Those are also the things Motorola promotes on other Edge 70 models, and that overlap is the point of the question. In its October 5, 2026 review, Notebookcheck asks whether the Plus gives buyers enough to justify picking it over its siblings. Notebookcheck puts the price at roughly US$650. Its answer is a qualified yes for some buyers and no for others.
What Notebookcheck found in the Edge 70 Plus
Notebookcheck’s review, written by Florian Schmitt, presents the Plus as the newest addition to a series with at least five models. The exact count depends on whether you treat battery variants as separate phones. The findings below are the publication’s own assessments. I haven’t independently tested the phone, and the review doesn’t provide a full spec sheet.

Where it does well
- Battery life: Notebookcheck reports very good endurance.
- Display brightness: The screen is described as very bright.
- Storage: It has a microSD card reader, which is uncommon on phones at this level.
- Software support: Motorola promises updates through 2031. Notebookcheck cautions that an end date doesn’t guarantee updates will arrive quickly, so the promise says little about how fast patches ship.
Where it falls short
- Performance: Notebookcheck calls it rather limited for the price.
- Cameras: The rear setup is pared down. It has one high-resolution main camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera, and the macro adds little.
- Build: The reviewers heard creaking when they pressed the phone firmly.
- Water protection: The phone has no real protection against submersion.
How Motorola positions the other Edge 70 models
According to Notebookcheck, Motorola separates the models by emphasis rather than by a simple good, better, best ladder. That is why the Plus can look like a rival to its own siblings.
| Model | Main emphasis (per Notebookcheck) |
|---|---|
| Edge 70 Plus | Large battery, bright display, microSD slot |
| Edge 70 Max | Large battery and processing power |
| Edge 70 Pro | Slim, lightweight body |
| Edge 70 | Slim, lightweight body |
| Edge 70 Fusion | Customization and a lower price. It comes with a 5,200 mAh or a 7,000 mAh battery. |
The Plus shares battery as a headline feature with the Max and the larger-battery Fusion. It shares a rounded display and back with the Edge 70 Pro, while the wider Edge 70 series is described as more angular. The Plus doesn’t clearly lead in any one area. Its case rests on the mix of features, and on the microSD slot, which Notebookcheck highlights as a practical extra.

Which buyer should consider the Plus
The review doesn’t give a complete side-by-side comparison, so the following is my reading of it.
- Choose the Plus if you want expandable storage, a bright screen and long battery life, and you mostly take casual photos.
- Look at the Max if you want a big battery and also need stronger performance. Notebookcheck describes the Plus as limited on that front.
- Look at the Pro or standard Edge 70 if a slim, light phone matters more than battery size.
- Look at the Fusion if price matters most. The 7,000 mAh variant gives you a large battery for less money, though the review doesn’t give a direct endurance comparison.
Check before you buy
- Price in your country: The US$650 figure is Notebookcheck’s approximation. Local prices, configurations and availability may differ.
- Prices for neighboring models: The Plus’s value depends on the gap between it and the Max, Pro and Fusion where you live. The review doesn’t list those prices.
- Software cadence: Support through 2031 is a stated commitment. Look at how quickly Motorola has delivered updates on previous phones.
- Durability needs: If you use your phone near water, note the missing submersion protection.
The Bottom Line
The Edge 70 Plus suits buyers who want a long-lasting battery, a bright screen and a microSD slot, and who can live with modest performance and cameras. Its real competition is Motorola’s own Max, Pro, Edge 70 and Fusion, so compare local prices across the family before you choose.
