The Moto G96 5G is the stronger on-paper pick for a smoother display, more versatile rear cameras and a higher listed ingress-protection rating. The Lava Virat Curve 5G counters with a larger stated battery, faster charging support and a newer Android version at launch. Price is less straightforward: the available figures use different variant and offer conditions, so they do not establish a like-for-like current price difference.

Which display is better for everyday use?
Both phones have curved 6.67-inch displays, so the main listed difference is refresh rate: the Moto reaches up to 144Hz, while the Lava is listed at 120Hz. A higher refresh rate can make supported scrolling and animations look smoother, but it does not by itself establish overall display quality or performance in every app.

Camera hardware: Moto adds an ultrawide
The Moto has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), plus an 8MP ultrawide camera. The Lava launch report lists a 50MP rear camera. The additional ultrawide gives the Moto more listed framing options for landscapes or group photos; megapixel counts alone do not prove which phone takes better photos.
For selfies, Motorola lists a 32MP front camera and Lava’s launch report lists a 13MP front camera. These specifications describe resolution, not real-world image quality.

Battery capacity and charging are not the same as endurance
Lava’s reported 6,000mAh battery is larger on paper than the Moto’s 5,500mAh unit. Lava also supports charging at up to 45W, compared with the Moto’s listed 33W. These ratings do not establish actual battery life or how long either phone takes to charge; usage, software and charging conditions matter.

Software support and durability
Updates
The Moto is listed with Android 15, one OS upgrade and three years of security updates on Motorola’s support page. The Lava launched with Android 16, and its launch report promises two OS upgrades and three years of security updates. Those are stated support commitments, not independently verified update-delivery histories.
Ingress protection
Motorola lists IP68 for the Moto G96 5G, while the Lava launch report gives the Virat Curve an IP64 rating. In general, the first digit concerns dust protection and the second concerns water protection; IP68 indicates a higher water-protection classification than IP64. Ratings are not a guarantee against every exposure, damage is not automatically covered by warranty, and neither phone should be treated as indestructible.

Price difference in India: compare exact variants and offers
Motorola’s India catalogue snapshot returned a price of ₹20,999 for the Moto G96 5G, while listing both 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB versions without tying that figure to a specific storage variant. Gadgets 360 reported Lava launch pricing of ₹23,999 for the 6GB/128GB model and a conditional bank-offer price of ₹19,999. The report said sales were due to start on September 28, 2026.

These are not a verified current, like-for-like checkout comparison: one Moto price is not variant-specific, and Lava’s lower figure depends on a bank offer. Before deciding, check the live listing for the exact storage configuration, seller, stock and offer eligibility. Treat the cited figures as catalogue and launch-price references, not guaranteed current street prices. Motorola’s catalogue source is its India Moto G phone catalogue.

- Choose the Moto G96 5G on paper if you value a refresh rate up to 144Hz, 8GB RAM, a 256GB storage option, an ultrawide rear camera, a higher-resolution selfie camera or Motorola’s listed IP68 rating.
- Choose the Lava Virat Curve 5G on paper if its stated 6,000mAh battery, 45W charging support, Android 16 at launch or the conditional launch offer matters more. Remember that its reported in-box charger is rated at 33W.
- Make price the deciding factor only after checking checkout totals for matching storage needs and any offer conditions. The available figures do not establish a dependable current price gap.
Neither spec sheet settles real-world battery endurance, camera results or display quality. The best fit depends on which listed differences matter most to you, and on the exact live prices available for the configuration you intend to buy.
