Choose the Razr Fold if screen area is your priority
The Razr Fold’s 8.1-inch inner display is larger by diagonal measurement than the Fold8’s 7.6-inch panel, and its 6.6-inch cover screen is also larger than Samsung’s 5.5-inch cover. Those numbers make Motorola the stronger on-paper fit if you want more display area when unfolded and a more expansive screen while the phone is closed. Diagonal size does not settle which screen shape you will prefer: the Fold8’s 4:3 layout may suit some reading and browsing tasks better.

Samsung emphasizes the Fold8’s 4:3 unfolded format and its 3:4 orientation when rotated. That geometry is worth considering if you read or browse in portrait orientation on the inner display. Motorola publishes the larger diagonal, but the available cited specifications do not establish that its shape will suit every app or task better. If possible, compare both devices with the content you use most.

Consider battery and charging separately
Motorola lists a 6,000 mAh battery and 80 W wired and 50 W wireless charging. Samsung lists a 4,800 mAh battery and claims over 26 hours of video playback. Capacity, charging wattage and a vendor-stated playback figure describe different things; they do not establish which phone lasts longer in ordinary use. No matched real-world endurance comparison is established here.
The Fold8 has the clearer weight advantage on paper
Samsung gives the Fold8’s weight as 201 g. The Motorola launch and support sources cited here do not provide a verified Razr Fold weight, so a direct weight comparison—and a claim that one is lighter—cannot be made from these figures.

Check stylus support and what is in the box
Motorola documents moto pen ultra support, including pressure sensitivity, palm rejection and annotation use. Its launch announcement says the pen is sold separately, while its UK support specification lists it in the box. That conflict makes the exact country and retailer bundle important. The Samsung source cited here does not settle Fold8 stylus compatibility, so it is not enough to conclude that Samsung’s phone lacks stylus support.

Verify software support for the exact regional model
Motorola’s published support information is inconsistent: the launch announcement advertises up to seven OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates subject to market and model caveats, while the UK support page specifies security updates through March 2030 and a four-year period. Ask the seller or consult the support page for the precise model sold in your country before treating the longer term as guaranteed. What the published specifications do not prove
Camera quality is not a megapixel contest
Motorola describes a triple rear-camera system with a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom and a 50 MP ultrawide camera. Its announcement also reports a DXOMARK Gold Label and a North America ranking, attributing those claims to a March 2026 report. These are Motorola-reported claims; the sources cited here do not provide a matched current Fold8 camera test or a basis for declaring a camera winner. Motorola’s drop claim is not a Fold8 comparison
Motorola says the Razr Fold achieved “over 75% better drop performance” in its internal testing against previous-generation devices. The company’s footnote describes a comparison of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 with first-generation Gorilla Glass Ceramic and says actual performance may vary. Local price may change the value calculation
The cited Motorola announcement gives a European starting MSRP, while Samsung’s cited European launch notice gives a sales start date but no current street price. Those facts are not a like-for-like local price comparison. Compare the same storage tier, current price, warranty and included accessories in your market before deciding which is better value.
