as rendered in an available search result; the product page itself was not directly accessible, so verify the retail package and current listing before relying on any specification.

Why “Neon memory card” is an ambiguous search term

“Neon” and “NEO” appear in names for more than one storage category. The most important distinction is physical format. HIKSEMI NEO PLUS is described as a microSD card intended for devices with a microSD slot or a compatible full-size SD adapter. Integral Memory’s Neon-C is a USB flash drive with a USB-C connector. A USB drive cannot be inserted into a microSD slot, and a microSD card cannot replace a USB-C flash drive without an appropriate reader.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That distinction affects every buying decision: connector, supported file system, host-device limits, speed behavior, and the way the storage is installed. A listing that says “Neon” without a model number may be referring to the wrong product family. Look for the exact designation HIKSEMI NEO PLUS or model HS-TF-E1 if you need the microSD card described here. If the listing says Neon-C and shows a USB-C plug, it is a flash drive, not a memory card.

What the HIKSEMI NEO PLUS specification says

HIKSEMI’s available NEO PLUS information positions the card as a consumer microSD product for UHS-I hosts. The following are stated maximum or design specifications, not independent laboratory results.

Specification HIKSEMI NEO PLUS information What it means when choosing
Product type microSD card Requires a microSD slot or a compatible adapter and reader
Model HS-TF-E1 Use the model number to distinguish it from other NEO or Neon products
Capacities 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB Buy only a capacity your device explicitly supports
Interface and class UHS-I; Class 10 Suitable only where the host supports the corresponding microSD standard
Maximum sequential read Up to 95 MB/s A ceiling under specified conditions, not a guaranteed copy speed
Maximum write Up to 60 MB/s, varying by capacity Check the capacity-specific figure; write performance is often the limiting operation
NAND type TLC NAND A component description, not a promise of a particular workload endurance
Warranty Seven years Keep proof of purchase and check the regional warranty terms

HIKSEMI states that the performance figures are maximum manufacturer specifications and may vary with capacity, system configuration, firmware, workload and operating conditions. That qualification matters: a card can meet its advertised class and still deliver a lower result in a phone, camera, game console or inexpensive reader.

Check device compatibility before capacity or speed

The NEO PLUS result identifies compatibility with microSDHC and microSDXC UHS-I host devices. Your device’s manual remains the controlling source, because a slot that physically accepts a card may not support every capacity or file system.

Confirm the physical slot

  • microSD slot: Insert the card directly, following the device’s orientation marking.
  • Full-size SD slot: Use a properly fitted microSD-to-SD adapter. The adapter changes the physical size; it does not upgrade the card’s speed or capacity.
  • USB-only device: Use a card reader or choose a USB flash drive. A bare microSD card cannot connect directly to a USB-C port.

Confirm the SDHC or SDXC range

Cards above 32 GB are generally in the SDXC capacity range, while 32 GB cards are commonly SDHC. Manufacturers and device makers can impose additional limits, so do not assume that a camera supporting 128 GB will accept 512 GB or 1 TB. Check the device specification for both the maximum capacity and supported file system. Some older hosts recognize only FAT32-formatted media; larger cards may be supplied or reformatted as exFAT, which an older host may not read.

Confirm UHS support

UHS-I describes the bus interface. A UHS-I card can operate in a compatible UHS-I host, but a slower host may cap throughput. Conversely, placing a card in a device that advertises a faster interface does not make this UHS-I product perform like a newer UHS-II or UHS-III card. The host, card, reader, cable and operating system all contribute to the final result.

How to interpret the 95 MB/s read and 60 MB/s write claims

“Up to 95 MB/s read” and “up to 60 MB/s write” are peak manufacturer claims. They normally describe large, sequential transfers under favorable conditions, not the speed of every file operation. Small photos, application data, database records and game assets involve random access and can be much slower. A nearly full card can also behave differently from an empty one, and sustained writing may fall after a temporary cache is exhausted.

The stated write figure is capacity-dependent. Do not assume every NEO PLUS variant writes at 60 MB/s; verify the exact capacity’s packaging or listing. A host device may also impose a lower limit, especially when it uses a basic reader, an older controller or a shared bus.

What the claims are useful for

  • Reading photos and video: A higher sequential read ceiling can shorten transfers to a computer when the reader and files are suitable.
  • Recording: Sustained write behavior is more important than the headline read number. Check the camera or recorder’s required sustained rate and test with the exact capacity.
  • Apps and games: Compatibility and random-access behavior matter as much as sequential throughput. The Class 10 and UHS-I labels do not guarantee identical load times across devices.
  • Backups: Reliability, verified capacity and a safe ejection process matter more than a peak benchmark.

No dated independent benchmark for a Neon or NEO memory card was established. Do not present the NEO PLUS figures as laboratory-tested results, and do not transfer the 150 MB/s figure associated with Integral’s Neon-C USB drive to a microSD card.

Choose capacity by workload, not by the largest number

NEO PLUS capacities are listed from 32 GB through 1 TB. Usable space is lower than the decimal capacity printed on the package because the operating system reserves space for formatting and management. Video bitrate, photo resolution, game-install size and whether the card is used as removable or adopted storage determine how quickly it fills.

Stated capacity Typical decision question Verification needed
32 GB Is the device limited to SDHC or used for a modest set of documents and photos? Confirm the host accepts 32 GB and its required file system
64 GB Do you need more room while staying within common SDXC support? Confirm SDXC and exFAT support if required by the device
128 GB Will the card hold regular photo or moderate video sessions? Check the camera, phone or console’s maximum tested capacity
256 GB Do you want fewer card swaps for larger media libraries? Verify maximum capacity and sustained recording requirements
512 GB Will the host recognize high-capacity SDXC media reliably? Check the manufacturer’s compatibility list and update firmware if instructed
1 TB Does the device explicitly support a 1 TB microSD card? Do not buy until the host specification confirms 1 TB support

For irreplaceable photos or recordings, capacity should never be treated as a backup strategy. Keep a second copy on another device or service. A single removable card can be lost, corrupted or physically damaged regardless of its warranty.

Match the card to common devices

Action cameras and drones

Check the manufacturer’s minimum sustained write requirement, maximum capacity and approved file system. Recording high-bitrate video can expose differences between a peak specification and sustained performance. Format the card in the camera when the manual recommends it, and perform a full recording-and-playback test before an important trip.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Phones and tablets

Confirm that the slot supports removable microSD storage and whether the operating system permits the card to be adopted as internal storage. Adopted storage is encrypted and tied to the device in many systems; moving the card to another device may require reformatting and can erase its contents.

Handheld consoles and other game devices

Check the console’s documented maximum capacity and required formatting procedure. A card can be electrically compatible yet rejected because of unsupported capacity, partitioning or file-system rules. Download a small title first, then test a larger installation before moving an entire library.

Dash cameras and surveillance devices

These products write continuously and may be harsher than occasional photo use. Verify the recorder’s endurance guidance, loop-recording behavior and capacity limit. If the manufacturer specifies a particular speed class or card type, follow that requirement instead of relying only on “Class 10.”

A purchase checklist for an authentic, compatible card

  1. Identify the model: Confirm that the listing says HIKSEMI NEO PLUS and HS-TF-E1, not merely “Neon” or “NEO.”
  2. Identify the format: Confirm that the product is microSD, not a Neon-C USB drive.
  3. Match capacity: Compare the chosen capacity with the host device’s documented maximum.
  4. Check the interface: Look for UHS-I and Class 10 compatibility in the host specification.
  5. Read the capacity-specific speed: The maximum write speed can vary by capacity; do not generalize the 60 MB/s figure.
  6. Inspect seller and packaging: Compare the model, capacity and warranty information, and avoid listings that omit these details.
  7. Keep documentation: Save the receipt, packaging and warranty terms, especially if you expect to use the seven-year warranty.
  8. Test before critical use: Fill a portion of the card, copy files back, and verify that the files open correctly.

An exact current marketplace listing and live price were not established for this product. Treat an unusually low price, a generic product title or a capacity that the manufacturer does not list as a reason to pause and verify rather than as evidence of a bargain.

Set up and test a new NEO PLUS card safely

  1. Back up any files already on the card before formatting. A new card should normally be empty, but never assume that data is expendable.
  2. Insert the card with the device powered down when the manual advises it. Do not force the card or adapter.
  3. Use the host device’s own format command when available. This creates the partition and file system the device expects.
  4. Copy a representative mix of large and small files. For a camera, record at the highest intended quality; for a console, install and launch a test title.
  5. Safely eject the card, reconnect it and open the copied files. A successful write without a successful read-back check is not enough.
  6. Label the card with its capacity and the device assigned to it. Avoid swapping cards between systems that use adopted or proprietary storage modes.

On a computer, a trustworthy capacity-verification utility can write test data and read it back. Run such a test on an empty card, because it overwrites existing content. Results from a computer reader still describe that reader and connection; they do not guarantee identical performance in a camera or phone.

Troubleshoot common failures

The device says the card is unsupported

  • Check whether the device supports the card’s capacity and SDHC or SDXC category.
  • Reformat using the device’s recommended procedure, after backing up files.
  • Update device firmware only through the manufacturer’s documented method.
  • Try a known-good adapter or reader if the card works in one host but not another.

Recording stops or files are corrupted

  • Confirm the recorder’s sustained write requirement and maximum supported capacity.
  • Test a lower recording bitrate to separate a speed-limit problem from a defective card.
  • Replace a suspect adapter or reader; poor contacts can interrupt writes.
  • Stop recording before removing power or the card, and use the device’s eject command.

Transfers are slower than 95 MB/s

  • Check whether the reader and host actually support UHS-I high-speed operation.
  • Use a direct connection rather than a congested hub, and test a single large file.
  • Compare read and write directions separately; the advertised ceilings are not interchangeable.
  • Remember that small files, a nearly full card and thermal or workload conditions can reduce throughput.

The reported capacity is wrong

Stop using the card and verify it with a full read/write capacity test. A counterfeit or failing card can report a large capacity while overwriting data when the real memory is exhausted. Do not store important files on a card until it passes verification.

NEO PLUS versus Integral Neon-C: same name family, different product

Integral Memory’s Neon-C listing describes a USB flash drive with a USB-C connector, capacities from 32 GB to 1 TB and stated read speeds up to 150 MB/s. Those specifications apply to that USB drive, not to the HIKSEMI microSD card.

Attribute HIKSEMI NEO PLUS Integral Neon-C
Physical format microSD card USB flash drive
Connection microSD slot or compatible SD adapter USB-C connector
Listed capacities 32 GB to 1 TB 32 GB to 1 TB
Stated maximum read Up to 95 MB/s Up to 150 MB/s
Stated maximum write Up to 60 MB/s, varying by capacity Not stated in the available product information
Best fit Phones, cameras, handheld devices and other microSD hosts Devices with a compatible USB-C port

Choose between them based on the connector and host device, not the shared “Neon” wording or the higher headline number. A USB-C drive may be the right removable storage for a laptop or phone with USB host support, while a camera with a microSD slot requires a card.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Warranty, durability and data protection

The NEO PLUS information lists a seven-year warranty. A warranty usually covers the product under stated conditions; it does not restore lost files, guarantee a particular number of write cycles or cover every form of physical damage. Read the regional terms, retain proof of purchase and follow any return or replacement procedure.

TLC NAND identifies the flash-memory type used in the listed product. It does not by itself establish endurance for continuous surveillance recording, a specific number of terabytes written or long-term retention without power. For demanding workloads, use the card type and endurance guidance specified by the device manufacturer and maintain independent backups.

How to make the final decision

  1. If your device has a microSD slot and lists the NEO PLUS capacity you want: the HIKSEMI card is a plausible match, subject to verifying the current listing and package specifications.
  2. If your device has only USB-C: look for a USB flash drive such as the separately identified Neon-C category, or use a compatible card reader; do not order a bare microSD card expecting it to plug in directly.
  3. If you need guaranteed sustained recording: prioritize the host maker’s required speed and a tested card over the 95 MB/s read headline.
  4. If you need maximum space: select 512 GB or 1 TB only after the device documentation confirms support.
  5. If a listing lacks a model number, capacity-specific speed or warranty details: choose a listing with verifiable product identification instead.

The practical verdict is straightforward: HIKSEMI NEO PLUS can make sense as a UHS-I microSD option when its exact capacity and host compatibility are confirmed, but “Neon memory card” is too vague a name for a safe purchase. Separate the card from the USB Neon products, treat 95 MB/s read and up to 60 MB/s write as conditional manufacturer limits, and verify the actual listing before committing important data to it.
