PC users can import their own music and share creations; the editor is planned for every version of the full game, although the release date has not been announced.
What the new Music Level Editor does
Wired Productions and Glee-Cheese Studio announced the demo update on 15 October 2026, ahead of Steam Next Fest. Instead of only playing developer-authored stages, players can use the editor to construct their own rhythm levels and test them immediately.

The editor is organized around a music timeline. Notes, obstacles and effects can be placed at specific points in a track, allowing movement and hazards to line up with the beat. After arranging a section, the creator can play it straight away, making it possible to hear and adjust timing without leaving the editing workflow.
Playable elements and presentation controls
- Place notes, obstacles and effects directly on the timeline.
- Synchronize movement and events to the song’s rhythm.
- Customize available assets, colors and animations.
- Change backgrounds to give a stage its own visual identity.
- Preview the finished level immediately after editing.
This makes the update more than a cosmetic sandbox: the timing, route and challenge of a stage are authored by the player, while the visual settings determine how that choreography is presented.

Can you use your own music?
Yes, but the announced personal-music feature is specific to PC. On PC, players can use their own music as the basis for an edited level and share the resulting creations with other players. The announcement does not specify supported audio formats, file-size limits, moderation rules or whether custom tracks can be used on consoles.
That distinction matters when comparing platforms. The editor itself is planned for all full-game versions, but the documented ability to import personal music and share player-made levels applies to the PC version. Players should therefore avoid assuming that a console copy will offer the same file-import workflow.

How MR. RECORDS combines shop management and rhythm stages
MR. RECORDS follows George, an older dreamer who finally opens the record shop he has always wanted. During the day, players run the store, meet customers and help them find records. At night, each record becomes a rhythm adventure inside George’s imagination.

The structure gives the editor a clear context: custom stages are not detached music tools, but an extension of a game that treats records as gateways into imagined performances. Alongside the player-created content, the publisher describes more than 40 handcrafted levels, providing a substantial authored campaign for players who would rather play than design.

Demo availability and Steam details
The first public demo launched on Steam on 22 September 2026. SteamDB lists MR. RECORDS Demo as a free Windows demo with App ID 4869950. The free demo is the currently documented way to try the game before launch; no full-game price has been announced in the available announcements.
SteamDB recorded 151 in-demo reviews and an 88.98% positive sentiment at the time of its crawl. That is a time-sensitive third-party snapshot, not a permanent score: review totals and percentages can change as more players submit feedback.

Which platforms will receive the editor?
The publisher’s platform statement says: “The Level Editor will be available in all versions of the full game when MR. RECORDS launches on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.” This establishes planned editor support across the announced platforms, rather than limiting the feature to the Steam version.

The wording concerns the full game. It does not promise that every console will receive the editor in a separate pre-release demo, nor does it define whether cross-platform sharing will be available.

When does the full game release?
A full-game release date has not been confirmed in the primary announcements available for this update. The announced launch platforms are PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, but no day, month or pricing details accompany that platform statement.
Until a date is published, the free Steam demo is the only confirmed public version. Treat store listings, videos or third-party dates as unconfirmed unless Wired Productions or Glee-Cheese Studio announces them directly.
Why this update matters for rhythm-game players
Most rhythm games separate playing from authoring: one mode delivers fixed songs and another, if present, provides a basic chart editor. MR. RECORDS’ update places timeline-based creation at the center of its demo identity. Players can determine where notes, hazards and effects occur, tune the visuals around those choices and then distribute their work to other players on PC.

Players interested in a conventional campaign can sample the shop-to-rhythm structure and the publisher’s handcrafted stages. Creators can instead treat the demo as an experiment in arranging music, testing beat-synchronized movement and developing a personal visual style. The long-term value of the editor will depend on details not yet announced, including file support, discovery tools and how shared levels are handled.
