Motorola has the lower stated U.S. price; Samsung lists the thinner, lighter phone and a newer-named processor. Those differences can help narrow the choice, but they do not prove which foldable lasts longer, takes better photos, or performs better in everyday use. The available specifications support a preference-based decision—not a tested overall winner.
Price and U.S. availability
Motorola announced a $1,099.99 U.S. MSRP for the Motorola Razr+ (2026). Its announcement said preorders would begin May 14, 2026, through Best Buy, Amazon.com, and Motorola.com, with universal unlocked sales beginning May 21. Motorola’s U.S. launch announcement establishes those announced dates and channels, not present-day stock or checkout prices.

Samsung’s U.S. product page displayed a $1,199.99 starting price for the Galaxy Z Flip8 when checked. Treat that as a page price, not a guaranteed live offer. At those stated figures, the Razr+ is $100 less; storage configurations, discounts, and current availability can change the amount you actually pay. Check the same storage tier for both phones before deciding on value. Samsung’s U.S. product page

Cover screens and battery: what the numbers tell you
Motorola lists a 4.0-inch external display and a 4500mAh battery for the Razr+. Samsung lists a 4.1-inch closed display and a 4300mAh battery for the Z Flip8. The diagonals are close, and Motorola lists the larger battery capacity, but neither measurement establishes which cover screen is more useful or which phone lasts longer. Screen behavior, software, workload, and other factors matter; the cited specifications are not runtime testing.

Motorola says the Razr+ battery provides “over 31 hours of battery life.” That is Motorola’s own product claim, not an independently measured head-to-head result. Samsung lists 6.9 inches for the Z Flip8’s open display. Motorola specifications · Samsung specifications
Weight, thickness, charging, and durability
Samsung lists the Z Flip8 at 180g and 6.1mm thick when unfolded. Its page calls it “The world’s lightest, thinnest flip,” which is Samsung’s marketing claim rather than an independently verified ranking. Comparable weight and unfolded-thickness figures for the Razr+ are not established here, so those Samsung numbers alone do not prove which phone is easier to carry.

Motorola lists 45W TurboPower charging and an IP48 rating for the Razr+. Those specifications describe the manufacturer’s stated charging support and ingress-protection rating; they do not establish a durability advantage over Samsung. The evidence here does not support a direct water, dust, drop-resistance, or repairability comparison. Motorola specifications · Samsung specifications

Motorola lists a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor for the Razr+ (2026); Samsung lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy for the Z Flip8. The names identify the listed chipsets, but without comparable performance testing they do not establish the size of any real-world speed difference.

Samsung lists a 50MP wide camera. That specification does not determine photo quality, and the evidence available here does not establish a comparable camera-test result for both phones. There is no supported camera winner or overall performance verdict. Motorola specifications · Samsung specifications

- Consider the Razr+ if price is your main deciding factor. Motorola announced a lower U.S. MSRP than Samsung’s displayed starting price, and its listed specifications include a 4500mAh battery, 45W charging, and IP48.
- Consider the Z Flip8 if its listed dimensions and chipset are your priorities. Samsung specifies 180g, 6.1mm unfolded thickness, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. The listed dimensions do not make it a proven pocketability winner without matching measurements for the Razr+.
- Wait for comparable hands-on evidence if camera quality, battery life, durability, or speed is decisive. Manufacturer specifications and claims do not settle those head-to-head questions.
Before ordering, compare live prices for matching storage configurations and confirm current availability and software-support terms directly with each manufacturer. Support duration is not established by the specifications cited here.
