The three English-language Naruto paperback box sets form one complete numbered run: Set 1 collects volumes 1–27, Set 2 collects volumes 28–48, and Set 3 collects volumes 49–72. Buying all three gives you volumes 1 through 72; the decision after that is mainly whether you want boxed presentation and premiums, selected individual books, or VIZ’s official three-in-one omnibuses.
This guide maps every set, records the publisher’s stated contents and specifications, explains the individual-volume and 3-in-1 alternatives, and gives a checklist for buying new or used copies without confusing an omnibus or loose volume with a complete box set.

The complete Naruto box-set map
Use the volume range first, then confirm the ISBN. The ranges are consecutive, so the three sets together cover the 72 numbered Naruto volumes listed by VIZ.
| Box set | Volumes included | Publisher-listed extras | ISBN-13 | Release date | Pages and trim | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Naruto Box Set 1 | 1–27 | Premium items; sturdy corrugate display box | 978-1-4215-2582-2 | August 12, 2008 | 5,216 pages; 10 × 5.5 in | Teen |
| Naruto Box Set 2 | 28–48 | Mini-comic with the pilot story; full-color, double-sided poster | 978-1-4215-8080-7 | July 7, 2015 | 4,168 pages; 14.5 × 5.5 in | Teen |
| Naruto Box Set 3 | 49–72 | Exclusive premium; the product description does not identify the item | 978-1-4215-8334-1 | January 5, 2016 | 6,688 pages; 9 × 5.5 in | Teen |
VIZ describes the first package as the first story arc, the second as the beginning of Shippuden, and the third as the final set. Each listing identifies the contents as paperback books. The unusual page and trim figures above are the publisher’s specifications, not measurements of a particular used copy.

What each box set contains
Box Set 1
The first package is the largest early-story grouping, with 27 paperback volumes in a sturdy corrugate display box. VIZ lists “premium items” but does not name them in the product description. If a premium matters to your collection, ask the seller to identify it and show photographs rather than assuming every used copy still has it. The publisher lists 5,216 pages, a 10 × 5.5-inch trim, a Teen rating, and an August 12, 2008 release date. Verify the ISBN, 978-1-4215-2582-2, when matching listings.
Box Set 2
The middle package is the only one whose official description spells out its bonuses: a mini-comic containing the pilot story and a full-color, double-sided poster. VIZ’s wording says, “This set features volumes 28~48 at a substantial savings over buying them individually, along with an exclusive mini-comic containing the pilot story of the series and a full-color, double-sided poster.” That is publisher marketing language, not an independently verified current price comparison. The listing specifies 4,168 pages, a 14.5 × 5.5-inch trim, a Teen rating, a July 7, 2015 release date, and ISBN 978-1-4215-8080-7.
Box Set 3
The final package contains the concluding numbered run and an exclusive premium. VIZ does not identify that premium in the description, so a listing that promises a particular item should be checked against photos or the seller’s written inventory. The product page gives 6,688 pages, a 9 × 5.5-inch trim, a Teen rating, a January 5, 2016 release date, and ISBN 978-1-4215-8334-1.

Do the three sets complete the English Naruto manga?
Yes, for the numbered Naruto manga volumes represented by these VIZ listings: the first set starts at volume 1, the second follows immediately after it, and the third ends at volume 72. There is no gap between the ranges shown in the table. If you are replacing a damaged book or filling a partial shelf, buy only the set whose row contains the missing numbers; buying a second complete set creates substantial duplication.
“Complete” here means the 72 numbered Naruto volumes in this box-set sequence. It does not claim that every Naruto-related publication, guidebook, novel, art book, special chapter, or later series is packed into the boxes. Those are separate products and should not be counted as missing volumes from this run.
How the complete set adds up
Set 1 contributes 27 books, Set 2 contributes 21, and Set 3 contributes 24. The arithmetic is 27 + 21 + 24 = 72, which is why the ranges meet cleanly at volumes 27/28 and 48/49. The publisher’s listed page counts total 16,072 pages across the three packages (5,216 + 4,168 + 6,688). Those totals describe the products as catalogued by VIZ; they are useful for comparing the listings, but they should not be treated as a promise that every used copy has identical pagination or condition.
The set sizes are not identical. Set 2 has the fewest numbered volumes, while Set 1 and Set 3 contain 27 and 24 respectively. Do not judge completeness by the apparent thickness of a package or by the number of books visible in a seller photograph. Count the numbered spines or request an inventory, then compare the range with the table.

Individual paperback and digital volumes
Individual editions make sense when you need one replacement, want to collect only selected story sections, or already own most of a range. VIZ lists single Naruto volumes in paperback and digital formats. For a concrete reference, the publisher’s Volume 1 page identifies ISBN 978-1-56931-900-0, 192 pages, an August 16, 2003 release, and a Teen rating: VIZ Naruto, Vol. 1.

Use the individual-volume ISBN, not a box-set ISBN, when ordering a replacement. Marketplace titles can use similar cover art for a single book, a 3-in-1 edition, or an entire set; the ISBN and the seller’s quantity description resolve that ambiguity faster than a thumbnail.
Single volumes also let you match an existing shelf more precisely. Check whether the listing is paperback or digital, confirm the language and volume number, and compare the publication details when a uniform appearance matters. A digital listing cannot replace a missing physical paperback in a display collection, even though both may represent the same numbered story volume.
How VIZ’s 3-in-1 editions differ
VIZ Shop’s Naruto catalogue also lists official 3-in-1 paperback editions. These combine three numbered volumes in one physical book, reducing the number of separate books without changing the underlying story order. The catalogue identifies 3-in-1 Volume 2 as containing volumes 4, 5, and 6, and 3-in-1 Volume 24 as containing volumes 70, 71, and 72: VIZ Naruto manga catalogue.
| Format | What you receive | Best fit | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Box set | A contiguous run of numbered paperbacks plus a display box and, depending on the set, premiums | Collectors who want grouped runs, coordinated packaging, and the publisher-listed bonuses | Set number, ISBN, box condition, and whether every premium is present |
| Individual volume | One numbered paperback or a digital edition | Replacements, selective collecting, or finishing a nearly complete shelf | Exact volume number, format, language, and ISBN |
| 3-in-1 omnibus | Three numbered volumes bound together; examples include 4–6 and 70–72 | Readers who prefer fewer physical books and do not need box-set presentation | Which three volumes the specific omnibus contains and whether its format suits your shelf |
The catalogue establishes availability of these formats, but it does not establish that 3-in-1 books are cheaper over every range or more durable than separate paperbacks. Make that decision from the exact edition, current price, and handling needs you can verify.
An omnibus number is its own edition identifier, not a substitute for a single-volume number. For example, “3-in-1 Volume 24” means the bound grouping that contains volumes 70, 71, and 72 in the catalogue example. If your checklist says you are missing volume 71, search for the contents range as well as the omnibus number so you do not order an unrelated edition.
Observed catalogue prices and what they do—and do not—tell you
On October 13, 2026, VIZ displayed the following catalogue/list prices. They are time-stamped observations, not guaranteed marketplace offers; stock, retailer discounts, shipping, and regional pricing can change.
| Product | Displayed price on October 13, 2026 | Simple price per included numbered volume | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Box Set 1 | $289.99 | About $10.74 (289.99 ÷ 27) | VIZ catalogue figure; not a live-market guarantee |
| Box Set 2 | $224.99 | About $10.71 (224.99 ÷ 21) | VIZ catalogue figure; not a live-market guarantee |
| Box Set 3 | $254.99 | About $10.62 (254.99 ÷ 24) | VIZ catalogue figure; not a live-market guarantee |
| 3-in-1 editions | $16.99 displayed for listed editions | About $5.66 when divided by three | Arithmetic based on the displayed catalogue price; editions and availability can vary |
At those displayed box-set figures, buying all three would total $769.97 before tax and shipping. Dividing that observation by 72 numbered volumes gives roughly $10.69 per volume. This is a calculation from the listed catalogue prices, not a guarantee that a retailer will sell the complete run at that total or that every box will be in stock together.
The 3-in-1 figure is not a complete-run quote. VIZ displayed $16.99 for listed editions, which works out to about $5.66 per represented volume when three volumes are included, but the catalogue page does not establish that every omnibus in the 1–72 sequence is available at that price on the same day. Compare only the exact editions and quantities you can actually order.

A collector’s buying checklist
- Inventory what you already own. Write down the highest and lowest numbered volumes on your shelf and note any missing or damaged books. This prevents buying a complete range when you need only one replacement.
- Match the missing run to the table. Choose the box-set row that contains every missing number. If your gaps cross a boundary, calculate whether two partial purchases or individual books are more sensible than duplicating an entire set.
- Confirm the ISBN. Use 978-1-4215-2582-2 for Set 1, 978-1-4215-8080-7 for Set 2, and 978-1-4215-8334-1 for Set 3. A different ISBN may identify an individual volume, an omnibus, a regional edition, or unrelated Naruto merchandise.
- Read the quantity and format line. Make sure the listing says box set when you expect a box, and distinguish paperback from digital. A product title that says “complete” can still mean complete for one seller-defined subset.
- Verify premiums and packaging. Set 2 should include the named mini-comic and poster if those bonuses are important to you. For Sets 1 and 3, the official descriptions do not identify every premium, so request photographs or a written inventory. Ask whether the corrugate display box is intact, crushed, split, or absent.
- Inspect condition details. Request clear images of the box corners, book spines, page edges, and any included paper goods. Look for water exposure, odor, warped covers, writing, stickers, and page separation. Decide in advance which defects you will accept.
- Check seller policies. Confirm returns, packing method, and whether the seller will replace a missing volume or damaged premium. A sealed claim is useful only if the seller defines what “complete” means.
- Recheck the total cost. Add shipping and tax to the displayed item price. Compare the complete delivered cost with the cost of the exact individual volumes or 3-in-1 books you still need, not with an advertised price from a different edition.
- Document the purchase. Save the listing, ISBN, photographs, and receipt. This makes a later condition or missing-item claim much easier.
Choosing a format by collection goal
You want one coordinated display
Buy the three box sets only when you want the packaging and are comfortable storing three large containers. Confirm that all three boxes fit your shelving depth and that the seller is shipping them with enough protection to avoid crushed corners. The sets are paperback collections; the display box is packaging, not a substitute for inspecting each book.
You already own most of the series
Use individual volumes to fill isolated gaps. This minimizes duplicate copies and lets you match the edition already on your shelf. Before ordering, compare cover, ISBN, and publication details so a replacement does not introduce an unexpected format.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
You want fewer books on the shelf
Choose 3-in-1 editions where their stated contents align with the volumes you need. They are an official physical alternative, but they will not provide the box-set premiums or display boxes. Check each omnibus’s included volume numbers rather than assuming that an omnibus number equals a single-volume number.
You are buying a gift
Ask whether the recipient values bonuses and presentation or simply wants to read the story. A complete box set is straightforward only if you know the recipient wants all 72 numbered volumes and has room for the packaging. For an uncertain collection, a specific volume or a confirmed 3-in-1 range avoids unnecessary duplication.
Used-copy and shipping pitfalls
Missing premiums
Publisher pages do not provide a complete itemized premium list for Sets 1 and 3. A used listing may therefore contain every paperback but still be incomplete for a collector who expects every bonus. Treat “box included” and “all extras included” as different claims and get the distinction in writing.
Damaged display boxes
Corrugate corners can crush even when the books are readable. Ask how the seller will immobilize the box inside the carton and whether they will accept a return for transit damage. For a display-focused collection, box condition should be part of the purchase decision, not an afterthought.

Relying on stale prices
List prices and marketplace offers move independently. The October 13, 2026 figures above are useful reference points, but they do not guarantee inventory or a particular seller’s price on your purchase date. Reopen the product page, verify stock, and calculate the delivered total.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Storage and cataloguing after purchase
Keep each set’s books together while you check the numbered sequence. Record the ISBN and the condition of the box and premiums in a spreadsheet or collection app, and photograph the contents when the parcel arrives. Store paperbacks upright with support rather than tightly compressing them, keep paper goods flat, and avoid damp or direct-sun exposure. These handling practices protect your investment without implying that one format has been independently proven more durable than another.
If you combine formats, label the shelf clearly—for example, “box set,” “individual,” or “3-in-1”—and list the numbered volumes represented by each omnibus. That record prevents accidental repurchases and makes it obvious which single book is missing if a volume is lent or misplaced.

What should I do if a used set is missing a poster or premium?
Contact the seller using the saved listing and photographs, then follow the stated return or resolution policy. Before buying, ask in writing which premiums and the display box are included.
Do the sets include every Naruto publication?
No. The three-set sequence covers the 72 numbered Naruto manga volumes. Guidebooks, novels, art books, special chapters, and later series are separate products.
Bottom-line buying strategy
For a complete English Naruto numbered run, the cleanest route is one of each VIZ box set: the table’s three contiguous ranges add up to volumes 1–72. Choose individual paperbacks when you need precision replacements, or choose the official 3-in-1 editions when compact storage matters more than box-set presentation. In every case, verify the ISBN, exact volume coverage, extras, condition, and current delivered price before ordering.
