The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is the hardware-upgrade model: it has a faster listed processor, larger and faster-refreshing displays, higher-resolution camera hardware and faster charging. The standard Razr 60 costs less in Motorola’s Japan store, but its observed sale price makes the Ultra ¥99,999 more expensive. Whether those upgrades justify the gap depends on your priorities—and prices and availability vary by market.

What does the Ultra upgrade?
Processing and memory
The Ultra moves from the Razr 60’s MediaTek Dimensity 7400X to a Snapdragon 8 Elite and increases listed RAM from 12GB to 16GB. Both Japan listings specify 512GB of internal storage. These specifications make the Ultra the stronger option on paper, but they do not establish a particular real-world speed advantage for an individual workload: no independent benchmark results are available here.

Displays
The Ultra’s inner screen is 7.0 inches, with a 2992 × 1224 resolution and refresh rate up to 165Hz; the standard model lists 6.9 inches, 2640 × 1080 and up to 120Hz. The cover screen is also larger and faster on the Ultra: 4.0 inches and up to 165Hz, compared with 3.6 inches and up to 90Hz on the Razr 60. If you use the folded phone’s outer screen often or prioritize the highest listed refresh rates, these are the clearest screen differences.

Both phones list a 50MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization. The Ultra pairs it with a 50MP ultrawide-plus-macro camera and a 50MP front camera; the Razr 60 lists a 13MP ultrawide-plus-macro camera and a 32MP front camera. This is a difference in resolution and listed hardware, not proof that the Ultra takes better photos or video. Camera quality requires image testing, which these specifications do not provide.

These are capacity and rated charging-speed differences; they do not tell you how long either phone lasts in use or how quickly it charges under real conditions.
Weight and protection
The listed Ultra weight is about 199g, versus about 188g for the Razr 60. Both Japan pages specify IP48 protection. Motorola’s generation announcement also describes a titanium-reinforced hinge and IP48 protection as manufacturer claims; those statements are not independent durability-test results. Which model should you choose?
Choose the Razr 60 if
- Keeping the purchase price down is your main priority, and its current local price makes the savings meaningful.
- You are comfortable with the listed 6.9-inch, 120Hz main display and 3.6-inch, 90Hz cover display.
- The listed 50MP main and 13MP ultrawide-plus-macro cameras meet your needs, without assuming resolution alone predicts photo quality.
Consider the Razr 60 Ultra if
- You value its larger cover display and higher listed refresh rates on both screens.
- You want the higher-tier listed processor and 16GB of RAM.
- The 50MP ultrawide-plus-macro and front cameras, or the higher rated wired and wireless charging speeds, matter enough to justify the price difference in your market.
These are decisions based on listed specifications, not claims that one phone has been proven faster, lasts longer or takes better pictures. Compare the actual prices available to you rather than applying the Japan-store difference to another country.

Quick Recap
Check before ordering
- Confirm the exact model and regional SKU. Motorola’s US announcement calls the phones razr and razr ultra, while the Japan pages use razr 60 and razr 60 ultra. Do not assume prices, network bands or regional variants are interchangeable.
- Verify network compatibility. Check the exact model’s supported bands against your carrier before purchase.
- Review warranty and stock. Confirm local warranty coverage and whether the model is in stock; the Japan Ultra listing warns that manufacturer stock is limited and an order may not be confirmed.
- Check what is in the box. The Japan Razr 60 listing says an AC adapter and USB cable are not included. Confirm the contents of the listing for your region and seller.
- Check software on the unit being sold. The Japan pages list Android 15 and note that production batches may have newer software.
