Mynt, the company behind GCash, announced a proposed IPO offer price of ₱6.60 per share on October 2, 2026—₱3.40, or 34%, below the Philippine Stock Exchange’s earlier maximum offer price of ₱10. The ₱10 figure was a ceiling, not a previously finalized price, so the change is not a cut from a confirmed offer price. Mynt said the shares were expected to list on October 20 under the ticker GCASH, subject to approvals and other considerations.
What the ₱6.60 price means
The issuer is Mynt, Inc., not the GCash app itself. GCash is the consumer-facing service associated with the company, while Mynt is the company named in the IPO announcements.

On September 18, 2026, the PSE announced that it had approved Mynt’s IPO application and described an initial maximum offer price of ₱10 per share. Mynt’s October 2 announcement, following bookbuilding, gave a proposed final offer price of ₱6.60. The difference is ₱3.40 per share, calculated as 34% below that earlier maximum. These are figures from different stages of the offering, not two finalized prices.

The lower proposed price is consistent with the headline’s description of reduced IPO ambitions, but the available company and exchange announcements do not establish that weak market conditions alone caused the pricing decision. A June 2026 Business Times report discussed the thin Philippine market and possible liquidity concerns; a 2024 Globe disclosure said timing depended on favorable market conditions. That background is not proof of the reason for Mynt’s October price.

The proposed firm shares were equivalent to 12.0% of post-IPO capital and included both primary and secondary shares. The offering remained subject to regulatory and exchange requirements, market conditions, its structure, governance approvals and consents. |
| September 18, 2026 — PSE | The PSE said it had approved the application. Its offer description listed 8.03 billion primary and secondary common shares: up to 1.61 billion primary shares and 6.42 billion secondary shares, plus an overallotment option of up to 1.20 billion additional secondary shares. It gave ₱10 per share as the initial maximum offer price, October 6–12 as the offer period, and October 20 as the tentative listing date. |

The June authorization and September PSE offer description are different stages of the process. The 12.0% figure describes the firm shares proposed at the authorization stage; the later PSE notice supplies the share counts for its offer description. Final allocation and use of proceeds should be checked in the official offer documents.
Primary and secondary shares are not the same
- Primary shares are newly issued shares; proceeds from their sale go to the issuer, subject to the final offer terms.
- Secondary shares are existing shares sold by current holders; the selling holders, rather than the issuer, receive the proceeds from those sales.
- Overallotment option in the PSE notice refers to up to 1.20 billion additional secondary shares. The notice’s stated maximum does not by itself establish how many, if any, will ultimately be sold.
These distinctions matter because the headline share count combines shares with different sellers and destinations for proceeds. The PSE’s September notice described the offer structure; investors should consult the final prospectus for definitive allocation and proceeds details.

The offer price alone cannot answer that. It is neither a forecast of the share’s post-listing performance nor a measure of whether the investment suits an individual investor. The announced pricing and schedule do not establish future returns, and the cited announcements do not support a personal buy-or-avoid recommendation. A decision requires reviewing the final prospectus, the company’s disclosures and risks, the offer terms, and your own circumstances.
