The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is a design-led premium Android phone. Its strongest points are a 144Hz pOLED display, 125W wired charging, and a three-lens rear camera with a 3× optical telephoto. Its weaker points are sustained graphics performance, a 4500mAh battery whose real-world result depends heavily on how it is tested, and a software support promise that reviewers judged shorter than some rivals’. The 2024 launch and review figures below are historical, so whether the phone is good value today depends on the price you can actually get in your market.
Key specifications
Motorola’s India support page lists the following. Motorola states that specifications may vary by market, so confirm the exact configuration on the box or the listing you are buying from.

Camera: three rear lenses and what reviewers found
Motorola’s launch announcement describes a 50MP main camera, a 64MP 3× optical telephoto, a 50MP ultrawide with macro capability, and a 50MP autofocus selfie camera. The telephoto is the lens that gives the phone its focal-length flexibility, and it is the main reason reviewers recommend it to people who shoot at more than one zoom level.

It also reported weaker dynamic range than it expected and colour that was boosted rather than natural. These are one reviewer’s findings, not a universal verdict on the camera.

Digital zoom beyond the optical range
The same review said that 100× digital zoom produced fuzzy results with poor detail and poor colour accuracy. Buyers who plan to rely on extreme zoom should treat the optical telephoto as the useful range and expect the digital end of the zoom scale to be a fallback only.
Battery life: three results that do not compare directly
Two reviews published battery figures for the phone, and they used different methods. The table shows what each result measured. Do not read the numbers as a ranking of one test against the other.
| Source (2024) | Method | Result | What it measures |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tech Advisor | PCMark Work 3.0 battery test | 10 hours 5 minutes | Lab-style run under the conditions stated in that review |
| 91mobiles | PCMark battery test | 13 hours 27 minutes | Its own test setup, not the same protocol as Tech Advisor’s |
| Tech Advisor reviewer | Personal day of moderate use | 40–45% remaining after a 16-hour day | One reviewer’s experience, not a controlled endurance test |
Taken together, the results suggest that the 4500mAh battery is adequate for a full day of moderate use, but not generous compared with some rival phones. The gap between the two PCMark figures is a reminder that test conditions, brightness, and workload can move a result substantially. Your own usage pattern will decide the outcome.

Charging speed and what is in the box
The headline specification is 125W wired charging and up to 50W wireless. In 91mobiles’ test, with the charge-boost setting enabled, the battery went from 20% to 100% in 15 minutes. That is one reviewer’s measured result under those settings, not a guarantee for every charge.
GSMArena’s review package included the 125W adapter and a USB-C cable, and a hard semi-transparent case. Bundles differ by region and retailer, so check the contents of your local listing before assuming a charger is included. If you need a replacement adapter, it should be a 125W unit to get the rated speed.
Performance and graphics
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 handles day-to-day tasks well according to the reviews, and Tech Advisor praised the clean feel of the Android implementation. Motorola’s launch wording describes the chip as “fueling all key features throughout the phone.” That is promotional language from the manufacturer, not an independent assessment.
The weak point is sustained graphics load. Tech Advisor placed the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3’s GPU below the top-tier Snapdragon platforms, and in its comparison it ranked the chip behind the earlier Edge 40 Pro. Those are graphics-focused results. They do not mean ordinary apps or everyday browsing are slow, and buyers who play demanding games for long sessions should weigh this point most heavily.
Rank #2
- Unlocked for All GSM Carriers Only (Excluding Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular), No CDMA. Dual SIM (1x Nano-SIM slot, eSIM), Networks: 2G GSM, 3G, 4G LTE, 5G

- Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform
- Android 14
Software and update commitment
The phone launched with Android 14. At review time, Tech Advisor and 91mobiles reported a promise of three major Android OS upgrades and four years of security updates. The reviews also noted preinstalled third-party apps and no always-on display option in the software they tested. Both observations may depend on software version and market.
These figures are the reviews’ reading of Motorola’s promise as of 2024. They have not been verified for current delivery, for your region, or for how much support remains. Check Motorola’s support information for your model and region before relying on the support period, and compare it directly with the policy of any rival you are considering.
Pros and cons
Strengths
- A 6.7-inch 1.5K 144Hz pOLED display, which Tech Advisor and 91mobiles both singled out for praise.
- A design that reviewers from both outlets highlighted.
- Flexible camera coverage with a 3× optical telephoto and a sharp ultrawide.
- 125W wired charging, which produced very quick results in the 91mobiles test.
- No need to rely on a memory card, since 512GB of storage is built in.
Trade-offs
- Graphics performance under sustained load trails the top-tier Snapdragon platforms, according to Tech Advisor.
- Camera colour is boosted and dynamic range is weaker than some buyers may expect; 100× digital zoom is not usable for detail.
- The 4500mAh battery is smaller than some rivals’ cells, and test results vary widely.
- The software support window is shorter than some competitors offered as of 2024. See the section on software and updates for the exact figures.
- Preinstalled apps and the absence of an always-on display option were noted in the software tested.
Prices: what the historical numbers mean
Pricing for this phone has changed since launch, and the figures from 2024 are not a current quote. The table shows what each source reported and the context attached to it.
| Price point | Market | Source and date | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| €999 starting price | Selected markets | Motorola launch announcement, 2024 | Announced launch price, not a current universal price |
| £849.99 direct; £829 on Amazon | United Kingdom | Tech Advisor, 2024 review period | Historical review-period prices only |
| ₹60,000 budget framing; ₹54,999 early bank offer | India | 91mobiles, 2024 | Review framing and an early offer, not a current price |
To judge value today, look up the current price in your own market, check whether a bank offer or retailer promotion applies, and compare it with rivals at the same price. The 2024 reviews named the OnePlus 12, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Samsung Galaxy S24, Xiaomi 14, and iQOO 12 as alternatives, but the prices and availability of those phones have also moved since then.

Who should buy it
The Edge 50 Ultra fits buyers who want the following, roughly in this order of priority:
- A premium display and a design they like to hold and look at every day.
- Camera flexibility across the main, ultrawide, and 3× telephoto focal lengths, with natural colour not being the top requirement.
- Very fast wired charging, and they are comfortable with a smaller battery capacity.
- A competitive price in their own market, confirmed on the day they buy.
Look at other phones first if sustained high-end gaming is central to your use, if you want natural, accurate colour straight out of the camera, or if you need the longest possible software support. In those cases the trade-offs above are likely to matter more than the strengths.
