Need for Speed: Carbon has not gained native DLSS 5 support on PlayStation 2. A report published by GameGPU on October 5, 2026 describes an enthusiast running the PS2 game in PCSX2 and applying an experimental neural-rendering treatment to the emulator’s output. That makes this an unofficial post-processing experiment—not a PS2 feature, an in-game modification, or an NVIDIA release.
What the reported demonstration involved
GameGPU says the game ran in PCSX2, which output video through Direct3D 11. ReShade and RenoDX Generic v6.5.3 then processed the completed frame at the emulator output stage. The report describes an early benchmark neural-rendering library operating in Multipass mode, with two passes at a working resolution of 2561×1425 pixels. These are details attributed to GameGPU; its article does not provide a complete configuration that readers can independently reproduce. GameGPU’s October 5, 2026 report

The report says night races and the garage were used to show the treatment. It claims that car paint, headlight reflections, and asphalt textures were reconstructed without changing the original image files, and that the process reduced low-resolution artifacts and added volumetric shading to 2D geometric elements. Those are the report’s visual observations, not independently measured results.
Does the PS2 version of Need for Speed: Carbon support DLSS 5?
No native support is established. The report describes a PS2 game running under emulation, with effects applied to the image after PCSX2 rendered it. It does not describe DLSS being added to the PS2 executable or running as a feature on PS2 hardware.

GameGPU also says official DLSS 5 availability was limited to GeForce RTX 50-series cards and NBA 2K27, while characterizing other uses as unofficial. The report does not cite a primary NVIDIA source for that compatibility claim, so it should not be treated here as a definitive statement of current availability.
What this means for PCSX2 users
The setup described is best understood as emulator-output post-processing: the emulator produces a frame, and external tools apply additional processing to that frame. It is different from a game-native feature, which would be integrated into the game’s own rendering path.

GameGPU’s account does not include a verified download source, complete settings list, reproducible installation guide, controlled performance results, or independent test. It therefore does not establish how to recreate the demonstration, whether it works reliably on other systems, or what performance cost it may have. The reported effects should not be taken as a guaranteed result on a reader’s hardware.

- Reported: Need for Speed: Carbon running in PCSX2 with Direct3D 11 output, followed by ReShade and RenoDX Generic processing.
- Claimed by GameGPU: visual changes to reflections, paint, asphalt, artifacts, and shading.
- Not established: native PS2 support, official NVIDIA integration, a reproducible setup, independent visual verification, or measured performance.
The only substantive account available for this demonstration is GameGPU’s secondary report. It is enough to distinguish the experiment from native DLSS support, but not enough to validate its visual or technical claims independently.
