Which display is better for your use?
Razr Ultra: larger and faster inner screen
The Razr Ultra’s 7-inch inner display is larger than the Flip7’s 6.9-inch panel, and its reported refresh rate reaches 165Hz versus up to 120Hz on the Samsung. That makes Motorola the more appealing spec-sheet choice if you prioritize a spacious inner screen and high refresh rate.
#1 Best Overall
- Universal unlocked: Compatible with all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and other prepaid carriers.
Galaxy Z Flip7: slightly larger cover screen
Samsung’s 4.1-inch cover display is slightly larger than the Razr Ultra’s 4-inch cover display. Samsung says FlexCam lets users frame and take hands-free photos using the cover screen; that is a manufacturer-described feature, not an independent assessment of image quality. Which is easier to carry?
In the cited specifications, the Z Flip7 is lighter and thinner when folded: 188g and 13.7mm, compared with the Razr Ultra at 199g and 15.7mm. Samsung lists the Flip7 at 6.5mm unfolded as well. If pocketability matters more than the Razr’s larger inner display, the Samsung has the advantage on these measurements.

Camera hardware does not settle camera quality
The Razr Ultra’s three 50MP cameras and more advanced video modes make for the more extensive hardware list on paper. Samsung lists a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide. But the available comparative coverage says matched real-world camera testing was incomplete, so megapixel counts and feature lists cannot establish which phone takes better photos or video.

Software support and ownership
Samsung has a clear documented support advantage in the available evidence: Android Authority reported in 2026 that the Z Flip7 is covered by Samsung’s commitment to up to seven years of OS and security updates. A comparable current Motorola update-duration commitment was not established in the sources reviewed, so this is not proof that Motorola offers fewer years; check Motorola’s current policy if you are considering the Razr Ultra for long-term use.

Samsung’s launch announcement also describes Care+ repair coverage, but current terms, eligibility, prices and exclusions vary and are not established here. Do not treat the announcement as a quote for coverage in your region.
Battery life and durability: what the specifications cannot tell you
Samsung lists a 4,300mAh battery. The reviewed material does not provide matched standardized runtime tests for both phones, so that capacity alone does not settle which lasts longer in everyday use.

Android Central reports IP48 resistance for both phones, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the Motorola cover and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Samsung cover and back. Those details should be checked against the current regional specifications for the exact model you are buying; they should not be assumed to apply identically in every market. Motorola also highlights a titanium-reinforced hinge and recycled plastic content in a component, along with recyclable plastic-free packaging and an EU Class A Energy Efficiency rating. These are manufacturer claims, not independent durability or sustainability findings. Motorola announcement

Choose the Galaxy Z Flip7 if value and long support matter most
- You want the lower U.S. launch starting price and a 256GB storage option.
- You prefer the lighter, slimmer folded design in the cited specifications.
- You value Samsung’s documented commitment to up to seven years of OS and security updates.
Choose the Razr Ultra if you want the hardware-forward option
- You prioritize a 7-inch inner display and a refresh rate listed up to 165Hz.
- You want the broader camera hardware and video-mode specification, while recognizing it does not prove better real-world results.
- You are willing to pay more for the Motorola’s specifications and finishes.
The overall recommendation is conditional rather than universal: Samsung is the more defensible pick for most buyers on launch price and documented update support, while Motorola is compelling for shoppers who specifically want its larger, faster inner display and hardware package.
