“Waterproof” is too strong a promise for Moto phones: Motorola India says its devices are “Not waterproof or dust proof.” The official India specifications captured for the moto g96 5G list IP68, but that model-specific rating does not make it suitable for intentional submersion. Treat “waterproof” listings as a way to find candidates, then confirm the exact India model’s official rating and care instructions before buying.
What Motorola’s water-resistance guidance means
Motorola India says water and dust resistance are tested under controlled laboratory conditions. Its general support guidance describes immersion up to 1.5 metres in fresh water for up to 30 minutes, plus protection against powerful water jets—including high-pressure, high-temperature jets—for up to 30 seconds. These are general manufacturer test conditions, not ratings that can be assigned to every Moto phone. Check the official specification for the exact model and India variant.

Motorola also warns that exposure beyond a device’s rating is not covered by warranty and that resistance can decrease through normal wear. The phone is not designed to work while submerged, and the guidance advises against intentional submersion, salt water, other liquids, and beach or pool use. Which Moto phones have an official India rating in the available specifications?
moto g96 5G
Motorola India’s specifications page lists IP68 for the moto g96 5G. The same page lists a 5500 mAh battery, a 6.67-inch pOLED display, and Water Touch. These are published specifications, not independent water tests or permission to use the phone underwater. Check the moto g96 5G specifications on Motorola India.

The available official model evidence does not establish a complete IP-rating chart for other Moto phones in India. Do not infer a rating from a similar model name, a third-party category label, or specifications for another regional variant.
India listings can help build a shortlist, not verify protection
India phone directories surfaced the Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 60 Pro, Moto G86 Power, and Edge 70 Pro 5G as candidate models in “waterproof” listings. Those listings are useful for discovering phones to investigate; they do not prove each model’s official IP rating. The directories also had conflicting freshness markers when accessed on October 7, 2026, so their prices and availability should not be treated as live offers. - Match the exact variant. Confirm the full model name and that the specifications apply to the India variant you intend to buy.
- Find the official rating. Look up that model on Motorola India’s specification or support pages. A directory’s “waterproof” category is not a substitute.
- Read the care warnings. Check what the manufacturer says about immersion, fresh versus salt water, jets, wet charging, and wear. A rating describes test conditions, not a guarantee against every spill or accident.
- Check the purchase details. Verify the current price, stock, configuration, seller, and warranty with the retailer or Motorola storefront before ordering.
- Compare the rating alongside the rest of the phone. Consider the specifications and budget you need, rather than ranking phones by the word “waterproof.”
What an IP rating does—and does not—tell you
An IP rating is specific to a model and reflects defined protection tests; it should not be generalized across a product family. Motorola’s general guidance provides test examples, but only a handset’s own official specification confirms which rating applies to it. Even a published rating does not override the manufacturer’s cautions: Motorola says not to intentionally submerge the phone and warns against beach and pool use. For the moto g96 5G, IP68 is the official India specification captured here; it is not a promise that the phone is waterproof in everyday use.
