For gaming and battery endurance, the OnePlus 15R is the stronger choice on the available comparison tests; for a sharper screen and more flexible charging, the Motorola Edge 70 Max offers better value. Both use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, so the practical differences are supported-game refresh rates, tested battery life, display resolution, configuration price and charging. The prices below are India figures reported by 91mobiles on July 16, 2026, not live quotes.

Performance: same chipset, small benchmark differences
Both phones use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. In 91mobiles’ reported tests, their AnTuTu totals were close: 2,972,932 for the Edge 70 Max and 2,957,229 for the OnePlus 15R. Geekbench single-core results were also close, at 2,823 and 2,851 respectively, while OnePlus led the multi-core result, 9,363 to Motorola’s 8,890. The reviewer describes ordinary day-to-day performance as virtually identical.

Benchmark version, configuration, temperature and firmware can change results. Motorola’s product announcement separately claims up to 36% improved CPU performance, 11% improved GPU performance and 46% improved NPU performance versus the previous generation; those are Motorola’s manufacturer claims, not a head-to-head comparison with OnePlus. Gaming: OnePlus has the clearer high-refresh advantage
A 165Hz display does not mean every game runs at 165 frames per second. In its comparison, 91mobiles reports that the OnePlus reached 165Hz in supported games such as BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile, while its tested Edge 70 Max remained capped at 120Hz in games. That makes OnePlus the better-supported pick for players who use compatible high-refresh titles, but the result should not be treated as a universal game list or a promise about future updates.
OnePlus also describes “always-on 120 FPS” for MLBB on its official 15R product page. The page says the claim is based on OnePlus Test Laboratory data for at least 60 minutes and that performance can vary with environment or use. This is a manufacturer statement, not an independent comparative test. If long sessions and stable frame times matter more than a headline refresh rate, look for comparable same-version stress tests reporting temperatures and frame-time stability; the cited results do not establish universal sustained-performance superiority.

Display: Motorola is sharper; OnePlus can refresh faster
The Edge 70 Max has a 6.82-inch QHD+ panel with 1440 × 3168 resolution and a 144Hz maximum refresh rate. Motorola’s specifications also list 7,000 nits peak brightness, Gorilla Glass 7i, an aircraft-grade aluminium frame, IP68/IP69 protection and MIL-STD 810H. Peak brightness is a specification, not a promise of that brightness across the full screen in ordinary use. See Motorola’s specification page for the published details.
The OnePlus 15R’s 6.83-inch 1.5K panel has a higher stated maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. Motorola’s greater pixel resolution suits buyers who prioritize fine detail; OnePlus’s higher ceiling is most useful in compatible games. 91mobiles reports similar perceived smoothness in ordinary interface use, so the refresh-rate numbers alone do not imply that everyday scrolling will look dramatically different.

Battery and charging: endurance versus flexibility
91mobiles reports a PCMark battery result of 18.2 hours for the OnePlus 15R and 16.6 hours for the Edge 70 Max. The related comparison article describes this test as running from 100% to 20%. These are publisher test results under a specific test method, not expected screen-on time or guaranteed real-world use.
Motorola lists a 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, 90W TurboPower wired charging and 25W magnetic Qi2 wireless charging. OnePlus is listed with a 7,400mAh battery and 80W wired charging, with no wireless charging stated in the comparison. In practical terms, OnePlus pairs the larger listed capacity with the longer reported PCMark result; Motorola gives up some of that endurance evidence in exchange for higher stated wired charging and the convenience of Qi2 wireless charging.

The entry Motorola configuration is ₹5,000 below the two 12GB options in those dated listings, but it has less RAM. If you want a like-for-like 12GB comparison and those prices still hold, both phones sit at the ₹60,000 ceiling. Retail listings, bank offers and exchange discounts may change the amount payable; check the exact seller and configuration before buying. The dated comparison is at 91mobiles.

Software support and ownership horizon
The 91mobiles comparison reports four major Android upgrades and six years of security updates for OnePlus, versus three major Android upgrades and five years of security updates for Motorola. That gives OnePlus the longer stated support window in this comparison. Because the cited figures are not from official policy pages, confirm the current support terms for the phone’s India version before relying on them.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose the OnePlus 15R if
- You play games that support its higher refresh modes and want the advantage reported in 91mobiles’ testing.
- You prioritize the longer PCMark battery result among these two review samples.
- You want 12GB RAM at the reported ₹59,999 configuration and value the longer software-support terms listed by 91mobiles.
Choose the Motorola Edge 70 Max if
- You prefer its higher-resolution QHD+ display.
- You want magnetic Qi2 wireless charging as well as faster stated wired charging.
- You want to spend less and are comfortable with the reported 8GB/256GB version, or can find its 12GB option within budget.
For a performance-first buyer, OnePlus is the stronger default on the reviewed gaming-refresh and battery-test evidence. Motorola is the more compelling value if display sharpness and charging options matter more than those advantages.
