The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 is the lower-priced choice on the cited US prices, while Motorola’s top Razr has larger, faster-refreshing displays and higher published battery and charging ratings. The names differ by market: Motorola calls its US model the Razr Ultra 2026 and uses Razr 70 Ultra internationally. These specifications help narrow the choice, but they do not establish which phone lasts longer or takes better photos in everyday use.

Motorola’s specifications are from its Razr 70 Ultra support page. Samsung’s figures are from its US Galaxy Z Flip8 product page. The RAM, storage, Razr weight, and Samsung charging ratings come from Android Central’s comparison, which said its direct comparison was still in progress. Those secondary figures are useful context, not the result of a completed controlled test.

Why the Motorola model has two names
Motorola’s 2026 US announcement calls its top clamshell the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026. The company calls the international version the motorola razr 70 ultra. Its announcement says international availability will roll out across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific; local availability and prices depend on the market. Check the name and exact configuration sold where you live rather than assuming the US listing applies worldwide. Motorola’s April 29, 2026 announcement describes the rollout and US launch details.

Using the manufacturer prices cited in 2026, Samsung’s US starting price is $1,199.99 before trade-in, while Motorola’s US MSRP for the Razr Ultra 2026 is $1,499.99. That makes the nominal difference about $300 in Samsung’s favor. The Samsung figure is a starting price and the Motorola figure is an MSRP; neither guarantees the price at checkout. Promotions, trade-ins, storage configuration, and retailer availability can change what you pay. Prices outside the US are not established by these figures.

- Universal unlocked: Compatible with all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and other prepaid carriers.
Motorola’s announcement says US preorders for its Razr Ultra 2026 would begin May 14, 2026 through Best Buy, Amazon.com, and Motorola.com, with unlocked sales starting May 21 at the stated MSRP. Check the Motorola announcement for those launch terms and confirm current stock and pricing directly before buying. Samsung’s cited price is shown on its US product page.
Displays: Razr lists a higher refresh rate; Samsung has a slightly larger cover screen
Motorola lists an approximately 6.96-inch, 165Hz main display with 1224 × 2992 resolution and a 4-inch, 165Hz cover display. Samsung lists a 6.9-inch open display and a 4.1-inch closed display. Those figures make the Razr’s main screen slightly larger on paper and identify its stated refresh rate; Samsung’s cover display is slightly larger by diagonal. Samsung’s cited product-page details do not state a refresh rate for either display, so a direct refresh-rate comparison is not available here.

Performance and storage: published configurations favor the Razr on memory
Motorola lists a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for the Razr 70 Ultra. Android Central reports 16GB RAM and 512GB storage for the Razr Ultra 2026, versus 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB storage for the Galaxy Z Flip8. These configuration details come from a secondary comparison rather than the cited manufacturer spec pages, and availability may vary by market.

The figures indicate more listed RAM in the reported Razr configuration, but they do not show how the phones perform under the same workloads. For a purchase, confirm the storage option and memory configuration on the local model listing; do not assume every regional version has the same specifications.
Battery and charging: higher ratings for Motorola, not proof of longer runtime
Motorola lists a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, 68W wired charging, and 30W wireless charging. Samsung lists a 4,300mAh battery and claims up to 31 hours of video playback. Android Central reports 25W wired and 15W wireless charging for Samsung. These are manufacturer-published capacities and charging ratings or, for Samsung’s charging figures, secondary comparison data. The “up to” video playback number is Samsung’s claim, not a guaranteed result for every user.

Battery capacity and charging wattage do not settle day-to-day endurance or charging time. Actual results depend on factors such as usage, settings, network conditions, and charging equipment; the cited sources do not provide a controlled head-to-head battery test.
Weight and cameras: compare the published details, not assumed real-world results
Samsung lists the Galaxy Z Flip8 at 180g. Android Central reports the Razr Ultra 2026 at 199g, making the Razr the heavier phone in those published figures. The Razr weight is from the secondary comparison, not an official Motorola specification in the cited material.

Motorola lists two rear 50MP cameras: a wide camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an ultra-wide camera with a 122-degree field of view. Samsung’s US product page lists a 50MP wide camera. Megapixel counts and camera descriptions do not establish image quality. The sources cited here do not establish which phone takes better photos or video in independent testing.
Software support: Motorola states a commitment; practical performance remains untested here
Motorola’s support specifications list Android 16 and a commitment of up to three years of OS upgrades and up to five years of security upgrades for the Razr 70 Ultra. Those are manufacturer commitments, not evidence of update speed or reliability. The cited Samsung page details do not establish a comparable Galaxy Z Flip8 support commitment, so this comparison cannot make a like-for-like claim about support duration.
Likewise, specifications alone cannot tell you which cover-screen software experience fits your routine or how updates perform in practice. Check the current support terms for the exact regional model before purchase.
Which foldable should you choose?
Consider the Galaxy Z Flip8 if
- You are shopping in the US and the cited starting price makes the initial purchase cost the priority.
- You prefer the lighter phone in the published figures: Samsung lists 180g, compared with Android Central’s 199g Razr figure.
- You want a slightly larger cover display by the listed diagonal measurement: 4.1 inches versus the Razr’s 4 inches.
Consider the Razr 70 Ultra / Razr Ultra 2026 if
- You value the larger listed main-display diagonal and a stated 165Hz refresh rate on both the main and cover screens.
- You prioritize higher published battery capacity and charging ratings, while recognizing these do not prove longer real-world battery life.
- You want the listed dual 50MP rear-camera setup, including an ultra-wide camera, and will verify the exact local model and configuration.
Neither choice is a proven overall winner from these specifications. Camera quality, hinge longevity, actual battery runtime, cover-screen app behavior, and update performance require evidence beyond the cited product details.
