Open the specific score you want. Check its displayed status, license or usage terms, and whether the page offers a download control. The catalog filter helps locate candidates, but the individual score page is where to confirm what is currently available.

If the page offers only viewing or playback, or asks for payment or credits to download, do not try to work around the restriction. Choose another score that explicitly offers a free download, or use the authorized purchase option shown on the page.

When a free download is offered, use MuseScore’s own download control. Avoid automated downloaders, scripts, and copy-protection workarounds.
Why a score may be viewable but not free to download
MuseScore.com includes community scores as well as Official Scores, a category licensed from print music publishers. The site’s Terms of Use say some score downloads may be restricted, and its pricing page notes that downloading or printing an Official Score can involve an extra charge. A subscription does not guarantee that every Official Score can be downloaded without an additional charge; check the terms and controls on the exact score page.

When comparing results, consider the score’s download status, whether it is an Official Score or a community score, its displayed license, the arrangement and instrument, available file format, and any payment or credit requirement. Do not infer download rights from a title, thumbnail, preview, or playback option.
Know the use limits before downloading
MuseScore.com’s Terms of Use state: “You may only use downloads and printing from MuseScore for personal, non-commercial, use.” The terms also prohibit redistributing downloaded or printed content, using automated systems other than those provided by MuseScore, and circumventing copy-protection technologies. Follow the terms and the individual score’s displayed license; do not redistribute a downloaded sheet.
A composition and a particular score or arrangement can involve different rights. A score page’s visible status is not a universal statement about every possible use. For copyright and download details, consult the platform’s Terms of Use and upload guidelines, as well as the terms displayed for that score.

Export a score file you already have
Downloading a score from the site and exporting a file in MuseScore Studio are separate actions. If you already have a score file you are entitled to use, Studio’s export options can save it in formats such as PDF, MIDI, and MusicXML. Exporting does not grant permission to download a restricted score from MuseScore.com.
