When the letters were sent
- September 18, 2026: NCCIA headquarters reportedly wrote to the KP chief secretary and inspector general of police seeking 147 officers.
- October 2, 2026: The agency’s director of administration reportedly sent a second letter requesting 53 additional officers, including 20 DSPs.
Additional Director NCCIA Nisar Ahmad Khan was cited as saying the letters had been sent to the KP government and police and sought personnel from different regions of the province. The report says the agency was seeking people with expertise in cybercrime, investigation and related services. It does not provide the letters or formal selection criteria.

Why police experience may matter to NCCIA
The Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Act, 2025 gives NCCIA responsibility to inquire into, investigate and prosecute offences under the Act. It also treats agency officers as police officers of equivalent rank for inquiry and investigation, and directs NCCIA to develop its own forensic analysis capacity. Those provisions help explain why investigative experience and police ranks may be relevant to the request; they do not establish how any officers would be selected or assigned. The legal text is available in the Gazette publication of the 2025 amendment.

The News also reported that some NCCIA personnel were working on contract and had not been regularised, and that the agency was processing thousands of applications. These are the newspaper’s descriptions; the underlying records and the scale of the workload are not independently verified here.

The available account does not establish whether KP approved the request, whether deputation orders were issued, or which officers might be selected. It also does not state the terms or duration of any deputation, or how officers would be distributed among NCCIA teams and locations. NCCIA’s official website lists offices in Peshawar, Abbottabad and Dera Ismail Khan, but the staffing report does not say whether the requested officers would be assigned to those offices.
The agency’s careers notices are separate from this request for serving KP police personnel: NCCIA’s careers page displayed an open-careers notice with a September 24, 2026 deadline. That notice does not confirm deputations or a response from the KP government.
