The 900R has a panoramic glass presentation, centered layout, and a detachable, rotatable motherboard tray. MSI describes vertical airflow and lists three pre-installed 160 mm ARGB fans. Its product page also says a PCIe Gen 5 riser cable is included for vertical GPU installation. MSI calls the case suitable for “dual 420 mm radiators” and extensive fan installations; treat that as a vendor description of intended configurations, not an independent cooling result.
Its front I/O is a standout on paper: nine USB ports across Type-A and Type-C, including a Type-C port with up to 60 W power delivery when the motherboard supports it. Verify that your board has the required headers and support rather than assuming every port or PD capability will work with every motherboard.

Lian Li O11 DYNAMIC EVO XL: reversible dual-chamber layout
The O11 DYNAMIC EVO XL uses front and side tempered glass with a removable pillar and a dual-chamber layout. Lian Li lists Normal and Reverse modes and movable I/O, giving builders flexibility in how the case is oriented and presented. Its published maximum GPU length is 460 mm, 20 mm more than MSI’s listed limit, and it lists three radiator positions supporting up to 420 mm radiators.
Lian Li identifies vertical and upright GPU display options as optional accessories. Its product page says a vertical mount of up to four slots is supported with the relevant optional kit; do not assume a bracket or riser is included with the base case.

Will your GPU, cooler, and radiators fit?
Start with the exact component dimensions, not only the case’s headline maximum. Lian Li lists 20 mm more GPU length, while MSI lists 3 mm more CPU cooler height. Those limits do not account for every constraint created by card width, power-cable bend, radiator thickness, tubing, fan placement, or case orientation.
- Measure the GPU. Compare the card’s full length and thickness with the chosen case layout. Include room for its power connector and cable bend, and check whether a front or side radiator changes usable clearance.
- Check the CPU cooler. Compare the cooler’s height with the published limit: 170 mm for MSI or 167 mm for Lian Li. Leave room for any parts of the cooler that extend beyond its nominal height.
- Map radiator positions. MSI lists two 420 mm positions (top and bottom) plus a side position up to 360 mm. Lian Li lists three positions that can each support up to 420 mm. Confirm thickness, fans, tubing route, motherboard-tray height, and the rest of the build together; the maximum sizes are not a guarantee that all fit simultaneously.
- Confirm motherboard size and slot use. MSI specifies E-ATX up to 280 × 305 mm; Lian Li specifies E-ATX under 280 mm. Check the board’s actual width and how your GPU and any other expansion cards use the available slots.
- Check PSU and storage together. MSI lists a 200 mm maximum PSU length; Lian Li lists ATX units under 220 mm. Allow for power connections and cable routing, and verify that the intended cooling layout leaves the drive cage or mounts you need accessible.
- Verify front-panel connectivity. Check your motherboard’s internal USB headers and support for the specific ports, especially MSI’s stated 60 W Type-C PD feature.
Which case makes more sense for your priorities?
Choose the MSI MEG MAESTRO 900R if
- You want the listed three pre-installed 160 mm ARGB fans and MSI’s described included PCIe Gen 5 riser.
- You value a rotatable, detachable motherboard tray and a panoramic, centered showcase layout.
- You need more listed front USB ports or higher stated drive-mount capacity, and your motherboard supports the required connections.
- Your selected CPU cooler needs the extra 3 mm of stated height clearance compared with Lian Li’s limit.
Choose the Lian Li O11 DYNAMIC EVO XL if
- Your GPU exceeds MSI’s 440 mm stated limit but is within Lian Li’s 460 mm limit, subject to checking other clearances.
- You want three listed 420 mm radiator positions for a planned custom loop or cooling layout, after verifying simultaneous fit.
- You want Normal or Reverse layout options and a dual-chamber display design.
- You prefer to choose a vertical or upright GPU accessory separately rather than treating one as part of the base-case specification.
Space, handling, and price can decide the comparison
The MSI is substantially larger by its published outer dimensions and has a listed net weight of 33 kg. Measure the intended location, including room for airflow, access to ports, and the route through doorways or stairs. The Lian Li is smaller by its listed dimensions, though the retrieved product specifications do not state its weight.
