The same report put Grayscale’s Artificial Intelligence Crypto Sector return at 54%, compared with 24% for the broader crypto market. Those are reported monthly returns—not evidence that AI adoption caused the gains or a guide to future performance.
How September’s reported returns compared
Stocktwits published the figures on October 3, 2026, attributing them to a Grayscale note it said was published the previous day. The sector’s reported 54% return was more than twice the broader market’s 24% gain. NEAR’s 183% figure is an individual-token gain, so it should not be treated as a like-for-like comparison with either market category.

These figures were reported by Stocktwits as numbers from Grayscale; they have not been independently confirmed here against Grayscale’s original note. The available report does not give enough methodological detail to reconstruct the returns, including the sector’s constituents or calculation windows.
NEAR was the top gainer among the four tokens named
Alongside NEAR, Stocktwits listed September gains of 70% for Venice (VVV), 47% for World (WLD), and 37% for Bittensor (TAO), also attributing the figures to the Grayscale note.

The list shows NEAR led the four assets named in the article; it does not establish that NEAR was the best-performing asset across all AI-linked crypto tokens or over any other period.
What Grayscale’s AI-agent thesis says—and does not say
Stocktwits attributed to Grayscale Head of Research Zach Pandl the view that public blockchains could provide “open infrastructure for agent payments, identity, private compute, and verifiable records.” The idea is that autonomous AI agents may need ways to transact, establish identity, access computing resources, and create records that can be checked.

Pandl also said, “we believe the AI sector could produce one or more major winners over the next five years.” That is an attributed forward-looking view, not a guarantee. The same article says Pandl sees AI development as concentrated among a handful of companies; the proposed blockchain uses do not demonstrate that decentralization has already resolved that concentration.

What the rally figures cannot establish
- They do not show that AI adoption caused the September price movements; the report does not establish the drivers.
- They are a one-month comparison, not current prices or returns for another period.
