What Alice Nation is
Alice Nation combines story-led exploration with card-based interaction, resource management, crafting, investigation and turn-based encounters. Alice wakes in a dreamlike realm called The Beyond, a world represented as a tabletop-like surface made from cards. You explore that surface, interact with characters and objects, collect materials, synthesize items, follow quests, scan signals, investigate cases, solve puzzles and confront enemies.

The design is built around multiple ways forward rather than a single prescribed route. Choices can alter the path through The Beyond, so progress depends on what you investigate, which resources you spend and how you respond to the people you meet. Steam categorizes the game as Adventure, Indie, Simulation and Strategy, with additional tags including Card Game, Story Rich, Interactive Fiction, Turn-Based Tactics, Tabletop, Card Battler, Choices Matter, Puzzle, Investigation, Hand-drawn, 2D, Cute, LGBTQ+ and Psychological Horror.

Alice and The Beyond
Alice is quiet, solitary and composed on the surface, but insecure underneath. Trapped in the card-built otherworld, she is trying to find a route back to reality. The setting’s physical rules are part of the mystery: exploration, conversations and problem-solving all happen across the same card surface instead of through a conventional open-world map.

The companions
- Mery: a dramatic storyteller who brings a theatrical voice to Alice’s journey.
- March Hare: a carefree bunny whose condition is affected by the corruption spreading through the world.
- Noah: a researcher carrying cryptic notes and information he may not be ready to reveal.
- The unidentified girl: Steam’s description also teases a mysterious girl with a lily in her hair.
These characters are presented as part of the investigation as well as the narrative. Conversations, clues and quests can help explain what happened to The Beyond and why Alice is there.
How the card system works
The cards are the game’s main interface for both story and strategy. Instead of separating exploration, inventory and encounters into unrelated screens, Alice Nation places them on a shared tabletop-like field.
Explore and interact
Cards represent locations, objects, signals and people. Moving through the arrangement lets Alice discover new interactions and hidden information. A route may open after you inspect a clue, complete a quest or obtain the right resource.

Collect and synthesize
Resources gathered during exploration can be combined into items. Crafting is therefore part of progression and investigation: the useful question is not only what a card does now, but what it can become when combined with other materials.
Investigate and solve cases
Scanning signals, examining evidence and connecting clues are explicit parts of the game loop. Puzzles and cases add a detective layer to the card play, while choices determine which leads and routes remain available.
Play cards with characters and face enemies
Some interactions involve playing cards with non-player characters. Other situations become encounters with enemies, using the game’s turn-based tactical and card-battler elements. The store description emphasizes decisions and alternative solutions rather than one universal strategy.

Is Alice Nation like Inscryption or Voice of Cards?
The developer’s Steam page points to Inscryption, Voice of Cards, Cultist Simulator, Stacklands and Hand of Fate as reference points for players who may enjoy the concept. That is positioning guidance, not an independent claim that the games have identical mechanics or quality.

Players looking for a pure deck-building challenge should note that the available description frames cards as one part of a broader adventure system. The strongest fit is for someone who wants a story-first game in which crafting, clues, choices and tactical card interactions support the mystery.

Alice Nation launched at $7.99 on Steam. The official October 16, 2026 launch update says a limited-time 10% discount is active; the promotion may end or change, so the current Steam checkout price is the final authority.

The minimum specification is modest. Steam lists Windows 10, an Intel Core2 Duo processor, 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB of available storage. No minimum graphics card is specified in the listing.

Meeting these figures only establishes that a system matches the published minimum. Performance can still vary with drivers, background applications and hardware configurations, particularly because no graphics baseline is provided.

What is known about reception
Alice Nation is a new release, and Steam showed no user reviews when checked. There are therefore no reliable sales figures, player-count records or independent review averages to use as a quality verdict yet. The confirmed facts are its Steam availability, feature set, price and minimum requirements.
Who should consider it?
- Players who prefer narrative adventures with investigation and branching choices.
- Fans of card-based interfaces that extend beyond combat into exploration and crafting.
- People who enjoy hand-drawn 2D presentation, unusual tabletop worlds and a mix of cute and unsettling themes.
- PC owners with older or low-spec hardware that meets the published Windows, processor, memory and storage requirements.
It may be a weaker fit if you want a conventional action RPG, a large real-time world or a combat-only deck builder. Alice Nation’s advertised identity is a story-first card adventure in which solving cases and choosing a route matter as much as winning encounters.
