Movavi Video Editor 24.6.1 is a genuine 2024 release, but it is not the current version: Movavi’s product page displayed version 26.20 on August 18, 2026. The release notes also differ by source: Movavi’s archive describes minor improvements and bug fixes, while Apple’s Mac App Store history lists several feature changes for its 24.6.1 build. Movavi offers a free download or trial, but export restrictions may apply, including watermarks or duration limits.

What is Movavi Video Editor 24.6.1?

Movavi Video Editor is a consumer-oriented timeline editor for tasks such as trimming and joining clips, cropping, adjusting color or speed, and adding titles, transitions, effects, overlays, and music. It is aimed at accessible editing for projects such as vlogs, family videos, and social posts rather than serving as a full professional post-production suite. Movavi’s current product page describes that general positioning, but its present feature set should not be assumed to match the older 24.6.1 release. Movavi Video Editor

Version 24.6.1 is a historical release, not a separate product. Apple’s listing confirms a Mac App Store build. Movavi’s current page offers Mac and Windows editions, but the available evidence does not establish that every 24.6.1 feature or release note applied identically on Windows.

Is 24.6.1 legitimate, and when was it released?

Yes. Movavi lists version 24.6.1 in its official version archive, and Apple lists it in the Mac App Store version history. Those records show different dates and descriptions:

Source Date shown What it says about 24.6.1
Movavi’s general “What’s New” archive July 9, 2024 Minor improvements and bug fixes.
U.S. Mac App Store listing September 24, 2024 Feature notes including timeline snapping, media-library changes, preview indicators, and faster project opening.

The records may reflect different platform builds or distribution milestones; they do not establish that one date definitively replaces the other. Movavi’s archive also lists 24.6.0 immediately before 24.6.1, describing Music and Sounds reorganization and a Recent effects category. Apple assigns some of those features to its 24.6.1 entry. Treat the exact feature-to-build mapping as platform- and source-dependent. Movavi version archive · Apple’s Mac App Store listing

For safety, download the current edition from Movavi or use the Mac App Store. If you specifically need 24.6.1 for an older project, license, or compatibility reason, ask Movavi Support or check the account associated with your original purchase rather than relying on an old executable from a third-party download site. What changed in the Mac App Store build?

Apple’s listing attributes the following changes to its 24.6.1 entry:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Timeline snapping: items can align automatically on the timeline.
  • Music and Sounds browsing: Music is organized by genre and mood, and Sounds is grouped by theme. Apple’s notes say more than 600 sounds are easier to browse through categories.
  • Recent effects: a category collects recently used transitions, titles, effects, and other elements.
  • Preview indicators: the first and last video frames are indicated in the preview.
  • Project opening: Apple’s developer release notes claim projects open 20% faster. This is a vendor-reported claim, not an independently verified benchmark.

Movavi’s general archive gives 24.6.1 a much shorter description—minor improvements and bug fixes—so these feature details should be read specifically as the Mac App Store’s account of its build, not as a confirmed Windows changelog.

Is Movavi Video Editor free?

Movavi offers a free download or trial, but that does not guarantee unrestricted exports. Depending on the build, operating system, and licensing state, trial restrictions may include a watermark, a 60-second video limit, a one- or two-minute audio limit, or limits on advanced export features. Check the terms shown by your installed build and make a short test export before investing time in a large project. Movavi’s product page

Do not assume that current marketing counts for effects or music describe version 24.6.1: Movavi’s current page advertises more than 10,000 creative effects, about 1,500 music tracks, and a seven-day free-access period for effects on its current offer, but those figures and terms are not established for the 24.x release. The current offer’s displayed $19.95 including VAT also lacks enough context to treat it as a universal or guaranteed price.

The U.S. Mac App Store listing showed monthly and yearly subscription options, including plans with Effects, but prices vary by purchase channel, region, tax, and offer and can change. Check the live listing before buying. If you are unsure whether you have a subscription or lifetime license, or need help with activation, charges, refunds, or license recovery, Movavi’s support center has dedicated help topics. Compatibility and system requirements

The Mac App Store listing includes 24.6.1 in its history and states macOS 12.0 or later for the listed app. Its current listing also says it supports Intel and Apple silicon Macs; that statement belongs to the listing as it stands now and does not, by itself, confirm the exact hardware requirements for the 24.6.1 build.

Movavi’s current product page lists these Mac requirements for the product it currently displays: macOS 12.0 or later, a 64-bit Intel processor or Apple M1 or newer, 4 GB RAM, a 1280 × 800 display, 400 MB free for installation, 600 MB for ongoing operations, and administrator permissions for installation. These are current product-page requirements, not confirmed requirements for 24.6.1. Check the requirements for the exact build and operating system before installing an older edition. How to check which version you have

  1. Open Movavi Video Editor.
  2. Open the Help menu and select About.

  4. Compare that number with Movavi’s version archive or the Mac App Store history, as appropriate. Menu wording can vary by operating system or localization.

Is 24.6.1 still current?

No. Movavi’s product page displayed Video Editor version 26.20, updated July 20, 2026, when checked on August 18, 2026. That is the current version shown on the page, not a guarantee that every platform or distribution channel rolls out the same build at the same time. Version 24.6.1 is an older 2024 release; the available sources do not establish current bug-fix, security, compatibility, or support parity for it. Movavi Video Editor

Should you keep 24.6.1, upgrade, or switch?

For most people installing an editor now, start by checking the current version and its requirements. Staying on 24.6.1 can make sense when a validated older workflow, license, or project depends on it. Consider moving to a newer release if your operating system has changed, the old build crashes, or you need support for newer devices, codecs, or features. An upgrade can alter effects, fonts, media links, or rendering behavior, so preserve the original project before testing it.

Before upgrading an existing project

  • Back up the project file and its source media.
  • Export a finished master of important work from the old version.
  • Record the fonts, effects, transitions, and plug-ins the project uses.
  • Keep your license details and confirm how to recover the installer through your account or Movavi Support.
  • Open a duplicate of the project in the newer version first; do not convert your only copy.

When another editor may fit better

  • DaVinci Resolve is worth considering for deeper color, audio, and post-production tools; its workflow can be more demanding than Movavi’s.
  • Adobe Premiere suits users who need an Adobe-centered professional workflow and accept its subscription model and steeper learning curve.
  • Final Cut Pro is a Mac-only option for editors who want a tool closely integrated with Apple platforms.
  • CapCut is oriented toward short-form and social video; assess its account, privacy, cloud, and export requirements before choosing it.

Movavi Video Suite is a separate, broader product, not another name for Video Editor. Compare its own features and terms if you want more than a timeline editor. Movavi Video Suite
