The Motorola Edge 70 Max is the better fit if you want a larger, sharper screen, a bigger battery, Qi2 wireless charging and Wi-Fi 7. The Edge 70 Pro is substantially lighter in the listed finishes and has a different camera setup, including a 50MP ultrawide and 50MP front camera on Motorola’s UK specification page. Neither is a universal winner: the specifications and prices below come from different regional sources, so check the exact local model and current price before buying.
Motorola Edge 70 Pro vs Edge 70 Max: key specifications
This comparison uses Motorola’s UK support-page specifications for the Edge 70 Pro and EMEA support-page specifications for the Edge 70 Max. Motorola says specifications can vary by market, so these figures should not be treated as a guarantee for every country’s version.

The UK Edge 70 Pro page lists a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme, while the EMEA Edge 70 Max page lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Those chip names alone do not establish which phone is faster in comparable real-world use. No independent, like-for-like benchmark evidence is available here, so choose based on the overall features and verified local configuration rather than an assumed performance ranking.

Display: the Max has more resolution; both list up to 144Hz
The Max has a 6.82-inch 1440 × 3168 panel, while the Pro has a 6.8-inch 2772 × 1272 panel. Both manufacturer pages list refresh rates up to 144Hz. Motorola lists peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits for the Max and up to 5,200 nits for the Pro; these are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of brightness in every mode or condition.
The Max is the more compelling listed option if screen resolution is a priority. The size difference is small on paper, but its extra weight and width may matter more when holding it one-handed.
Battery and charging: Max adds capacity and Qi2
Motorola lists a 7,100mAh battery for the Max and a 6,500mAh typical-capacity battery for the Pro. Both support 90W wired charging and 5W wired reverse charging according to the cited pages. The Max additionally lists 25W magnetic Qi2 wireless charging.

Motorola quotes up to 78 hours of music streaming for the Pro and up to 88 hours for the Max under the manufacturers’ stated conditions. These are estimates with differing test methodologies, not results from an independent head-to-head battery test, and should not be read as expected everyday runtime.
Cameras: check the exact Pro variant
On Motorola’s UK support page, the Pro is listed with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide with a 122-degree field of view, and a 50MP front camera. The Max’s EMEA page lists a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 32MP front camera. The listed configurations therefore favor different camera priorities on paper; megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality.
Motorola’s Pro announcement also describes a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5× optical zoom. Because the regional specification page presents the camera array differently, treat that telephoto detail as variant-specific and verify it against the local model’s official specifications before purchasing.

Build, weight and connectivity
The Pro is listed at 183g in silk finish or 190g in acetate, with a plastic frame and a thickness between 6.99mm and 7.29mm depending on finish. The Max is listed at 221g, 8.29mm thick, and uses an aircraft-grade aluminum frame. Both pages list IP68/IP69 ratings and MIL-STD 810H protection.
For wireless standards, Motorola lists Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 for the Pro, compared with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 for the Max. Support for a standard does not by itself guarantee a particular connection speed; router, network, region and device compatibility also matter.
