The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion and Moto G96 5G share a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor and a 6.67-inch, 144 Hz pOLED display, but differ in charging speed, battery capacity, NFC, launch software and listed price. For an India-focused buyer, choose by those practical differences and check the live price and exact regional model before buying.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion vs Moto G96 5G: key specifications

Motorola’s India specification pages list the same chipset and headline display figures for both phones. That does not establish identical real-world performance: no controlled performance test is available here. The listed IP68 ratings are the same, but do not imply identical warranty coverage or tolerance for damage or misuse. Motorola Edge 50 Fusion specifications and Motorola Moto G96 5G specifications are the relevant India references.

What differs in everyday use?

Battery capacity versus charging speed

The G96 has 500 mAh more stated capacity: 5,500 mAh against the Edge 50 Fusion’s 5,000 mAh. The Edge has the higher stated wired charging rate, 68 W versus 33 W. Those figures identify the trade-off, but do not establish which phone lasts longer in use or how long either takes to charge; those outcomes depend on testing and conditions.

NFC and ultrawide camera

The Edge 50 Fusion’s India specifications list NFC, while Motorola lists no NFC for the India G96. If you rely on NFC-dependent features such as contactless payments, confirm the precise regional SKU and your intended service before choosing.

Motorola’s India Edge listing specifies a 13 MP ultrawide camera. The G96 camera information is less straightforward across regions: Motorola’s US support page describes a 50 MP Sony Lytia 700C main camera with OIS and an 8 MP autofocus ultrawide, while 91mobiles lists an 8 MP ultrawide for the India comparison. Do not treat the US support page as confirmation of every India G96 configuration. Megapixel counts alone cannot determine which phone takes better photos; consult tests of the exact regional models if camera quality is decisive. Motorola’s US Moto G96 5G specifications

Android version and documented updates

The manufacturer listings show the Edge 50 Fusion with Android 14 and the G96 with Android 15. Motorola’s India security page says the G96 launched in June 2025 on Android 15, lists Android 16 as its next OS, and schedules security updates to stop in June 2028. Motorola says updates are at least bimonthly and cautions that plans are informational, may change, and can vary by region and channel. The listing does not establish a firm Android 16 release date.

The sources here do not establish the Edge 50 Fusion’s current update end date. The G96’s documented schedule therefore is not enough to conclude that it has longer overall support than the Edge; check matching, current schedules for both exact models. Motorola India security updates

Which phone should you choose?

  • Choose the Edge 50 Fusion if NFC, faster stated wired charging, or the 13 MP ultrawide listed on Motorola’s India page matters more to you—and its current price is competitive.
  • Choose the Moto G96 5G if the larger stated battery or Android 15 starting point matters more, provided the exact model is in stock at a price you consider worthwhile.
  • Compare exact regional variants if your decision depends on camera quality, battery runtime, or a feature that may vary by market. Specifications and capacity figures alone do not prove better photos or longer battery life.
