A deliberately compact retro racer
Nintendo describes Moto X as a game developed in 1994. Its Nintendo Switch listing is dated October 16, 2026, so the Switch edition brings a historically styled racer to current hardware while retaining a concise structure rather than trying to compete with modern open-ended racing games.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The appeal is immediate: select a motorcycle class, choose a skill level and race through the available tracks. The listing names 250cc, 550cc and 750cc motorcycles, giving you three engine classes to try. It also lists three skill levels, five tracks at each level and a bonus level. That is a finite set of courses you can learn rather than a continually expanding catalog.
Power-ups change the race
Moto X includes power-ups, an important distinction from a pure time-trial game. A race is not only about taking the cleanest line; an item can alter the immediate contest and give the arcade format a more playful, less technical rhythm. If you enjoy games where a short event can turn on a pickup or a well-timed move, this is the defining reason to choose Moto X.
Designed around local split screen
The Nintendo listing supports two-player local split-screen competition. That makes Moto X especially suitable for a Switch shared in the same room: two people can start a race without relying on a large online community, matchmaking or asynchronous rankings. The trade-off is scope. The documented multiplayer feature is local two-player play, not the broader online and community ecosystem found in Trials Rising.

Physics first, racing second
Nintendo describes Trials Rising as over-the-top action and physics-bending motorcycle racing. Its central challenge is not simply reaching the finish line before another rider. You must manage momentum, balance the bike over jumps, clear obstacles and land accurately enough to continue without losing time or control.
Ubisoft’s feature description emphasizes carefully balanced courses, jumps, obstacles and checkpoints. Those elements create a precision loop: attempt a section, identify where the bike became unstable, adjust your approach and try again. The game is described as easy to pick up but challenging to master, which explains why it can serve both as a quick first play and as a demanding long-term hobby.

A much larger course library
Nintendo advertises more than 125 new tracks. That number is already substantially larger than the bounded track structure listed for Moto X, and it is supplemented by worldwide settings and community-created material. Ubisoft names locations including Yellowstone National Park, the Eiffel Tower, Pripyat, Egypt’s Valley of the Kings and Mount Everest.
The variety matters because each location can change the visual context while the underlying physics remain the constant skill test. You are not merely repeating one stadium with cosmetic changes; the game uses recognizable places as a framework for different jumps, hazards and checkpoint sequences.
Progression through repetition and mastery
Trials Rising rewards players who enjoy incremental improvement. A failed landing is useful information, and a completed run can still invite another attempt to reduce mistakes. Ghost competition lets you race against recorded performances rather than waiting for another person to be online, so the single-player experience retains a competitive dimension.
That structure favors patience. If you want every race to be instantly comfortable, the physics can feel demanding. If you like seeing a difficult section become consistent after repeated attempts, the same design provides the game’s strongest source of satisfaction.
How the two games differ in moment-to-moment play
Arcade choices versus technical control
Moto X is built around conventional racing decisions and power-up disruption. Its three motorcycle classes and skill levels give you a simple way to vary the experience, while the limited course set makes it easy to understand what remains to master.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

Trials Rising asks for more continuous control. The bike’s attitude in the air, the timing of a jump and the way you approach an obstacle all affect the next few seconds. A rider who enjoys tuning technique will find more to analyze; a rider who wants a relaxed race may prefer the cleaner arcade presentation of Moto X.
Finite package versus extensive replay space
The two games make different promises about time. Moto X offers a compact set of races that can fit naturally into short sessions. Its appeal comes from revisiting a small selection of tracks, trying different motorcycle classes and competing with someone beside you.
Trials Rising is structured for a longer relationship. More than 125 tracks, ghost runs, online events, tandem riding and community sharing give you several reasons to return after completing an initial course. The larger library does not guarantee that every player will enjoy it, but it does provide considerably more room for practice and discovery.
Multiplayer and social features
Moto X: straightforward local competition
For Moto X, the documented multiplayer feature is local split screen for up to two players. This is the simplest possible setup: hand a controller to a friend, select a race and compete on the same display. It is a strong fit for family play, a short party session or a portable Switch used by two people nearby.
Trials Rising: local, online and asynchronous options
The Xbox product listing specifies local multiplayer for two to four players and online multiplayer for two to eight players. Ubisoft also describes local tandem-bike co-op, in which players share one motorcycle, and asynchronous ghost competition that lets you challenge recorded rides. Availability and the exact player arrangement can depend on platform and mode, so check the mode details on the edition you intend to use.

This adds a social layer beyond head-to-head races: customization can circulate through the player community, and your activity can continue to matter even when friends are not playing at the same time.
Which game is better on Nintendo Switch?
Both games have Nintendo Switch editions, so hardware access does not settle the decision. The relevant question is whether you want the Switch to deliver a small retro arcade experience or a physics-focused game with a much larger amount of content.
Choose Moto X on Switch when
- You want races that are easy to explain to a second player.
- You prefer local split-screen play and do not need online competition.
- Power-ups and arcade unpredictability sound more appealing than precision time trials.
- You value a compact game that can be played in short bursts.
- The visual and design character of a game developed in 1994 is part of the attraction.
Choose Trials Rising on Switch when
- You want a large track library rather than a small, fixed selection.
- You enjoy learning difficult jumps and obstacles through repeated attempts.
- You want online multiplayer, ghost competition or tandem-bike co-op.
- Worldwide locations and community-created gear or skins add value for you.
- You expect one game to support months of practice rather than a few familiar local races.
Which game offers more replayability?
On the documented features, Trials Rising has the clear advantage in breadth. More than 125 tracks provide a larger base of official challenges, and the game adds ghost runs, online modes, tandem riding and community creations. Those systems give you different goals even after you have seen many of the courses.
Moto X can still be replayable, but its replay loop is narrower: improve your performance across the listed tracks, experiment with the three motorcycle classes and race another person locally. That is enough for players who prefer a focused arcade title, but it is not the same scale of content as Trials Rising.
Which game is easier to start?
Moto X should be easier to introduce in a casual setting because its documented structure is simple: choose a class, select a skill level and race. Power-ups can also make a close event entertaining before either player has learned every track.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Trials Rising is also presented as easy to pick up, but its mastery curve is more demanding. Understanding the basic objective is quick; consistently balancing the motorcycle through jumps and obstacles takes practice. A new player may finish a course quickly yet still have substantial room to improve the run.
A practical decision guide
- Decide how you will play. If the main scenario is two people sharing a Switch in the same room, start with Moto X. If you expect to play alone, online or asynchronously, Trials Rising offers more documented modes.
- Choose your preferred kind of challenge. Pick Moto X for arcade racing and power-ups. Pick Trials Rising for balance, momentum, obstacles and precision.
- Estimate how much content you need. A finite set of tracks can be a benefit when you want a focused game. More than 125 tracks and community features are better suited to long-term play.
- Consider your tolerance for repetition. If repeating a section to improve a landing sounds rewarding, Trials Rising is the natural fit. If you would rather restart a short race and immediately contest the next round, Moto X is likely to feel better.
- Match the purchase to your platform. Confirm the edition and multiplayer options for your system. Moto X is verified here for Nintendo Switch; Trials Rising is documented on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, cloud play, PlayStation 4 and PC.
What the available information does not establish
There is no authoritative sales statistic, review aggregate or named-person review quotation establishing that one game is universally better. The recommendation is based on documented design differences: Moto X emphasizes compact retro racing, power-ups and local split screen, while Trials Rising emphasizes physics, a larger course library and broader multiplayer and community systems.
Regional storefront details can differ, especially for release dates, online-service requirements and the modes offered on a particular platform. Before buying, check the product page for your region and the exact system you plan to use.
Verdict
Trials Rising is the better overall choice for most players. Its physics-based courses, more than 125 tracks, worldwide settings, ghost competition, online multiplayer, tandem riding and community features give it substantially more depth and replay value. It is the game to choose when you want a motocross title that can keep challenging you after the first weekend.
Moto X is the better specialist choice. Its 1994-rooted arcade design, power-ups, defined track structure and two-player split screen make it a good companion for quick sessions and direct couch competition. Choose it when simplicity and retro character matter more than a large content ecosystem.
