The report places the remarks in a Bloomberg interview with Natalia Kniazhevich at the Greenwich Economic Forum, but does not provide a transcript or explain what Taleb meant by “trap.”
What did Taleb say about AI investors?
The MarketScreener item, credited to MT Newswires, summarizes Taleb as seeing a class of “naive” investors who would put money into firms linked to AI. It does not identify those investors or say whether he meant retail traders, institutional investors, or another group. The wording should not be read as a claim about retail investors generally.

The report names no AI company, stock, investor, valuation, or trade. It also does not supply a full direct quotation from Taleb, so the phrases “trap” and “naive” are the extent of the quoted characterization available in the report.
Why did Taleb call stocks a “trap”?
The accessible report does not explain the metaphor. It is unclear whether “trap” referred to stock-market participation broadly, a particular investing strategy, speculative AI-linked firms, or something else. Without the interview transcript or fuller remarks, assigning a specific meaning would be speculation.

The report therefore does not establish that Taleb predicted stocks or AI companies would fall, nor does it provide investment analysis or a trade recommendation. It records a characterization, not the reasoning behind it.
What is known about the interview?
According to MarketScreener’s October 6, 2026 report, the comments came in a Bloomberg interview with Natalia Kniazhevich at the Greenwich Economic Forum. The report does not state when the interview took place. It identifies Taleb as the author of The Black Swan and a distinguished scientist at Universa Investments.

A September 8, 2023 transcript of The Tim Ferriss Show offers separate, earlier context: Taleb discussed startup and venture investments in terms of cash generated or residual value, and described a proposed LLM startup investment as a “trap.” In that interview, he said, “When I was a student and everything, for me an investment was something that generates cash flow.” Those comments may illustrate how he used the word in that conversation, but they do not establish what he meant in the 2026 Bloomberg interview.
