myFirst announced the Insta magiCam and Insta magiBox on October 14, 2026. The magiBox is the comic-focused device: a child speaks an idea, its service generates either an illustration or a connected four-panel story, and the result prints in about 10 seconds on adhesive thermal paper. The related magiCam starts with photographs, letting children discover and creatively rework what they capture.

The launch announcement does not establish that magiCam creates connected comics. The four-scene comic workflow is specifically described for magiBox.
How magiBox turns a voice idea into a comic
Voice-to-Image
A child describes an idea aloud, and magiBox generates an illustration. This mode offers six visual styles: Anime, Cartoon, Pencil Art, Line Art, Ink Splash and Doodle. The child can then print the image, color it with the included markers and use the sticker output in a larger project.

Voice-to-Story
In story mode, the child narrates a story rather than naming a single subject. magiBox produces a connected four-panel comic and prints it on the thermal sticker roll. The published material describes one style for Voice-to-Story, rather than the six-style choice listed for Voice-to-Image.
The device has a 2.8-inch HD screen and one-button operation. Once an image is ready, myFirst says printing takes approximately 10 seconds. That figure covers the print step after generation; it does not promise that the online generation itself always finishes within 10 seconds.

magiBox uses ink-free thermal printing, so there are no ink cartridges. The launch package is described as including:

The sticker-roll format makes the output different from a conventional paper comic printer: children can peel and place panels on notebooks, craft projects or other smooth surfaces. Rolls are consumables, so continued printing will require replacement media. The announcement does not state roll capacity or replacement pricing.

No independent testing was located for battery life, generation speed, print durability or image quality, so these figures should be treated as published specifications rather than verified performance results.
Does magiBox need a phone or internet?
magiBox needs an internet connection to generate images and stories. A phone is needed for setup, but myFirst says an account or ongoing phone connection is not required for the child to use the device after setup. Without internet access, the cloud-dependent generation function will not work; the published information does not describe an offline story or image mode.

Safety and data handling
myFirst says content is filtered before generation for violence, self-harm, suicide, pornography and hate speech. It also says voice recordings are deleted immediately, prompts are encrypted in transit, prompts are not used to train external AI models, and users can delete saved AI images. These are vendor statements, not findings from an independent privacy or security audit. Parents who need offline processing, independently verified retention limits or school-managed controls should treat those requirements as unresolved until myFirst publishes more technical documentation.

The October 14, 2026 announcement warns that pricing, availability, features, connectivity and services may differ by market. The magiBox explainer lists Blossom Pink and Aqua Blue and describes the product as “coming soon.” No universal release date or verified live retailer listing was established. The launch statement frames the products as tools for independent creativity; founder and CEO G-Jay Yong said the company wanted technology to enrich children’s curiosity while leaving room for them to explore and grow on their own.

Which device fits a child’s activity?
- Choose the magiBox concept when the goal is turning spoken imagination into printable illustrations or a structured four-panel story.
- Choose the magiCam concept when the child is motivated by taking pictures and transforming real-world subjects.
- Plan for connectivity for either AI generation workflow, with magiBox explicitly requiring internet access.
- Plan for consumables if children will print frequently, because sticker rolls are used for the output.
