NASA Science’s “10 Things: Movie Night” is a short viewing guide, not a film. Its ten picks range from Europa and Titan to Earth geology, sample return, and space education. NASA says its NASA+ documentaries are free, on demand, and require no subscription; the guide also points to videos from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the NASA Scientific Visualization Studio.
What is NASA’s “10 Things: Movie Night”?
Published by the NASA Science Editorial Team on October 1, 2026, and last updated October 2, 2026, the page invites viewers to make a movie night out of NASA documentaries and videos. It is a list and a set of viewing links—not a review, a scientific-results announcement, or a slate of ten newly released films. NASA Science does not give full synopses, runtimes, age ratings, or a recommended viewing order for the selections.

What are the ten selections?
Here are the titles in the order NASA lists them. The topics below reflect the titles and collection labels; they are not quality rankings.
- Other Worlds: Europa — an Other Worlds selection about Europa.
- Cosmic Dawn — identified on the page as a NASA+ original documentary.
- Planetary Defenders — identified on the page as a NASA+ original documentary.
- Our Alien Earth: The Lava Tubes of Mauna Loa, Hawai’i — an Our Alien Earth selection about lava tubes in Hawai’i.
- Our Alien Earth: Greece — the linked item carries the subtitle “The Undersea Volcanoes of Santorini, Greece.”
- Other Worlds: Titan — another Other Worlds selection.
- NASA Explorers: Sample Return — part of the NASA Explorers collection, with sample return in its title.
- NASA Explorers: Space School — part of the NASA Explorers collection, with space education in its title.
- Listen to the Universe — a NASA media selection.
- Space Out! — linked with the label “Space Out | Moon Phases | NASA+.”
NASA links the first two Other Worlds selections to NASA+ pages on YouTube. For exact descriptions and viewing details, follow the individual links on NASA’s list; the guide itself does not establish runtimes or age suitability.
#1 Best Overall
Is NASA+ free, and is a subscription required?
NASA describes NASA+ as its on-demand streaming service and says its documentaries are free, available on demand, and do not require a subscription. In the guide’s words: “It’s free. It’s on demand. And no subscription is required.” NASA also describes the catalog as including live launch coverage, documentaries, original series, and children’s content. Those are NASA’s stated access and catalog terms; the page does not specify country-by-country availability, device requirements, or how long any individual title will remain available.
Where else can you watch NASA space videos?
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory videos
The guide points to videos produced by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Visit the JPL videos collection for that laboratory’s video material.
Rank #2
NASA Scientific Visualization Studio
NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio presents NASA science and data through visualizations, animations, and images. It is another route to space-related visual material beyond the movie-night list.
How to choose a starting point
- For planetary destinations, start with the Europa or Titan entries.
- For Earth geology, choose one of the Mauna Loa lava-tube or Santorini undersea-volcano selections.
- For topics named in NASA’s collection labels, look at Cosmic Dawn, Planetary Defenders, NASA Explorers: Sample Return, or NASA Explorers: Space School.
- If you want a visual resource rather than a listed film or series, explore the Scientific Visualization Studio.
NASA’s invitation is simple: “Grab some popcorn and come along for the journey.” Popcorn is optional; the viewing links are the point.
